2017 Texico Camp Meeting and Youth Festival
“Following God’s Call: Making Disciples”
June 29 - July 2Thursday Night - Sunday Noon
Dear Fellow Texico Conference Members,
Welcome to the 2017 Texico Conference Camp Meeting! We have been looking forward to this special weekend and have been praying that our time together will be rich with God’s great blessings to each one present. Many have suggested that we have a more rustic, outdoors-type camp meeting in contrast to our recent weekends in the city, and so, here we are in the mountains of Southern New Mexico in just such a setting.
Ever since that day in Peter’s fishing boat, Jesus’ call to discipleship has echoed down through the centuries to men and women. He says “Follow me” and then He promises to give our lives new purpose and meaning as we serve others in His name. This call is really an invitation for each of us to enter into a personal relationship with Jesus as we join Him in His mission.
The first disciples to follow Jesus enjoyed the blessings of this relationship as they were daily eyewitnesses to the impact of His earthly mission. His teaching...His healing...His tender concern for every human heart, brought hope and wholeness to our broken world. For three years they saw it all and “by beholding Him, they were changed”. That is what happens when anyone chooses to follow Jesus into discipleship and then allows His compassion, forgiveness and grace to transform them into His likeness.
Jesus’ call to discipleship is just as relevant today as it was 2000 years ago, and the hope that springs from Him has never been more desperately needed than it is today. Our prayer for each of us during this special weekend is that we will hear, as never before, the invitation of Jesus to become His disciples, and that we will commit to extending His call to many others to become disciples too.
May God richly bless each of us as we worship Him together.

He has authored several books, including Seeing Jesus in the Book of Revelation; Journal of a Lonely God; Jesus, He’s All You’ll Ever Need; Heart Food; Jesus, Your Heart’s Desire; Every Good Thing; Ten Keys to a Happy Marriage, and more. Since 2004, Mike has been serving as host of the award-winning television show: Lifestyle Magazine.
Bill Kasper is currently the pastor of the Albuquerque Central Seventh-day Adventist Church as well as the Ministerial Director for the Texico Conference. He’s a graduate of Southwestern Adventist University and Andrews University. He is also author of two books, Be a Better Pharisee, or Quit Trying, and Overcoming Laodicea. He is married to Vania and they have an 11 year-old son, Jonathan.
David Merling was a professor of Archaeology and History of Antiquity at Andrews University. He later worked as the senior pastor of the Ft. Worth First Seventh-day Adventist Church, Corrales SDA Church and now currently pastors the Albuquerque Heights SDA Church and the Los Ranchos Company. He loves to share Christ within the community through a variety of outreach programs. He’s married to Stephanie, and they are caring for their grandson, Kohl.
Eric Redic has been fascinated with God from early childhood. This fascination followed him all through his life as he searched for truth. His search led him to the Holy Scriptures and to the Seventh-day Adventist Church. In 1992, he and his wife, Wendy, founded the To Know Jesus TV ministry, which aired for seven years. It was during this time that he was urged to go back to school to become a pastor. During his studies at Southwestern Adventist University, he first began to find great interest in the Biblical covenant. After thirty years of study and thirteen years since he began writing his book, IT IS ALL ABOUT LOVE: Understanding God’s Covenant as a Testimony of Jesus, it was finally published in July of 2016. This is an in-depth study of the covenant beginning in the Garden of Eden and proclaimed by every prophet of God, seen through types in Hebrew feasts, the Tabernacle, and to the ultimate anti-type in Jesus Christ. It really is all about Jesus.
