7th aNNual cowboy classic aNgus bull sale.

We take pride in raising cattle that will do well on grass and will still work for our customer’s. We stress raising

cattle that are moderate in size but still raise a big calf and breed back on time. We also stress gentle cattle that are

easy to work with. We try to breed for a certain type of cow and try not to chase the fads. We think you will see this

in our bulls as they are all very similar. If you are looking for an angus bull with lots of natural muscle, volume and

length, not fed on fluff , then these are for you.

We developed our own bulls this year at home again. They are fed a

high roughage ration with no silage of any kind. The bulls have been

doing great on feed and we feel confident that they will go right on

and perform well. We feel we have a bull that will fit any ones needs.

greetiNgs aNd welcome to our bull saleWe bring to you a good offering of yearling bulls that are right for the times. Many are light to moderate birth weight with great

growth to weaning, as well as descending from a strong maternal line of fertile cows.

One highlight of our offering will be up to 6 full brothers from one of our favorite and most productive cows. This 14-year-old ma-tron has never missed for us, both as a continuing Pathfinder cow and a producer of high quality offspring. These SAV Pioneer 7301 x Double W Miss Powder River N301 yearling bulls offer a real opportunity to dig deeply into our herd and produce a set of calves from a bull battery of full brothers. Other good Pioneer sons are well represented in our offering as well.

Both Cedar Ridge and VDAR Really Windy 4097 are also well proven calving-ease sires who have tremendous growth from birth to weaning. If you want calving-ease with growth don’t overlook these sons as well as the SAV Plato 0310 and Soo line Motive 9016. The SD Powder Horn X803 and GMAR Industry A012 sired bulls should add extra pounds to your calves and leave you a great set of replace-ment heifers.

We have once again included a group of our later calving cows. We have traditionally cut off calving April 1 and sell any cows not yet calved. We will attempt to pick these later calving cows a little early to make our March 12 bull sale date. They will have been bred by our SD Powder Horn X803 bull or our GMAR Industry A012 sire. They will sell as commercials with papers available.

Bulls can be wintered free of charge until April 1.

All bulls will have been fertility tested satisfactory and BVD tested negative.

Thank you for your patronage and we hope you find the bull power you are looking for in this offering. Thanks to the Buffalo Livestock for the use of their fine facilities for this sale and a big round of thanks to the other astute Angus Breeders included in this sale. Everyone has made a great commitment to ensure that this sale is a success; and that you get the bulls that will help improve your herd. We are also thankful for all the moisture we have had this past year. We are most thankful to you, our customers.

It is still a wonderful time to be in the cattle business! Cow prices are have retreated from their record highs as the industry experiences the female expansion, the calf market appears to be holding steady for the foreseeable future. Now is a great time to trade up to the latest bull power available and purchase those genetics that will help provide for your future in the cattle business. As you look over our offering, remember that the information in this catalog can tell only part of the story. To fully test something you need to experience it yourself. So, if you want to look at our bulls in person, they can be seen at the Buffalo Livestock yards at least one day prior to our sale date. Please feel free to examine our product. Our bulls will give you top quality steers that demand premiums paid; and moderate sized replacement heifers that will excel in fleshing ability, udder and carcass quality, fertility, calving ease and explosive growth. All our bulls in this offering have been ultrasound for ribeye size and marbleing. Our philosophy is to raise bulls that are very functional. They must have great feet and are docile. Scrotal circumference is extremely important to early maturity and calving ease for heifers. We strive to raise bulls with large scrotals. Our cows calve outside in February and March. Our calves must have a lot of vigor to get up out of the snow and nurse.

Our entire herd has been tested and is BVD PI Free. Feed efficiency is becoming more important and feed costs are a major concern to most cattlemen. Finding ways to reduce those costs can be a challenge and our bulls convert feed in an efficient manner. We continue to support the agriculture community youth through the NILE Merit Heifer Program. We have been blessed by providing young energetic youth who are starting their foundation herds thru the use of Oedekoven Angus females. Last year’s recipient was Konnar Knotwell from Encampment, Wyoming. Konnar won the Showmanship Award and the Herdsman Award (the highest honor) this past October at the NILE. This year’s recipient is Raina Perli from Rapid City, South Dakota.

DONATED NILE HEIfER – WINNER Of SEVERAL CATEgORIES

Welcome to our 7th Annual Cowboy Classic Angus Bull Sale- what a blessing it has been! At this sale you will find an outstanding group of Angus Breeders. All with unique and distinguished programs, but all have the same common goal of producing only top of the line progeny to meet our customer’s goals.

Sarah and I would like to extend a heart felt thank you to all of our past buyers for your investments into our program. There is nothing more rewarding than to see you all come back year after year and listen to your great stories and seeing the smiles on customers faces.

This year’s offering is by far the most complete and balanced set of bulls we have ever raised. These bulls, out of our new herd sire, HILLTOP GRANITE 3302, are loaded with muscle, big topped, deep bodied, and have the feet and bone structure to breed and cover big country.

Again this year we develop bulls at home, by hand, which enables us to see the bull’s development daily, making sure they each receive the proper ration and have the contact with people on a daily basis. The whole family gets to be involved, which teaches our children the importance of hard work, responsibilities and reward for your hard work.

Granite calves come easy (avg. BW on all offspring was 78 lbs). They were by far the biggest calves at branding time and it showed at weaning, recording the heaviest weights consistently by a sire group. The heifer mates to the sale bulls also weighed in the heaviest sire group, and were purchased by our longtime buyer of Boettcher Brothers Farms, NE.

Their sire, HILLTOP GRANITE 3302, was personally selected at the Hilltop Angus Ranch production sale in April of 2014. He was the top bull on test for feed efficiency out of over 120 plus bulls and a 3 star rated calving ease with explosive growth in a moderate package. His dam had a nursing ratio of 5 NR 102. His granddam is a long-time donor at Hilltop and has a nursing ratio of 7@111NR. This bull has nothing but outstanding performance and longevity all over his pedigree. We were extremely impressed and hope you will be as well.

This year we switched to using the new Rangemate Grower/Developer pellet that is made for us and added a 1lb. liquid supplement into the diet along with our regular long stem grass hay. These bulls took off and haven’t looked back since. Its obvious the feed efficiency is passed down by their sire.

these 15 heifers are all home raised and one iron.they are out of Kretschman commercial cows and Kretschman angus bulls-Grandsons

a person wants them. these calves were born feb., march, april 2015.the steers from our commercial cows have averaged from 600 to 620

We have, for many years, sold our later-calving bred cows & heifers through the auction on the first sale date after March 31st. This year we will again attempt to guess and identify those animals 2 weeks early.

Because of market opportunities, we have also, again, de-cided to sell a still to be determined number of cow/ calf pairs. It is our intent to sell between 20-30 bred cows and pairs.

These cows & bred heifers will be from the heart of our herd (numbers to be determined several days, at most, before the sale). Cows and heifers will be pregnancy tested bred, and a guess will be made as to calving date.

All cattle will sell as commercials. Registration papers will be available for all cattle selling for $200 per head, in addition to auction price.

Bid accordingly.

A copy of pedigrees and registration certificates can be viewed at the sale or at the ranch

All adult cattle will be “one ironed”, home raised and can be viewed at the ranch any time before sale date.

A Full vaccination / herd health program has been in place.Care & transportation of all bred cows and cow/calf pairs will

become the responsibility of the purchaser when sold.
