Emergency flood repairs were underway along the North Douglas Creek at Flying W Ranch to stabilize the North Rockrimmon drainage channel after it experienced landslides due to unstable, oversaturated soils above. To accomplish this, the drainage channel would have a large pipe installed in the creek bed behind a nearby residential area. Given the recent flooding, they needed a pipe that would be able to handle high flow velocities through it without backing into the basin as was recently experienced. Ultimately, Contech’s DuroMaxx steel reinforced polyethylene (SRPE) pipe was selected for the installation given its hydraulic efficiencies and strength.

Norfolk Southern (NS) Railway operates an east /west line through suburban Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Bridge MV 25.13 is a seven-cell stone arch structure that has been in service for approximately 150 years and was in need of repair. Contech Engineered Solutions was approached by Jacobs Engineering due to the success Contech has had with similar relining applications. After evaluating the existing conditions, Contech recommended its BridgeCor® structural plate product for the reline of the existing culvert arches. BridgeCor is a deep corrugation (15” x 5 ½”) high performance product that was developed to meet the requirements of this large span / heavy loading application.

Situated along the Los Angeles River, the 24-acre site known as Parcel C at Taylor Yard was being transformed into a transit oriented mixed-use development. An UrbanGreen® Rainwater Harvesting system was installed consisting of two barrels, each made from 145’ long of 120” diameter DuroMaxx® Steel Reinforced Polyethylene (SRPE). DuroMaxx was chosen because of the ability to create a large diameter, economical, long lasting cistern with watertight joints. The cistern is designed to hold 164,960 gallons of harvested rainwater. Contech also provided the mechanical pumps and controls to deliver the captured water that will be used for drip irrigation.

Area flooding caused damage to Vigo County’s Fowler Park Pioneer Village consisting of 18 historical park structures, a log barn and a working gristmill and also weakened the overall integrity of the nearby earthen dam structure. The existing emergency spillway was deemed undersized and an additional primary spillway was constructed with ArmorFlex® Class 40T BAH to pass the overtopping design event defined by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Installing a green solution to continue the natural, historical setting was important to the owner, while also having the robust protection of articulated concrete block systems.

The City of Paducah, Kentucky was in need of a solution to decrease the overall project cost to keep them within budget for roadway improvements along Olivet Church Road. Working closely with Contech, the project contractor, Jim Smith Contracting, was able to find a solution utilizing Contech’s E’GRID® geogrid which helped to decrease the overall project cost and speed construction due to avoiding delays that may have been caused with lime stabilization. This particular project allowed for a direct substitution of E’GRID 3030 for the designed 8” of lime stabilization. The combination of time and money savings offered by the E’GRID solution was a victory for the contractor as well as the owner.

Henry County, Ohio needed a quick and efficient bridge to replace an aging, multi-span steel beam bridge structure that crossed the Miami & Erie Canal. A 57’ clear span precast CON/SPAN® O-Series® bridge was chosen by the Mannik Smith Group as the optimal solution because of its ability to provide a speedy, cost-effective solution for the fast-track project.
This O-Series® three-sided structure with detached headwalls and wingwalls, has an ashlar stone stained formliner finish that provides an attractive solution that blends well with its surroundings.

Contech provided a stormwater detention system to Liberty Park, an elevated park in the new World Trade Center in New York City. A detention system was needed to meet NYC Department of Environmental Protection stormwater regulations. Since the park sits on the roof of the Vehicular Security Center, it is imperative the detention system is watertight. Contech consulted with engineers at the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, who specified a detention system made from 197 LF of DuroMaxx® Steel Reinforced Polyethylene (SRPE) that will provide approximately 2,500 CF of stormwater storage.

Situated right in the heart of the Bakken oil boom in North Dakota, Watford City’s population 1,400 in 2006 has rapidly risen to nearly 3,000 according to the latest census. As part of this growth, the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) has gone to great lengths to accommodate the increase in traffic part of which was an extensive roadway improvement project along Highway 23 which included a new storm drain system.
The general contractor selected Contech Engineered Solution’s MOBILE PIPE® mill to manufacture a polymer-coated ULTRA FLO® storm drain system onsite, allowing for faster project turn around.

U.S. Bank Stadium is a fixed-roof stadium that is being constructed in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. The project is the new home of the Minnesota Vikings football team. The stadium is the anchor of substantial redevelopment in the City of Minneapolis. Since the stadium is being built downtown, there is limited footprint for a stormwater storage system. Engineers chose a large diameter CMP retention system that provided the required amount of storage in a limited and constrained footprint. DuroMaxx SRPE was also used for stormwater drainage.

Village Center Station is the first phase of a planned three phase Transit Oriented Development (TOD). Phase I features a six-level office tower over a three-level restaurant/retail “wrapper” structure. Also included is a seven-level parking structure which can accommodate 785 cars. Spectacular pedestrian plazas offer direct access to the Arapahoe Light Rail Station, as well as a gathering place for civic and cultural events.
A 10,000 SF Keystone Compac® wall, comprised of Victorian-Scored and Half-Victorian units, was integral to the development of the site; creating buildable space as well as visually enhancing the landscape.

The Kissimmee Trail Bridge spans the John Young Parkway and connects the Lake Tivoli bike path to the Kissimmee Trail Loop, giving pedestrians and cyclists a safer way to cross one of the city’s busiest traffic corridors.
Referred to as “the crown jewel of the trail system”, it serves as the cornerstone of the whole pedestrian bike system, as well as provides a visual gateway into the city of Kissimmee. Four 40-foot towers and signage welcome drivers below to the city. On either side of the bridge are spiral ramps, giving cyclists a wider and more convenient way to enter and exit the Kissimmee Trail Bridge.

The city of Sheridan, Wyoming’s maintenance department was having problems maintaining their existing stormwater infrastructure. Components of the existing system where clogging, resulting in frequent maintenance events and stormwater backups. Contech partnered with the city to install a CDS hydrodynamic separator to test the system’s ability to screen, separate and trap trash, debris, sediment, and hydrocarbons from stormwater runoff. The trial was a success, and the city is in the process of installing more CDS units to reduce the number of maintenance events and improve the performance of its stormwater system.
