32. NSS volunteers hosted a SwachhataAndholana Programme in

Huyigondanahalli village in collaboration with Administration Training

Institution(ATI),Mysore on 22/10/2017. Trainees of ATI, KAS

probationary Officers and volunteers of our NSS units hosted swachchata

andolan by cleaning the premises of Grama Panchayath office, Schools and

roads of Huyigondanahalli village Two teachers and 96 students participated

in the programme.

33. AIDS Awarenessrallywas jointly organized by our college NSS units and

Department of Health and Family Welfare on 30/12/2017.

Volunteers of NSS units conducted a rally and created awareness

about AIDs . ASHA workers of Hunsur Taluk health department were

present in the rally. Taluk Health Education Officer Sri Mahadev and Sri

Arulappa Mutthu, Health inspector,Hunsur were present in the rally.

Dr.Kiran Kumar, NSS officer ,Unit-1 and Smt.Vijayalakshmi, NSS

officer, unit-2 and 100 NSS volunteers participated in the programme.

34. A Legal Awareness Program was organised by the NSS units of our

collegefollowed by AIDS awareness rally. It was conducted in collaboration

with Taluk Leagal Service Committee on 30/12/2017. NSS officers of our

college and 60 NSS volunteers participated in the programme. Programme

was inaugurated by honourable chief justice Sri Girish chatni. A special

lecture on child rights was given by Sri H.V. Venkatesh,Lawyer and

mediator, Hunsur.

Venue: Hunsur Town

35. A Procession was Organized on 11-07-2017 on the occasion of World

Population day. Special Lecture was given by Dr.Kiran Kumar C R on the

topic-Population Control. This Procession started from our College and it

moved on Main Roads of Hunsur City. Volunteers held banners and Slogans

about Population Control. The program aimed to create awareness in Public

and Provide Information about Population Control. Our volunteers presented

some Road Dramas and shows in the procession .Principal of our college

Sri Venkateshaiah, Dr. Kiran Kumar C.R and Mrs .Vijayalaskhmi.G and

100 NSS Volunteers took part in the procession.

36. A Goodwill Pledge Taking Programme was organized on 18-08-2017 in

the College Campus. The Importance of values of brotherhood and

Friendship was explained. 05 teachers and 100 students participated in the

programme. Dr. K.N. Mohan delivered lecture about the Good will day, Dr.

Palaksha, Professor Krishnamurthy Maiya and Dr. Ananda Sir also share the

37. National Service Scheme Day was celebrated on 27-09-2017 in the college.

The day was marked by a number of cultural events co-ordinated by the NSS

unit heads. Principal of our college Dr. Venkateshaiah , NSS Officer Dr.

Kiran Kumar C.R, Mrs .Vijayalaskhmi.G, our staff and100 NSS Volunteers

were Present in this Program .

38. A cleaning program was held in the premises of the Agricultural Product

Market under the Swachhata Abhiyana Scheme on 12/08/2017.150

volunteers and NSS officers, Unit-1 and unit-2 participated in this cleaning

programme.The programme was inaugurated by Sri Hampanna, Director

,Agricuture Product Market. Sri.Manjunath,Member, Agriculture Product

Market and Vegetable Merchants and Staffs of agriculture product market

were present in the Program .

39. Swachcha Bharath Abhiyan was held in the premises of the Govt.

Hospital under the Swachhata Abhiyana programme on 14/08/2017.

This programme was organized by our NSS units. Programme was

inaugurated by Dr.Handya,Medical officer, Hunsur. Sri Venkateshaiah,

Principal, Sri DD Urs Government First Grade college, presided over the

programme. Sri Mahadevu, Taluk Health Education Officer,Hunsur and Sri

Arulappa, Health inspector, Hunsur, Dr.C.R.Kiran Kumar,NSS officer Unit-

1 and Smt.Vijayalakshmi were present in the programme. 85 students

actively took part in this programme.

Venue: Sri D D Urs GFGC Hunsur

40. AFire Safety Awareness programme was jointly organised by our NSS

units and Fire brigade, Hunsur in the premises of the College on 15/09/2017.

