2016 cae program accomplishments -...
TRANSCRIPT
Now that we have made it official, we want the world to know that we will be cutting the ribbon and officially opening the new Center for the Arts Evergreen on Saturday, September 16, 2017. Mark your calendars. This will also be the opening weekend of the 44th Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Show and Evergreen’s Open Door Studio. This will be “Evergreen’s Art Lovers Weekend”.
With your participation, our art and cultural programs are thriving. And thanks to your generous patronage, we were able to complete the purchase of the former Bergen Park Church as our new home. We received Jefferson County Historical Designation for the building based on a portion that was once the old Soda Creek School House dating back to the 1890’s; this designation has opened us up to more funding possibilities. Renovation is currently underway, and you can track construction progress at www.buildourvision.org. With your support, we’ve reached 82 % of our project goal.
On the program side, there’s something for everyone at CAE. Exhibitions, classes, lectures, workshops, concerts, summer camps for kids, and Evergreen’s family friendly-festival, Summerfest, are ongoing activities. What an exciting time ahead for CAE! Following are two documents which we are happy to share with you; they are a list of astonishing CAE and Capital Campaign accomplishments for the prior year. Thanks to you, this year will mark our capacity to bring the arts and the community together on a whole new level.
Hoping you will join us as often as you can,
Steve Sumner, Executive Director

CAE’s Participation in State-Wide Events
On behalf of our Executive Director, Steve Sumner, the staff, committee, and the board of directors, I would like to thank our donors for the support, generosity, and belief in our mission. Many of our supporters are unaware that because Evergreen is unincorporated, CAE receives no municipal funding (SCFD grants are provided for operations). At the end of 2016, this grass‐roots effort has brought in 82% of our $1.5 million project goal. Between 2014 and 2016, our volunteers have put in an incredible 7,000 combined hours. The campaign has received major funding from the Anschutz Foundation, The Gates Family Foundation, and numerous other significant donors. And in no small measure, the project has benefited from over $150,000 of in‐kind contributions.
In 2015 the purchase of the old Bergen Park Church was facilitated by Bergen Park Development LLC and through their generosity CAE was able to retire the debt obligation in 2016. Declared a Historic Landmark by Jefferson County in 2016, the site qualifies for financial assistance from Colorado’s Office of Economic Development and Trade. We are pleased to have a part in preserving this piece of Evergreen’s history. Construction progress continues with completion anticipated mid‐2017. Thank you to the community and everyone who has participated in this project. Rome Chelsi, Chairman Capital Campaign
