Kimmel Center Cultural Campus

Dear friends,

Welcome to the Academy of Music, host of the critically-acclaimed, 9-time Tony-winning, powerhouse musical, The Book of Mormon. We are thrilled to present this blockbuster for the third time to Philadelphia audiences — it’s packed with Grammy-winning music, irreverent humor, and a loveable cast of characters.

Our Kimmel Center Cultural Campus is home to an array of comedy legends and up-and-comers all season long, as part of the diverse and varied programming presented across our nine performance spaces. To close out the 2018-19 season, The Improvised Shakespeare Company will dive into worlds of spontaneous comedy on June 7 & 8, developing brand-new shows worthy of the Bard with each performance. Chicago’s revered troupe The Second City returns with an entirely female ensemble and a new show, She the People — running in the Kimmel Center’s Perelman Theater June 13 through June 22. Finally, as part of her inaugural American tour, Hannah Gadsby arrives with Douglas, making her debut in the Kimmel Center’s Merriam Theater on June 23.

Living out our vision to transform lives daily through the arts extends beyond presenting experiences and educational opportunities to a range of ages and arts consumers in our Philadelphia community; did you know that we also serve as an incubator for the creation and production of new works through our yearly Jazz and Theater Residencies? This June marks the sixth season of our Theater Residency, a 2-week intensive in partnership with Joe’s Pub (New York) that concludes with FREE & open to the public readings on June 28 & 29 in our intimate SEI Innovation Studio.

Stay up-to-date on all Campus happenings by following us on social media and signing up for our weekly e-newsletter, Ovation.

Enjoy today’s performance!

Warmly,
