Students were selected using the following data points: reading level ranges, Fall to Spring MAP growth, and teacher recommendation. Students will work in small class settings to learn and practice strategies for reading and writing during the five week camp at Polo Road Elementary. Richland County Sheriff’s Department Stars of Tomorrow

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department will host the Stars of Tomorrow Summer Camp. This is a 2-week session for rising 3rd -5th graders. The camp will include an introduction to DARE and Great programs as well as activities to promote fitness and team building.

This summer program will offer expanded opportunities for our 21st Century Junior Scientists, Technology Specialists, Engineers, Artists and Mathematicians. It will include Lego Mathematics, Lego Story Building, Robotics, Hands-On/Minds-On Science Investigations and Engineering. Drumline, Strings, Junior STEAM Chefs, and Chess will also be offered.

July 11 - 15 Camp Invention Students will brainstorm product ideas and build original prototypes using real tools and components found in everyday devices. They will also participate in the following:

Explore the lives of giant insects, colorful animals and their environments

Construct and personalize a DIY solar-powered cricket with a unique habitat

Discover the science of slime, demolition, electronic sound, giant squid and coding

Polo Road TBD Kindergarten Camp Rising kindergarten students will participate in a variety of activities to successfully transition into kindergarten.

Pontiac June 6 - 30 Primary Montessori Summer Camp

The program will immerse students in weekly themes that will align with the Montessori Method.

Winning Windsor Wildcats Students will receive intensive reading and math instruction and participate in enrichment activities provided by the Boys and Girls Club of the Midlands.

All Middle Schools

August 16 Step Up to 6th Grade The program will offer support for rising 6th grade students to ensure successful transitions to middle school. Each middle school will host Step Up to 6th Grade on August 16th.

June 13 - August 4 Youth Development Academy

The Urban League of Columbia is sponsoring a camp for district students from the ages of 10 – 13 on the campus of Dent Middle School. The camp focuses on leadership, life skill development, career awareness and service learning.

June 27 – July 16 Tri-District Arts Consortium Rising 6th - 9th grade artistically gifted and talented students from the Midlands (Richland 2, Richland/Lexington 5, & Lexington 1) will participate in the annual Tri-District Arts Consortium. Tri-DAC will provide intense courses in band, creative writing, dance, strings, theater, visual art, and vocal. Participation by a variety of guest artists and performers will enhance instruction. Students will share their final products in a culminating showcase.

Engineering Camp for Middle School Boys

The camp is designed to increase non-traditional completion of CATE programs by focusing on middle school boys interested in engineering. It will utilize the summer curriculum sponsored by Project Lead The Way entitled “Gateway Academy” to prepare students for the rigors of high school science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) classes and will be located at Spring Valley High School.

Summer Enrichment

The program will provide opportunities for students to enhance their learning experiences in all content areas while completing the requirements for Blythewood Academy. Students will have the opportunity to improve their academic skills in all core content areas and to participate in a variety of enrichment opportunities at IT-oLogy, State Museum of Art and Camp Discovery.

July 25 - 27 6th Grade JumpStart Camp This transition camp for rising 6th graders is designed to help students learn the ins and outs of middle school. Students will participate in scavenger hunts, science experiments, and summer reading activities. They will learn how to navigate their lockers, play academic games and get to know the 6th grade teachers while making friends.

Dent Middle June 6 - 30 GEAR UP Summer Academic Institute

This summer institute is sponsored by GEAR Up and will focus on reading, writing, and mathematics.

June 13 - 16 Summer Academy The purpose of Summer Academy is to provide academic support for students who have struggled academically.

July 18 – July 28 Richland County Sheriff’s Department Sports Camp

The camp is designed for rising 7th – 9th graders and is sponsored by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. It will include an introduction to fundamentals and skill building for a variety of sports to include basketball, flag football and baseball. The focus will be on team building, character and sportsmanship.

July 25 - 28 TLC- Transition for Success This camp is an orientation for TLC students.

August 2 - 4 TWO Transition Program This program is designed to transition TWO Academies students to middle school.

E. L. Wright Middle

August 8 - 9 LAW Orientation The camp will help students transition to the LAW Program.

June 20 -30 GEAR UP Summer Academic Institute

This camp for rising 9th graders will focus on Algebra I, English I, AVID strategies and soft skills.

Kelly Mill Middle

June 6 - 20 Summer Academy The purpose of Summer Academy is to provide academic support for students who have struggled academically.

August 1 -3 Ready, Set, thINC! Camp The camp is offered to rising 6th grade INC students. It will provide support for students transitioning to the INC Program.

June 13 - 16 Leopard Ink Students will explore the art of creative expression through writing. Leopard Ink is designed for students who enjoy reading and writing short stories and poetry.

June 13 -16 Game On! Sports and Fitness Camp

The camp incorporates physical activity, healthy habits and social awareness to move students toward a lifetime of health and wellness.

June 13 - 16 Color Me RAD! Students will create a painting daily while learning about mixing colors, blending, brush techniques and a bit of art history.

June 20 – 23 Mock Trial Prep Students will learn the basics of Mock Trial for participation on next year’s Mock Trial Team.

July 11 - 14 Summer Engineering Academy

The camp is designed for students with a high interest in math and science and who may be interested in engineering careers. Students will have opportunities to explore engineering in this exciting, hands-on camp via interactive activities and competitions.

The purpose of the academy is to provide academic support students who have struggled academically.

August 2 - 4 Summer Stampede The camp will provide rising 6th graders with a jump start on middle school life.

August 8 - 9 Lead Up The camp is designed as an orientation for rising Leadership Academy students.

An online district summer school will be provided for 9th – 11th grade students at Spring Valley High School.

August 16 Fresh Start The program will offer support for rising 9th grade students to ensure successful transitions to high school. Each high school will host a Fresh Start Program on August 16th.

Alive at 25 This program has been developed for adolescent drivers by the National Safety Council to focus on making good decisions and avoiding risky behaviors.

June 6 - 8 Bengal Softball Camp The camp is designed for students from 1st – 8th grades interested in softball.

June 6 - 9 Bengal Baseball Camp There will be two baseball camps this year. One will focus on the
