The ARA is proud to host AusRAIL 2018 in Australia’s capital, Canberra – where the rail industry meets parliament.
Across the region, significant investments are being made in rail. As the industry flourishes, it is important to continue to
build long-term momentum. With the theme, ‘Rail – For a Better Future’, AusRAIL 2018 showcases the industry’s capabilities and provides insight to rail’s future in developing a better integrated, liveable and prosperous society.
Over the two days, you will see, hear, meet and connect with key industry and government stakeholders, customers, researchers and suppliers.
The first day of the conference starts with a keynote on futureproofing the industry and includes a focus on customers and our future leaders. Day Two explores the future priorities of government, the next generation, technology and the supply chain and includes the Great Rail Debate.
The technical streams arranged by the Railway Technical Society of Australasia (RTSA), the Rail Track Association Australia (RTAA), Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE), the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR) and the rail suppliers reflect the latest innovation and collaboration.
These sessions are complemented by an impressive trade show, the largest rail exhibition in the Southern Hemisphere. It will also feature the Innovation Hub - a resource centre of new ideas.
The social functions will again be a highlight and include a new networking breakfast session for sponsors and exhibitors.
It’s only fitting that we will gather at Parliament House for the Gala Dinner to reflect on rail’s future and celebrate the announcement of the winner of Young Pitching Competition. I congratulate this year’s finalists:
– Tyler Plowright, Pacific National | Regional freight deliveries
– Pranoy Banerjee, CWG Project Services | Gamification of rail safety
– Jessica Ghaleb, Jacobs | Hands-free ticketing
– Owen Plagens, Downer | Intelligent Seating Recommendation System (iSRS)
– Henry Swisher, Jacobs | Producing hydrogen for Australia’s long distance freight network
We continually strive to improve AusRAIL and this year, to encourage the transfer of industry knowledge, we have introduced the Mentor Rate - a 50% discount to all young rail professionals, 30 years and under, who attend AusRAIL 2018 with a full-priced colleague.
I encourage you and your teams to join us in creating a better rail future.
Yours sincerely,
Danny BroadChief Executive OfficerAustralasian Railway Association
