What are my options?
• Freshmen will take either
ELA 9 or Honors ELA 9
THIS COURSE WILL CONSIST OF:
• Reading: including 1-2 novels each semester
Personal reading
• Writing: • Narrative, argument, and other non-fiction
• 4 years of ELA or 8 semesters are required for
graduation
Science
What will my child take?
• Science 9
– the majority of 9th graders will take this course
– Earth Science with a little Physics
• Biology
– must pass optional test that is given in the Spring after school hours at the Middle School
– contact Chad Keisel if student attends a different school
• 3 years of Science or 6 semesters are
required for graduation
Social Studies
Economics- Required class (.5 credit)
Survey course
Review of macro and
micro topics
Personal finance topics
World economy
overview
Current events
• 3 years of Social Studies or 6 semesters are
required for graduation
UNDERSTANDING DEMOCRACY
Mathematics
• Algebra 1- a majority of incoming students will take this course
• Geometry
(IF your child took Algebra 1 at the Middle School)
• 4 Math credits are required for graduation (8 semesters)
– Algebra 1, Geometry, & Algebra 2 are the state graduation requirements.

World Languages
Two years (4 semesters) OR
1 year of World Language PLUS 1 year in CTE
(Career Tech) or Visual Performing Arts
French 1 or Spanish 1
Spanish 2( IF your child took Spanish 1 at the Middle School)

is required• Students can take it in any of their four years

• Two seasons of a school sport or marching band
