“1996 Western National Tour”
President’s Corner
Wow, for those of you who attended the Pot Luck last
month, wasn’t the food great? Thanks to all who attended
and made it a success with all that delicious food. I hope
everyone enjoyed it. I sure did. I presented 2016 VMCCA
National Award for the MODEL T FORD AWARD cate-
gory to Ken Baird. This award is for a Model T owner
who best represents enthusiasm and helpfulness and has
restored a Model T to a high degree of excellence and au-
thenticity. Ken certainly fills that bill! If you get a chance
at a future membership meeting, please congratulate him.
There are 27 annual VMCCA national award categories.
Go look at your past Bulb Horns for more information and
consider entering one of these for the year 2017. Usually
nomination packages are due in early December.
It was unfortunate that we were not participating in the St.
Patrick’s Day parade but there was a tour of the Auto Gal-
lery on S. Wahsatch followed by a wonderful lunch at
Maggie Mae’s. There are some beautifully restored cars
there.
I repeat again, Carol Strom is working hard at developing
monthly tours for the year but he needs some help. Please
give her a call if you want to help. She would really appre-
ciate any and all help. It’s always a lot of fun.
Reminder, the Dust Off tour on April 22nd is fast approach-
ing. For those of you that want to go and haven’t signed
up please give Carol a call. She needs your RSVP and
check by April 12th. See your March GAS LINE for more
details and sign up sheet.
Let’s get out and tour!!

ANNUAL POTLUCK
ENJOYED BY ALL!
Another great Potluck dinner was hosted at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in March and
once again the food was terrific. This is always a well attended event and this year was no
exception.
We were entertained by one of our very own members Joe Chiacchieri who played several
songs on his accordion. Joe has been playing for years and shared some history of the ac-
cordion and how it works. It
was very entertaining and hav-
ing never seen an accordion up
close it was enjoyable to watch.
As always a big thank you goes
out to Erv Fahrenkrug for ar-
ranging the church for our event
and getting everything set up.
Unfortunately we had some
vandalism during the meeting
and if your car was damaged
there is a police report on file
that you can add your damage to. The police have caught the kids who did the vandalism
and by adding your damage to the claim they will be charged with a more serious crime.
If you will call the CSPD at 444-7000 and reference case number 17-09651 that will get all
of the damage added together. If you have filed an individual report you should call and
get it added to this case number.
Even with the issues we had in the parking lot it was a great evening and we thank Joe for
sharing his talents with our club.
Please Note: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR PIKES PEAK CHAPTER OF VMCCA! Our
birthday was in 1960 so please wear any of your shirts or hats from previous tours
to our Membership Meeting on April 14th.

As many of you know Grier Manning
passed away recently and the family
has been working on a date to honor
him and his contributions to our hob-
by and the community. They are
planning to have a memorial and in-
duction ceremony on July 8th. Below
is a flyer with the information on the
event for those of you who want to
attend the event. As more details are
available I will have them in future
issues of the Gas Line.
This location is the race track just
north of Pueblo where Grier compet-
ed. He had a long history as a driver,
mechanic and competitor in the Pikes
Peak Region so it is fitting he will be
honored at one of the many tracks he
was successful at.

Do you have an interesting tour, parade or car story? Perhaps you would share why you love old cars
and how you came to be the owner of your favorite one. What great memories do you have about a
special car you remember as a kid growing up? Everyone loves to read these stories and I would love
to include them in the Gas Line. Send your ideas and stories to [email protected].
