    Taiwan’s Education SystemThe people of Taiwan are very well educated, literacy is about 98.39%, and students from Taiwan score very high on international tests. These achievements are the product of cultural and societal values that hold education in high esteem, and the comprehensive education system created to achieve Taiwan’s goals of becoming a well-educated, economic and technological powerhouse on the world stage. Under the current education system, after preschool students may study for up to 20 years: 6 years of primary education, 3 years of junior high school, 3 years of senior secondary school, 4 to 7 years of college or university, 2 to 4 years for a master’s degree and 2 to 7 years for a doctoral degree.

    INTRODUCTION

    China Medical University (CMU) was founded in 1958 and now has developed into a world-class university with several Joint Commission International (JCI) -accredited hospitals with over 5000 beds. China Medical University is ranked top 200 in Clinical Medicine and Pharmacy and top 400 overall in 2015 Academic Rankings of World Universities. CMU is very strong in cancer research, Chinese Medicine, stem cell research, acupuncture and brain diseases.     INTRODUCTION

    KMU, established in 1954, is the first private medical university and the only university with access to graduate-entry medical programs (the School of Post-Bachelor Degree of Medicine) in Taiwan. The university runs several Dual Ph.D. Degree programs with foreign universities to provide students with more opportunities. In addition, KMU partners with elite faculties such as Harvard Medical School to offer study exchange programs.     INTRODUCTION

    Nanhua University is a member of Taiwan’s first transnational university consortium under the Fo Guang Shan system together with the University of the West in the U.S.A, Nantien Institute in Australia and Fo Guang College in Philippines.     National Central University was originally founded in Nanjing, China in 1915. In 1962, the Graduate Institute of Geophysics was founded in Miaoli, Taiwan as the re-establishment of the university. The campus was relocated to Zhongli in 1968. As one of the leading university in Taiwan, NCU has eight colleges: Liberal Arts, Science, Engineering, Management, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Earth Sciences, Hakka Studies, and Health Science, and Technology, along with several research centers covering cutting-edge disciplines.