Staff, teachers and 200 students of our college witnessed the programme.

Programme aimed to create awareness among students on the occasions

of fire accidents. Fire fighters presented a mock fire accident and demonstrated

how to escape and protect ourselves in case of fire emergency situation. NSS

officers Dr.C.R.Kirankumar, Smt.Vijayalakshmi were present in the

programme. Principal of our college Sri.Venkateshaiah presided over the

programme.

41. An awareness programme on Women’s Health Issues was conducted by

the NSS Units of our college in collaboration with Govt. Hospital

on17.10.2017. Dr.Amritha Kalkunike, Health officer, Hunsur, spoke on the

topic. Dr.Amritha kalkunike spoke on the common health problems faced by

women. Principal of our college Sri Venkateshaiah presided over the

programme. Sri Mahadevu, Taluk Health Education Officer, Hunsur, Sri

Arulappa, Health inspector, Smt.Mamatha, nurse, Health department, Dr.Kiran

Kumar, NSS officer Unit-1 and smt.Vijayalakshmi, NSS officer Unit-2, Master

degree students and NSS volunteers were present in the programme. 150

students participated in this programme.

42. Swachhata Abhiyana programme was jointly conducted by our college

NSS units and Rotary, Hunsur on 19/01/2018. NSS volunteers cleaned

rotary park Hunsur. Sri Shivakumar.V.Rao, President, rotary club was our

chief guest. NSS officers of our college guided the students and successfully

conducted swachchatha Abhiyan. Dr.Kiran Kumar, NSS officer Unit-1 and

smt.Vijayalakshmi, NSS officer Unit-2 and 50 students participated in the

programme.

43. Our college NSS units celebrated Voters Dayin collaboration with Taluk

Office, Hunsur on 11/1/2018. Tahasildar Sri Basavaraja was our chief guest.

Sri Basavaraja spoke on the significance of voting. Principal of our college

Dr.Venkateshaiah presided over the programme. Sri Gururaj, Revenue

inspector, Hunsur gave the information to the students about how to enrol in

the voter’s list and spoke about the significance of voting. Dr.Kiran Kumar,

NSS officer Unit-1 and smt.Vijayalakshmi, NSS officer Unit-2, faculty and 90

NSS Volunteers participated in the Program.

Venue: Sai Baba Temple Humsur

44. NSS volunteers participated in the Anna Santarpana programme as

volunteers at Sri ShiradI Saibaba temple in Hunsur on 1/2/2018 and

2/2/2018. The event lasted for two days and was attended by 70 volunteers.

Our NSS volunteers actively participated in the programme and their work

was appreciated by the public. Managing the crowd, distribution ,time

management and community service were the lessons learnt.

45. An Awareness programme on Protection of Heritage Buildings was jointly

conducted by the two NSS units and Dept. of Archeology and Heritage

Department under the Swachhata Abhiyana on 21/03/2018. Swachchatha

abhiyan was conducted at Gommatagiri, Hunsur taluk. Gommatagiri is a

historical place and holy place for jains in Karnataka. Our volunteers cleaned

the premises of Gommatagiri, a religious and tourist place. This one day

programme was very successful.85 volunteers participated in this

46. NSS units of our college and LIC office, Hunsur jointly organized a special

lecture programme on the topic -Employment Opportunitieson LIC

18/10/2018. Sri Subrahmanya Bhat, Manager, LIC, Hunsur inaugurated the

programme. Sri Mohan Kumar spoke on the topic. Our principal

Dr.Venkateshaiah presided over the programme.NSS officers, 10 teachers

and 85 students participated in the programme.

47. A speech competition on Adolescent Problems was organized on 24-03-

2018 by NSS units in collaboration with Taluk Health Department ,Hunsur .

80 students participated in the programme.Sri Mahadev, chief guest of the

programme spoke on the topic. Students enthusiastically took part in this

competition. Sri Mahadev THEO, Hunsur and Sri Arulappa announced the

list of the winners. Prizes were distributed to the winners. Our principal

Dr.Venkateshaiah presided over the programme. Programme was concluded

by the vote of thanks by Dr.C.R. Kirankumar, NSS officer, Unit-1 of our

college.

