Venture Weekendat Bomazeen

July 5th - 9th

The Pine Tree Council is dedicating a weekend of summer camp for those of us that wear "green." Camp Bomazeen will be the setting for targeted training and activities for Venture Scouts and will include the opportunity to participate in a Wilderness First Aid Course.

2017 Winter Programs

OKPIK

OKPIK Maine is designed to teach Scouts the basics of winter camping. In this program, crews will pack their gear onto sleds (or "pulks") and head out into the wilderness to spend 1-2 nights. Scouts will learn how to set up a winter campsite, how to build survival shelters and how to cook meals at low temperatures. In addition, they will get to try out a full array of outdoor activities. Friday to Sunday.

WINTER CAMP

Registration Fees for 2017: $330$300 if paid in full by January 15th.

During the deep snows of next February school vacation, 28 lucky Boy Scouts will be able to stay warm and cozy in the Rotary Training Center at Camp Hinds. Pine Tree Council will be hosting Winter Camp 2017 February 19th – 24th. Winter Camp is a week long provisional resident camp program for Scouts 13 years and older and at least First Class Rank. Camp provides adult leaders, patrol leaders, and merit badge counselors. Come alone or with a buddy. Scouts can earn merit badges, participate in outdoor winter skills, meet new friends and have fun!

Most camp staff members are 16 years of age to adult, but we do have a few select positions for youth who are a year or so younger. The high-adventure programs employ young people who are at least 18 years of age. Shooting Sports Specialty Week 6 at Hinds

Interested in learning more about the shooting sports? Join us at Camp Hinds for Week 6!There will be an emphasis on the shooting sports and will allow you to learn some more advanced skills and techniques as well as mastering the basics. In addition to the usual merit badge courses we offer there will be advanced classes in Rifle, Pistol, Archery, and Shotgun featuring special equipment and guest instructors. Scuba Specialty Weeks at Hinds Want to explore the world beneath thewaves? Join us during week 2, 3 , or 4 for the SCUBA program at Hinds. Now this is adventure! Get the tools you need to explore the underwater world! Participation will result in several rewards including the Scuba BSA Award, & Scuba Diving Merit Badge. Best of all you can earn your NAUI Diver Certification which will allow you to dive all over the world for the rest of your life! This is an afternoon only program so Scouts will be able to take up to 3 merit badges in the morning in addition to this program. Ready to add an adventure onto your week of camp? This 2 night sea kayaking adventure starts when your week of camp ends on Friday and includes an overnight at our Rouse Island outpost with an introduction to the coast of Maine. It originates at Hinds.

This 50 miler includes canoeing the Moose River with whitewater rafting. You'll enjoy challenging yourself traveling in the backcountry by canoe and have the thrill of riding a raft through Maines whitewater. This originates at Bomazeen

Ready to explore the Maine Coast? Take a Sea Kayak Trek in Casco Bay. Experience 50 miles of seals, seabirds, waves, and deserted islands. This originates at Hinds.

Pine Tree Council Treks These high adventure provisional opportunities are designed for olderscouts that have enjoyed camp for a couple of years and are now ready for a greater challenge. They are all based around a 50 mile backcountry experience. All participants should expect a physically challenging, rewarding, and exciting week. They are designed so that Scouts can arrive and depart with their troops at the camp they originate from.

50 miles of the most difficult stretch of the Appalachian Trail. Expect to hike 12 miles day with all you need on your back. This is the most challenging trek we offer. Are you Scout enough? This originates at Hinds.
