About Southeast College Student Awards
There are many student awards available to those enrolled at Southeast College. In fact, entrance scholarships totaling
$65,000 have already been distributed to all full-time post-secondary students, while over $100,000 in scholarships and
bursaries will be awarded to current students in the spring of 2018 at Southeast College’s Industry-Education Luncheons.
Scholarships and bursaries are made possible through the generosity of many individuals, employers, organizations, and
community groups within southeast Saskatchewan who value education and continuous learning. The Government of
Saskatchewan also contributes a significant amount of funding through the Saskatchewan Innovation & Opportunity
Scholarship Program (www.gov.sk.ca), which matches the funds raised by post-secondary institutions through private
sector and community-based partners.
About this Guide
This guide describes all of the student awards available at Southeast College, a majority of which require students to
complete a formal application. Each award description states its value, number available, eligible campus location,
conditions and additional criteria required.
Because the Southeast College Education Foundation is continually working with current and new donors, awards may be
altered or added after this guide has been printed. Please be award that information may change throughout the year based
on donor’s wishes; however, be assured that your application will be considered for any new awards that are added
prior to the award selection process.
About the Application Form
An online application form is available at www.southeastcollege.org and must be submitted no later than 11:59 pm on
January 31, 2018. Award recipients will be contacted individually.
If you have questions or comments about the application, please contact your nearest Southeast College Student Advisor, or
send an email to [email protected]
If you are having problems with the online application or online access, please contact Liz Bohnert at (306) 848-2383 and a

Definitions
The following is an explanation of some important terminology used in this guide and in the application:
ABE refers to Adult Basic Education programs. A in the ABE column indicates that students in an ABE program are
eligible for those awards.
An Award is given in recognition of some specific superior accomplishment.
A Bursary is a monetary award given to a student based primarily on financial need. Bursaries also may include consideration
of academic achievement, school and community activities, qualities of leadership, or other criteria.
A Full‐time Student is defined as one who is taking course(s) that collectively require a minimum of 18 hours of scheduled
class time per week for a minimum period of 12 weeks. There are two exceptions to this definition:
a) For Apprenticeship and Trade: a complete level (depending on the trade) is required; and
b) For university courses: a minimum of 234 hours of scheduled class time for the academic year.
A Part‐time Student is defined as:
a) One who is taking courses of less than 12 weeks in duration, even if they collectively require more than 18 hours of
scheduled class time per week; or
b) One who is taking courses that are at least 12 weeks in duration but collectively require less than 18 hours of scheduled
class time per week.
Post-Secondary refers to Certificate, Diploma, or University programs. A in the Post-secondary column indicates that
students in a Certificate, Diploma, or University program are eligible for those awards.
A Scholarship is a monetary award made primarily on the basis of academic achievement. Scholarships also may include
consideration of school and community activities, qualities of leadership, financial need, or other criteria.
A Studentship is a monetary award which covers the cost of purchasing a seat in a program for one year. This includes tuition
and books. The selection is made on the basis of financial need, academic achievement, school and community activities,
qualities of leadership, or other criteria.