48. A tree planting program was organized by the NSS units on 17/07/2018 in

the college. 80 students participated in the programme.50 saplings were

planted on the occasion. 10 students participated in the

programme.Awareness of significance of tree planting, plantation

techniques,knowledge of tree species were the lessons learnt.

49. Swachchata Pakhwara programme was celebrated in our college as per the

directions given by state NSS cell. NSS Volunteers of our college created

awareness about cleanliness in our college. Cleaning of Classrooms, Library

and College Premises was undertaken by the NSS units under

SwacchataPakwar scheme from 1/8/2018 to 8/8/2018. 150 NSS volunteers

actively participated in the program. NSS officer Dr.Kiran Kumar C.K. and

Smt Vijayalakshmi guided and inspired the students. Programme was

appreciated by our college staff.

Date & Time: 07-02-2018, 10.00 AM

Venue: Neralkuppe Village

50. A Free Eye Checkup Camp was organized by the NSS units of our college

in collaboration with the Government Hospital, Hunsur on 07/02/2018 in

Neralakuppe village. 03 teachers and 97 students participated in this

programme. This programme aimed to create awareness among villagers

about eye care. Ophthalmologists of Government Hospital Hunsur conducted

eye check-up. They prescribed spectacles for the people who have vision

problems. And some villagers were adviced to go for eye hospitals to get

proper treatment, surgeries. School students of Neralakuppe village, villagers

got benefitted from this programme.

51. Two units of college’s NSS committees held a special talk on Information

related to Revenue Department in collaboration with Revenue

Departmenton 9/02/2018.Deputy Tahasildar of Hanagodu village Sri

Narahari, Chief guest and speaker spoke about old age pension,RTC, caste

and income certificates and Kandaya Adalath. This programme aimed to

create awareness about old age pension and facilities provided by revenue

department for publics. Villagers interacted with the speaker and cleared

their doubts regading the subject.5 faculty members and 98 students

participated in the camp.

52. A special lecture on “Facilities Available from the Department of

Agriculture” was organized by the NSS units in collaboration with the

department of agriculture on 06/02/2018. Dr.Sri venkatesh, Assistant

director , Department of Agriculture, Hunsur spoke on the topic. In his

speech he shed light on the facilities provided by department of agriculture

and how to get benifitted by the facilities. Sri Ganapathi K, Member, Taluk

Panchayath presided over the programme. Sri Krishnamurthy Maiya,

Dr.Vindu Vahini and other staff of our college witnessed the programme.

53. A Special talk on “Law and Order” was organized by the NSS units of our

college in collaboration with the Police Department on 7/2/2018. Sri

Puttaswamy, Circle inspector, Hunsur spoke on the topic ‘law and order.’

He made the villagers aware of the traffic rules and regulations. Villagers

and volunteers interacted with the chief guest. Mr.Govinde Gowda, President

of State Government employees society, old NSS volunteers of our college ,

panchayath members, NSS officers were present in the programme.

54. A Special talk on “Legal Aid awareness” was organized by the NSS units of

our college in collaboration with the Department of Legal Aid on 8/2/2018.

The programme was inaugurated by the dignitaries by watering the plant. Sri

Girish Chatny, Honourable chief justice, Hunsur spoke on the topic. The

programme aimed to create awareness among the villagers about the

facilities and aid provided by Legal Aid Department. Sri Mahesh.K.D.

president, Gram Panchayath of Neralakuppe, presided over the programme.

Smt.Pavithra.S.R. lawyer, Hunsur spoke about child marriage in villages and

legal complications.98 NSS volunteers, 2 faculty and about two hundred

55. A Special talk on “Career Opportunities in LIC” was organized by the NSS

units in collaboration with LIC on 10/2/2018. Sri Subrahmanya Bhat,

Manager, LIC, Hunsur inaugurated the programme. He spoke about the

importance of savings and insurance. Smt.Pushpalatha, Member of Grama

panchayath presided over the programme.NSS officers. 98 volunteers, 2

faculty and about a hundred villagers attended the program.

