InkeepingwithNewmanInternationalAcademy’smissiontoeducatestudentstogrowinwisdom,stature,theWorkforceinTrainingatNewman(WIN)programprovidesstudentswithreal-worldwork,
volunteer,internship,andtravelexperiencesthatwillpreparethemforcollege,career,citizenship,anddevelopglobalawarenessandculturalunderstandings.TheseexperiencesareprovidedthroughprovisionscreatedbyTexasHouseBill5andthroughstrategicpartnershipswithindividuals,businesses,
nonprofitorganizations,foundations,andotherentities.Inaddition,WINprovidesopportunitiesforstudentstoengagewithfacultymembersandadministratorsinlearningexperiencesthatextendbeyondtheclassroomwalls.

StudentparticipationintheWINprogramwillbeginwithaprogramorientation/meetingthatmustbe
attendedbythestudent,hisorherparentorguardian,andtheschoolcounselor.Followingattendanceatanorientation/meeting,theplacementprocessfortheunpaidinternshipwillincludeanapplicationfilledoutbythestudenttolearnareasofinterestsandreferencechecks.Thestudentwillbeprovideda
listofapprovedpartneringorganizationstofulfilltheirinternshiphours,andmayhaveanadditionalinterviewprocesswithpartnerpersonnel.AllpartnerpersonnelwhoworkdirectlywithNewmanAcademystudentswillagreetosignacontractwithNewman.Allparticipatingpartieswillagreeto

CentraltothesuccessofWINisthesystemofstudentsupervisionandprogrammonitoringinplaceat
allparticipatingNewmanAcademycampuses.Faculty,staffandadministratorswillserveascampuscoordinators,fieldliaisonstopartnerorganizations,andasmentorstostudentsenrolledintheprogram.Allparticipatingstaffwillreceiveinitialandongoingtrainingandwillbeinvolvedinongoingprogram
assessment.
Liaisonswillserveasfieldrepresentativesandwillmeetwithpartnerpersonnelwhosupervisestudents,willobservestudents,willdevelopandassesscurriculumobjectivesandassignmentsforstudents,andwillhelpstudentsdesignandproduceportfolios.Astipendwillbeprovidedtopersonnelfortheextra
dutiestheyincurwiththeWINprogram,ifWINisnotalreadyapartoftheirjobportfolio.

GoldLevelStudentsearngoldlevelrecognitionforvolunteering35ormoreservicehoursperyear.Studentsearngoldlevelrecognitionforinternshiphoursof40ormoreperyear.Orstudentsearngoldlevelrecognitionfor200hoursormoreofcombinedinternshipandvolunteeringservicehoursbythetimeheorshegraduates.BlueLevelStudentsearnbluelevelrecognitionforvolunteering20hoursormoreservicehoursperyear.Studentsearnbluelevelrecognitionforinternshiphoursof30ormoreperyear.Orstudentsearnbluelevelrecognitionfor150hoursormoreofcombinedinternshipandvolunteeringservicehoursbythetimeheorshegraduates.RedLevelStudentsearnredlevelrecognitionforserving10ormoreservicehoursperyear.Studentsearnredlevelrecognitionforinternshiphoursof20ormoreperyear.Orstudentsearnredlevelrecognitionfor120hoursormoreofcombinedinternshipandvolunteeringservicehoursbythetimeheorshegraduates.StudentConsequencesforFailuretoMeetWINRequirements
