ABOUT MUSIC EXPLORATIONS The Conservatory’s Music Explorations curriculum was developed by our team of early childhood specialists to address the specific needs at each stage of development. Our program develops fine and gross motor, social, listening and sequencing skills all while giving kids a solid foundation for a lifetime of music making. Students explore singing, playing rhythm instruments and moving to the music.
MUSIC EXPLORATIONS CLASSESFor 12 weeks children will explore instruments and singing with their peers and families while:
• Learning basic musical concepts• Singing fun and age-appropriate songs• Developing listening skills• Experiencing instruments hands-on• Combining movement and dance with music
FOR CHILDREN & PARENTSEach age appropriate, sequential class introduces and reinforces musical skills and concepts like high/low, soft/loud, keeping a steady beat, and singing on pitch. A parent or caregiver participates with their child in class.
Babies (4-11 months & caregiver)* - You & your baby will have a unique musical experience as you learn songs, rhymes, finger plays, bounces, wiggles and lullabies that you can recreate at home. 12 weeks | Faculty | 35 minutes | $139

Ensemble Discoveries (grades 1-3)+ - Introduce your child to the joy of making music with others. This class emphasizes the ensemble aspects of music through playing wooden mallet instruments, song, expressive movement, improvisation, and storytelling. SUZUKI CLASSES & LESSONSThe Suzuki philosophy teaches that students are most successful when learning incorporates both group classes and private lessons. This philosophy guides the Suzuki Program at the Conservatory giving your child the finest music education.
Suzuki students receive a discount when signing up for a semester package of classes and lessons. Each package includes 12 group classes and 15 private lessons which may be 30-, 45- or 60-minutes in length.

ABOUT STRINGSString instruments are said to most closely resemble the human voice, a natural musical instrument. Whether your preference lies with four strings or 47, our highly-qualified teaching artists can help you find your voice at the Conservatory. The String Department offers individual and group instruction for players of all ages and abilities.
STRING ENSEMBLES FOR ADULTSWCM Community String Orchestra - If you played the violin, viola, cello or bass as a child and would like to come back to the instrument, or if you are currently studying and would like to have the experience of playing in a group, this is the ensemble for you! The Conservatory is offering a community string orchestra for adults in a friendly and supportive setting, culminating in a final performance at the end of the semester. All ages, levels and experience are welcome – the only prerequisite is having your own instrument. Some music literacy is preferred. CHAMBER MUSICWhat is Chamber Music? It is music played in a small group, one person on a part, in trios, quartets, quintets and more. Chamber Music is a great way to explore music with others and make new friends! Students will have the opportunity to play with an ensemble and be coached by one of our fabulous faculty. Students need to have three or more years on an instrument and have good note reading skills.

JUMPSTART TO VIOLIN & CELLOYou and your child will be introduced to the wonderful world of music-making on the violin and cello! January 28, 2017The fourth annual Piano Sonata Festival, presented by the Piano Department at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, is a showcase for the largest and most prestigious preparatory program in the region. Dozens of students from across the Midwest, aged 8 through 18, present sonatas and sonatinas in a unique, adjudicated recital setting.
Non-Competitive & Competitive Divisions• Elementary (ages 8-11) • Junior (ages 12-14) • Senior (ages 15-18)
All students will perform two pieces: a Sonata or Sonatina movement AND a contrasting piece. Memorization is required.

ABOUT THE JAZZ INSTITUTEThe Wisconsin Conservatory of Music Jazz Institute is one of the oldest and most successful jazz programs in the country. Beginners, advanced players and hobbyists alike sound like professionals under the expert mentoring of our world-class teaching artists. Students will study jazz improvisation and theory, play with combos and big bands, and get individualized attention as they play the music of the jazz greats. Renowned jazz alumni of the Conservatory include: Lynne Arriale, Gerald Cannon, Rick Germanson, David Hazeltine, Brian Lynch and Dan Nimmer.
JAZZ CLASSES & ENSEMBLES The Jazz Institute offers jazz combos at all experience levels for middle school, high school and adult musicians. Placement interviews ensure that ensembles consist of players with similar abilities.
JAZZ HONORS AND MERIT ENSEMBLESThe Conservatory offers comprehensive, year-round jazz programs for high school students with ensembles that have received numerous national awards. Classes and ensembles meet on Wednesday evenings. Admittance into the program is based on an audition. Please contact Student Services for more information.

CHAMBER MUSICWhat is Chamber Music? It is music played in a small group, one person on a part, in trios, quartets, quintets and more. Chamber Music is a great way to explore music with others and make new friends! Students will have the opportunity to play with an ensemble and be coached by one of our fabulous faculty.
