The World Street Food Congress (WSFC) is a symposium, conference and a mega

street feasting festival that celebrates and seeks opportunities and possibilities for the

world’s most popular food culture – heritage and comfort street food. The WSFC is

not just about comfort food and deliciousness. The WSF Dialogue component is

opportunities we can create tomorrow. The third installation of the WSFC2016 sails

from Singapore to the Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Metro Manila, Philippines, after

two successful runs in the Lion City (2013 and 2015). http://www.wsfcongress.com

“The world so needs a World Street Food Congress”

That’s where the feeding frenzy happens and where a world of opportunities reside”

KF Seetoh, Founder - Makansutra and Creator-WSFC

The Philippines, voted by CNN as one of the most exciting culinary cities to watch,

has a dynamic food heritage inherited from its native flavors and the many world

“The Comforting Flavors of Home”

Building upon the world’s most endearing food culture.

to Preserve. Professionalise. Possibilities

The world’s oldest and grandest street food culture arose from an era where

opportunities were rare; folks trying their level best to make ends meet had to hawk

their heritage and often ingenious recipes on the streets to eke out a living. Over the

decades and centuries, these dishes have become iconic and beloved by the

masses. The majority in such cities, rely on these comfort heritage street foods today

and it has become a big part of the culinary culture of the land.

The World Street Food Congress seeks to create a new world order of this culture

and industry through the 3 Pillars of Purpose:

1. To Preserve- its ways, recognise and capture its Heritage and Culture

2. To Professionalise- the thinking, methodology, approach and

3. To seek Possibilities- in the field of the most iconic and beloved food culture

of the world.

The World Street Food Congress 2016 seeks to address the inherent opportunities of

this heritage street food culture through a series of conversation and activities.

It seeks to address:

1. Awareness of the Potentials and Possibilities of Heritage Street Food Culture in

the fields of Tourism, Trade, Economic Opportunities, Craft Development and

Training, Social Responsibilities and Governance.

2. Touch on topics that open up opportunities in the space of street food

entrepreneurism, culinary tourism and job creation in this industry.

3. Bring in world-class players and speakers in this field to share and where

possible, partner up for local and international opportunities.

4. Makansutra, the force behind the World Street Food Congress, will lead the

way by announcing the development of its first ever international street food

court and market in Manila, to be launched in the second half of 2016. It will

feature street food and flavors from around the world.
