AMC is continually improving and updating the course and individual units as the need arises
within the guidelines of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) and the International
Maritime Organisation (IMO). Therefore the content of this information booklet is subject to
change without notice. Unit lecturers are however required to advise students of any changes
to the curriculum prior to assessment.

Course Guidelines
The course you are enrolled in is approved and accredited by the Australian Maritime Safety
Authority (AMSA). The course incorporates the requirements necessary to obtain a certificate
of competency as Deck Watckkeeper, Mate/Master < 500 GT or Chief Mate/Master. Seatime is
required as per Australian Maritime Safety Authority Marine Order 70.

11 short courses of varying lengths delivered before and after Pre Sea Deck semester.
