ANDRE

STUBENRAUCH

ROMANTIC AT H EART

PATRICK DRUAUL T

DAVID SURMAIRE

READY FOR ANYTHING

There's a sheriff in town at L'Arche Trosly, and that man is David (33): fearless protector, would-be action hero, and all-round dispenser of justice.

'I'm a strong man. I'm not interested in being small. '

As a young man Michel (75) broke out of the violent secure asylum where he was expected to spend the rest of his life. He walked undetected thirty kilometers back to his family home and went on to become part of L'Arche's pioneer generation. He found peace, and on request repeats the mantras that keep him optimistic.

'Life is a great mystery. A painful mystery. A joyful mystery. A glorious mystery. '

Michel would love to get married. Still single he acknowledges that his friends support him as well as a wife would have done.

CELINE INNOCENT

TAKING CONTROL

Celine (32) found independence in the peace and quiet of her own flat; and she's also found love, with Fred

Guillemet (26). The two met at Lourdes, and their chemistry was obvious from the beginning.

'He riJas sitting next to me and I hit him ri!ith a bottle of Coca Cola! AfterriJards ri!e got together. '

ABOUT L'ARCHE

Summer in the Forest portrays a L'Arche Community in France. The first UK Community opened in Kent in 1974 and there are now Communities in Bogner, Brecon, Edinburgh, Inverness, Ipswich, Kent, Liverpool, London, Manchester, and Preston.

'I have lived at L'Arche Bognar for six years. Before, I r.vas in North London - I lived in a flat on my or.vn for thirteen years. Coming to L'Arche r.vas the biggest move of my life. When I first came here, I sar.v the sea, and I got so excited. '

- Joanna, Core Member, L'Arche Bognar

If the film inspires you to become involved with L'Arche, there are a number of ways to do this. You could consider becoming an assistant or volunteering in a Community. You may also consider making a donation or fund raising. There is an enormous and growing need for the work of L'Arche in the UK and worldwide.

'I kner.v from an early age that I r.vanted to spend time r.vith people r.vho r.vere vulnerable and on the margins. Other providers are doing amazing r.vork, but L'Arche offers something quite different, and that is about real, honest, adult relationships of equality.

L'Arche is not a solution for everyone but it's here to be a 'sign of hope'. Particularly in the current climate, people in our society need to knor.v that r.ve 're better together than apart. L'Arche is an international community: r.ve have people of all ages, backgrounds, experiences. We model trust and unity rather than suspicion and division. '

- Hugh, Community Leader at L'Arche Bognar
