Please make sure to state your child's name in your email. 8th Grade Graduation Lunch-We need gifts on or before Tuesday, May 22nd, as part of the 8th Grade Graduation Celebration, we wish to send each student home with a gift. The celebrations committee is asking parents to donate a fun gift, with a value no less than 10 dollars, no more than 20 dollars. The gifts may be dropped off to Ms. Mari Valdez in the 1st floor Vanguard Office. Parents are encouraged to donate gift cards as well as money, that will be used to purchase gifts. Parental support is greatly accepted and appreciated, if each parent donates just one gift we will easily satisfy this year’s goal. 2018 MUSINGS-We’re now accepting entries for Musings Literary Magazine from parents and stu- dents. Musings Magazine is published annually and contains student writing and art. I know Rogers students are writing all year – in class, for WITS, and so forth. Now is the time to celebrate their ef- forts. Please gather writing from your children and submit it for publication. Be sure that the student’s first and last names are on the submission as well as grade level. We also love to publish art (which includes photography)…but be sure the colors are vivid enough that they will reproduce. If the drawing is black and white, be sure it is dark enough to be copied. Please don’t send art on lined paper as the lines will show on the final proof. In May we will have an evening reception where your child can read his/her work. I’m looking forward to receiving entries! You may email them to margaretcrawfordmus- [email protected], or you may put them in the box I have in the main office at T H Rogers. This event will be held April 7 th at the United Way on Waugh Street. For those who will be new to Girls Elevated, it is an interactive multi-track event designed to educate young girls ages 8 -18, and their caregivers, on emotional and physical development, mental health and healthy relationships. We will have an inspirational speaker and learning activities for the girls and caregivers. Last year was a blast and this year we hope to exceed that! Comida para Graduados del 8º Grado–Necesitamos regalos antes del Martes, 22 de Mayo. Como parte de la Celebración de Graduación del 8º Grado, nos gustaría mandar cada alumno a casa con un regalo. El comité de celebraciones esta pidiendo que los padres donen un regalo divertido con un valor de $10 a $20. Los regalos pueden ser entregados a la Sra. Mari Valdez en la Oficina de Vanguard del primer piso. Los padres pueden donar tarjetas al igual que dinero, la cual serán utilizados para comprar regalos. Apoyo de los padres es muy bienvenido y acepta-do. Si cada padre dona solo un regalo, muy fácilmente llegaremos a nuestra meta este año.

MUSINGS 2018-Ya estamos aceptando entradas para nuestro Musings Literary Magazine por parte de padres y alumnos. Musings Magazine es publicado anualmente y contiene escrituras y arte hechas por nuestros alumnos. Yo sé que los alumnos de Rogers están escribiendo todo el año- en el salón, para WITS, y más. Ahora se ha llegado el tiempo para celebrar sus esfuerzos. Por favor junte las escrituras de sus hijos(as) y mándelas para ser publicados. Asegúrese que el nombre completo de su hijo(a) junto con su grado están escritos antes de mandarlos. También nos encanta publicar arte (incluyendo foto-grafía) pero asegúrese que los colores están bien vibrantes para poder que se reproduzcan bien. Si el arte está en blanco y negro, asegúrese que está suficientemente oscura para ser copiada. Por favor no mande arte en papel alineado por que las líneas saldrán en el producto final. En Mayo tendremos una recepción en la tarde donde su hijo(a) podrá leer su escritura. ¡Espero con entusiasmo sus entradas! Para todos los que sean nuevos para Girls Elevated, es un evento interactivo diseñado para educar a jovencitas de la edad de 8 – 18 años, y sus guardianes, sobre el desarrollo emocional y físico, salud mental y relaciones saludables. Tendremos un orador inspiracional y actividades de aprendizaje para las niñas y sus guardianes. ¡El año pasado fue fenomenal y este año esperamos superar eso!
