Joffrey San Francisco Orientation and Arrival Information Dear Parents and Dancers, With summer fast approaching, we hope you are becoming as excited as we are with anticipation of our summer intensives. In preparation for the program we have prepared this orientation and arrival packet for your review. It is chock full of information regarding arrival, on site orientation, parking directions, staff contact information, performance details and so forth.
Orientation and Arrival Orientation and arrival times depend on whether or not you will be staying in our housing facilities. All students, both commuter and housing, will attend orientation at the Little Theatre. Program Orientation is on Mondays at 8:00 AM. Detailed driving and parking directions (using Parking Structure 20 at the end of State Drive) can be found at the end of this manual along with a campus map. Commuter students should arrive at 7:30am to complete registration, including providing the required doctor’s note and medical authorization. Please see the Joffrey website to download the required forms. Dormitory Arrivals and General Information If you are staying at Joffrey Housing on campus in MARY WARD HALL or Towers Junior Suites at Centennial Village, you will attend an orientation for the housing facilities on Sunday evening at 7PM. We will let you know the location when you check in. Details about housing amenities can be found on the housing manual on the Joffrey Ballet School website. Please bring the required doctor’s note and medical authorization with you to check in, as we need a hard copy on site. These forms can be downloaded from the Joffrey website. Check-‐in is every Sunday from 12PM to 4 PM and check-‐out will be on Saturdays from 9 AM to 11 AM. It is important that you email Kayla Williams if you will arrive outside of the check-‐in hours ([email protected] ). MARY WARD HALL is located in area “F2” on the campus map (South West Quad 3). MARY WARD HALL is located on the corner of Lake Merced Boulevard and State Drive. Parking for MARY WARD HALL is a short distance past the building on State Drive in Parking Structure 20, or street parking. More detailed driving directions, including from area airports, can be found at the end of the packet along with a campus map. Airport Transportation We do not provide transportation from the airport. Two popular shuttle services from local airports are Super Shuttle (http://www.supershuttle.com/) or Road Runner Shuttle Service (www.rrshuttle.com/) Schedules and Class Assignment Your class assignment and schedules will be handed out at orientation. Class start times are staggered. If you are commuting you can expect that your first class will start at approximately 9:00 AM and end at 6:00 PM. Saturday class runs from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. On Mondays there is a program orientation at 8:30am for all new students, both housing and commuter. This orientation will be held in the Little Theater, in the Creative Arts Building on campus. Schedules will be posted for the upcoming week at the dormitory each weekend. Schedules will also be sent via e-‐mail and posted on Joffrey Ballet School’s website for the upcoming week during the weekend prior to the upcoming week. Please e-‐mail Alison at [email protected] if you still have not received your schedule the Sunday before the start of your session. IMPORTANT: Pre-‐determined group assignments are based on the dancer’s age and the audition score the dancer received during the 2016 audition tour. On the first day of every week, the artistic director and instructors will also observe the classes and verify the dancers are in the correct group. Please note, only the artistic director and instructors can initiate group changes, not parents nor students.
