BATTERY CARE AND MAINTENANCE:

Your Blackmore Speaker comes with a non spill able lead acid battery pre-installed. There are no user service-able parts on your speaker. However, the battery’s life depends on how you charge and maintain it. Below are several crucial points you must follow in order to preserve the life and performance of your battery and protect your factory warranty.

1. Allow a full charge before use. 2. Do not over charge your battery. Disconnect from power source once battery is full. 3. Do not allow your battery to fully drain.

Step one:When you first plug your speaker into a power source (12V or AC) you begin to charge your unit for the first time. It is important to allow a complete charge before you disconnect from a power source or use the speaker for the first time. Allowing a full charge before use ensures that all the cells in your battery are activated. Full cell activation only happens during initial charge.

Step two:Ensure that you disconnect the power source from the battery once it is fully charged. Over charging the battery will cause the cells in the battery to break down and deteriorate. All rechargeable Blackmore Speakers have a battery status indicator that shows when the battery is fully charged.

Step three: Never allow the battery on your unit to drain completely. Draining the battery completely will also cause the cells within the battery to lose their conductivity. You can tell when your battery is running low by the battery status indicator or by your speaker producing a gradual lower volume.

Following these steps will ensure that your battery performs and lasts the full life of your speaker. Not following these steps will void our warranty.

USING FM/ PRESETS:

The FM tuners we use operate off of FM Station presets. The FM tuner programming will scan the entire FM bandwidth for available stations. FM (stereo) stations that are received are assigned a preset. To find and play your desired FM station use the “next and previous” buttons located on the MP3 player control panel or your remote control if included. Units that have a remote control with a number pad can also direct input the desired FM station numbers.

USING BLUETOOTH:

When connecting a Bluetooth device to your speaker first ensure that your BT source unit(Phone, MP3 player, Tablet etc..) is turned on and “discoverable”. Next make sure your speaker Is turned on, and in Bluetooth Mode. Once completed go back to your Source unit and do a search for available Bluetooth devices. In most cases your model number will be the title of the device but in some cases it could be a generic alphanumerical name. It’s best practice to have all other possible Bluetooth devices turned off when trying to connect to your speaker. Only one Bluetooth source unit can be connected at a time but any number of source units can be paired to the speaker for later connection.

CONNECTING MULTIPLE AMPLIFIED SPEAKERS TOGETHER:

Connecting multiple amplified speakers together consists of sharing a single audio source throughout all con-nected speakers. To achieve this, the speakers you are connecting must have an audio source input connection and an audio source output connection. Essentially 1 speaker will be your master unit and all others will be slave units. On the master unit you will connect at the audio output, the other end of your cable will be connect-ed to a line input on your next speaker. Continue using the line out to line in method on each additional speaker. Once all cable connections have been made correctly you will need to make sure all gains and volume controls are set to appropriate levels. Gain controls that are set too high will cause clipping in some or all of your speak-ers. Ensure that your audio source gains and input gains aren’t set too high to achieve clean distortion free sound.

HOW TO VOID CLIPPING:

Clipping is a term used to describe an amplifiers inability to amplify the full audio signal and thus “clips” a por-tion of it. This usually occurs when an amplifier is receiving more input signal than it can process. Adjusting the gain levels on your audio source is crucial to maintaining a clean distortion free audio signal. When connecting your audio source units to your amplified speaker ensure that your source gain or volume is not set too high. Output voltage on source units varies by model so you will need to adjust your gains to maximum output without causing clipping. If there are multiple gain controls, start them all at “0” and gradually increase them equally until you reach your desired level. Clipping can also be caused by over equalization. If you are using an equalizer ensure that your levels are appropriate for the audio signal you are playing.

AVOIDING MICROPHONE FEEDBACK:

When using a microphone with your amplified speaker it is important to ensure that your Microphone is in good working order. Also, that your cable is secure and not damaged or broken. A short circuited microphone ca-ble can cause tremendous feedback and distortion. Ensure that your microphone gain level isn’t set too high. Ensure that you avoid placing your Microphone near speakers, the ambient signal can be looped between the Microphone and Speakers which causes feedback.

USING 12V (AUTOMOTIVE CHARGING SYSTEMS) AS A POWER SUPPLY:

If your Amplified speaker has a built in 12V power supply that means you can use your vehicles electrical system to power your speaker and charge its internal battery if equipped with one. To do so you will need a Power and Ground cable long enough to reach a charging point in your car(varies by model) and no smaller than 10 AWG.

First connect the negative cable to the negative input on your speakers 12v inputs. Next connect the negative cable to your vehicles grounding post or location. Next Connect the positive cable to the positive side of your car battery or charging post(varies by vehicle) ** at the point the cable has a charge, ensure that it does not touch any ground or negative contact on your speaker. Spark and fire danger can occur*** Finally, connect your posi-tive cable to your speaker ensuring that the negative and positive contacts or wires never touch. Once all cables are secure and connected correctly you power your unit on.