56. A Special talk on “Bad Effects of Smoking and Drinking” was organized by

the NSS units on 11/2/2018. Dr.Prasad, Assistant professor of economics,

GFGC,Hullahalli spoke on the topic. He shed light on the socio-economical

problems caused by smoking and Drinking. He also made the villagers aware

of the health problems caused by smoking and drinking.The programme was

presided by Smt.Nalini, Vice president, Grama Panchayath, Neralakuppe.

57. A Voting Awareness Procession was taken out in the town of Hunsur by

students of our college on 6/1/2019. Principal of our college

Dr.Venkateshaiah inaugurated the rally. Dr.H.R.Prakash spoke about the

significance of voting and democracy. NSS volunteers of our college held

banners and marched in main roads of Hunsur to create awareness about

voting. Dr.KiranKumar, NSS officer, Unit-1 and Smt Vijayalakshmi, NSS

officer, Unit-2 were present in the rally. 150 students participated in the

rally.

58. A special lecture programme was conducted by our NSS units on 21-10-

2018. Dr.Pushpavathi Amaranath gave a special lecture on the topic Zero

Waste management’. This programme aimed to create awareness about

waste management, proper disposal of waste, Dr.Pushpavathi Amarnath also

emphasised on proper disposal of food wastage. 05 teachers and 97 NSS

volunteers participated in this programme.

Theatre Activity

59. Our college hosted a drama, Kavyaranga, based on Kannada literature on

30/8/2017. 05 teachers and 120 students participated in this programme.It

was a programme hosted by Kvyaranga, a literary organisation.It

aaprovided information about Kannada Literature since the times of

Kavirajamarga, a well-known Kannada literary work of ancient Kannada

period.It was an effort to create awareness about the history and evolution

of the culture of Kannada speaking people.

Heritage Awareness Programme

60. A Coin Exhibition was jointly organized by the History Department in

collaboration with Heritage Clubon10.10.2017. Principal Dr.Venkateshaiah,

presided over the programme. Dr.K.N.Mohan, Dr.Harish Kumar,

Dr.B.C.Suresh and guest faculties of History Department were present in

the programme. Dr.Shivarajappa, Director, Gandhi Adhyayana Samsthe,

University of Mysore, inaugurated the programme. Numismatist Sri Hosa

Agrahara Ramarao, displayed his collection of coins and also inspired the

students to collect the coins. 20 teachers and 200 students participated in

the programme.

61. A plantation programme by the Eco Club was held on 23.08.2017. Member

and ex-chairman of KPSC Prof. Krishnaprasad added a sapling to the

campus greenery. 09 teachers and 10 students participated in the

programme.Sri Ravi, Convenor of the Club, Sri Guruswamy, Placement

Officer and faculty members participated in the programme.

62. A team of students staged a drama titled Bahumukhaas part of

Rangottaranaa drama series in Ballaryon31.07.2017.Pallavi

C.K.,Harshitha,Anitha,SubhashA.S.,Puneethkumar,DarshanH.U.,Chinthan,Lo

kesh,Arjun,Suneel,Mahadeva and Vinodkumar were the 10 students who

64. A special lecture on Women Empowerment was organized on8th march,

2017. 150 students 20 teachers attended the

programme.Prof.Sowbhagyavati ,Assistant Professor of Kannada,

Maharaja’s College, Mysore was the guest of honour.She spoke about the

issues related to women empowerment.Members of Anti-Women

Harassment Committee co-ordinated the programme.

Green Initiative

66. Plantation programme by the Eco club was held on 21.02.2018. Dr.Ismail

Naci Cangul,Professor of Mathematics, University of Turkey, a special

invitee joined the Green Growth activity by planting a sapling. 15 members

participated in the programme.Students faculty members participated in

the programme.Dr.Ismail appreciated the efforts of the Club in bringing

greenery to the campus.His visit was made memorable by the planting of

sapling.
