Team Notes- Liberty’s current nine-match home winning streak is its longest since winning 15 straight home matches from Oct. 14, 2011 through Sept. 3, 2013.- Liberty has won back-to-back five-set matches for the first time since playing and winning three straight 3-2 contests Sept. 23 through Oct. 3, 2017.- During Saturday’s 3-2 win over Northern Arizona, Hannah Morris, Amaya Williams and Amelia Johnson all had double-doubles. It was the first time since Sept. 8, 2017 against Southern Utah that three Lady Flames recorded double-doubles in the same match.- The 2018 Lady Flames set a program record for most players to record a 10-kill match in a single season (9). So far this season, five Lady Flames (Amelia Johnson - 10, Casey Goodwin - 9, Anna Gragg - 3, Lilly Kruse - 1, Kailey Macy - 1) have recorded a 10-kill match. On Saturday against Northern Arizona, Gragg (21), Johnson (12), Macy (12) and Kruse (11) all reached double figures.- Liberty has defeated multiple ACC opponents in a single season for the first time in program his-tory, and is the first team from the Commonwealth of Virginia since William & Mary in 1995 to beat both Virginia and Virginia Tech in the same year.- Liberty downed Elon, Virginia Tech and Davidson in order to go 3-0 at the Liberty Invitational for the first time since 2015. Anna Gragg was voted Tournament MVP, while Macy Phillips was named Best Libero and Hannah Morris was named Best Setter.- The Lady Flames are 6-3 in sets decided by just two points and 4-1 in extended sets.- Liberty hit .461 against Elon, Sept. 7, its third-highest single-match hitting percentage in the rally-scoring era and best since hitting .483 against Saint Francis (Pa.), Sept. 5, 2008. - Liberty’s 11 aces against Virginia Tech on Sept. 7 were the team’s most since serving up 11 aces against Hampton, Sept. 3, 2016.- Seniors Anna Gragg (2018) and Casey Goodwin (2019) have both participated in US National Team tryouts.

He is 101-31 as a head coach, having led Concordia (CA), a first-year program, to the 2013 NAIA national title and earning NAIA AVCA National Coach of the Year Honors. Johnson spent two seasons (2016, 2017) as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Texas A&M, helping the Aggies land the No. 18 ranked recruiting class in the country in 2017. He served as the top volleyball assistant coach at Baylor in 2015, helping the Bears to a 20-12 record, the program’s highest win total in four season. Johnson spent five years at Concordia University in Irvine, Calif., including two years as an assistant women’s volleyball coach (2011-12), one year as head men’s volleyball coach (2013) and two years as Director of Volleyball (2013-15). During the 2011-12 seasons with Concordia’s women’s program, the Eagles won the NAIA national title in 2012 with a perfect 38-0 overall record and posted a 37-2 mark en route to a national-runner-up finish in 2011. Johnson’s efforts with Concordia were recognized by the AVCA in 2011 when he was named the AVCA 30 Under 30 Award recipient and the Southeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year. During his final three seasons at Concordia, Johnson served as Director of Volleyball, serving as head women’s coach and overseeing the men’s volleyball and sand volleyball programs. Johnson guided the women’s program to back-to-back GSAC conference championships and he had seven players earn NAIA All-America honors. Johnson served as assistant men’s and women’s volleyball coach at Cal Baptist in Riverside, Calif., during the 2007-09 and 2010-11 seasons. The Lancers posted a 127-39 record in his five years with the programs, with the men’s team winning the 2011 NAIA national championship. Johnson was an accomplished volleyball player on the court during his time as a four-year starter at California Baptist. He helped the Lancers win back-to-back NAIA national titles in 2004 and 2005 and he trained with the USA Men’s National Volleyball team in 2005 and 2006.
