Preparing for the future in a Catholic environment Hei whakatakatū mo te wā ka heke mai nei I roto I tea o Katorika
November 29th, 2016 Term 4, Week 8
Kia ora Whanau ma,
We are now in the season of Advent, a time of waiting and preparing for the coming of Jesus. This is a special time of year for our Catholic Community as we try to give the gift of light (Jesus) to others who are hurting, alone or in need of care. As part of our preparation, you can do your part by donating non-perishable food items to the school office which will be used for local Christmas care boxes for our community. If you child also wishes to be part of the Christmas Eve nativity at St. Patrick’s Church (5pm) please give your child’s name to the school office.
A huge thank you to everyone for your support of our ‘Red & Black’ mufti day in support of the many communities in the North Canterbury Region affected by the earthquakes. As a school we raised just under $350 which I am sure will be gladly accepted by those affected.
2017 St Patrick’s School Enrolments As we move towards the end of the school year we would like to encourage any parents who are planning to
enrol their child at St. Patrick’s to do so now. This is especially important for children who are turning five next year as we are currently organising classes and syndicates for next year and unexpected enrolments
mean that we may have to change our organisation either now or at the start of the year. This can mean the class/ syndicate we indicate your child may be in, may change at the start of next year. Please help us to
help you!
… continued
… continued End of year reports are now being written by the teaching staff and will be shared with you over the next two weeks. For those children who have interviews this week, you will receive the reports at these with all other children receiving their reports in the last week of term.
At the weekend we held interviews for a teaching position starting at the beginning of 2017. I am pleased to announce that Terri-Ann Coltham has been appointed to this position. We look forward to her joining our team and bringing with her a number of strengths and skills. We are in the process of finalising details for 2017 and soon we will be in a position to share syndicate and class organisation with you.
This week school accounts for each child are being sent home. As we move into the final few weeks of the year we ask that you please ensure that your account is paid up in full by the end of the school year. This is especially important for children who are leaving but also for other families, so that you do not start next year owing money. If you do have any questions please either speak with Kim in the office or myself.
This week stationery pack order forms will be sent home with your child. These give you the opportunity to order a school stationery pack through the school or purchase items on the list yourself. These can be paid for now, by Automatic Payment (AP) or by choosing to pay on the first day of the 2017 school year. Packs will only be given out once payment is received.
Ngā mihi o Te Atua Steve Wheeler Principal
2017 Schooling Costs As we begin to start thinking about the 2017 school year we thought it timely to share with you again information about
costs. In 2017 costs you will incur include:
Stationery packs – information about these will be sent home soon. The approximate cost of these is $30
School donations - like all schools, we request a donation each year from families to cover additional resources
and teaching support to enhance the learning opportunities at school. Currently this is $80 for one child, $140 for
two children and $180 for three or more children.
Sports fees – these are different for all sports but range between $10 and $45
Swimming lessons – these are approximately $40 for the Brigidine and McKenna Syndicates and $10 for Kildare
Syndicate water safety lessons
School events – when we arrange trips or visiting shows these can have a cost that ranges from a gold coin
donation normally up to $10
Setting up an AP through the school office is an easy and efficient method of payment to cover the cost of school costs,
which many of our families already use. This method also takes away the worry of regularly sending money to school as well as spreading costs out into small amounts across the whole year. An AP of $5 a week for one student, $9.00
for two students or $12 for 3 students over 40 school weeks should cover most if not all of the costs of stationery
packs, school donations, sports team fees, school trips, shows and swimming lessons.
