The Irving B. Harris Leadership Award was presented to Andi Srulovitz. A past JCFS Board Member, Andi chaired the first Striking Event in 2010, giving us the momentum to continue this successful event for years to come. Her commitment to the Jewish community through her leadership at JCFS, the Jewish Federation and beyond, will impact lives for generations.
Irving B. Harris Leadership Award
Our What’s Possible Award was presented to Dr. IrvingDistelheim. As a young man, a scholarship from Jewish Children’s Bureau allowed Dr. Distelheim to continue his education and help support his family during the Great Depression. He became adecorated medical officer in World War II, a successfuldermatologist, art critic and gallery owner. His hard work, determination and achievement exemplify the unlimited potential each individual has within.
dr. irving distelheimWhat’s Possible Award
Thank you so much for supporting Jewish Child and Family Services through your participation in Striking Event 2016! Again this year, our incredibly generous community has come through, ensuring the availability of our broad range of services for individuals and families in need of the Agency’s support.
At 159 years and counting, JCFS continues to respond with expert services, care and compassion for those in our community facing life challenges, regardless of their ability to pay. Whether through our counseling and mental health, special education, child welfare or services for individuals with disabilities, our amazing and talented staff stands ready to provide the support necessary to assist those seeking our assistance in achieving their goals.
Special thanks to our dedicated Board of Directors for all of their many contributions to the Agency’s success throughout the year. We also want to express our deepest appreciation to this year’s Striking Event co-chairs Karen Levine and Mitch Kaufman. Their leadership contributed immeasurably to the success of today’s event. The JCFS are deeply appreciative of the commitment and leadership of all of our lay leaders.
We are truly honored to present the 2016 Irving B. Harris Leadership Award to Andi Srulovitz. As an original Striking Event “pioneer”, Andi gave this benefit the creativity and energy required to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for JCFS’ life changing programs and services. Andi is a tireless advocate in the Jewish community on behalf of children and families, and JCFS has been very fortunate to benefit from her commitment to our work.
Dr. Irving Distelheim is the definition What’s Possible. As a teen during the Great Depression, resources were scarce and with the help of a scholarship from the Jewish Children’s Bureau, he was able to not only provide support for his family, but go on to a distinguished career in medicine and served as a decorated officer in World War II. Congratulations and thanks to both of our honorees for their incredible accomplishments, and to everyone who has contributed to the continuing impact that JCFS has had on our community. Enjoy the Day!
With best wishes,
Howard SitronPresident & Chief Executive Officer
