In this season of gratitude, let me begin by saying thank you for all you have done.

It is not possible these days for a private University to excel without the generous support of its alumni, parents, and friends. Your gifts are partly the reason why Alderson Broaddus University has been named a � rst-tier South Regional College, ranking 26th overall, in the 2018 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges Guide. � is same guide also ranked ABU fourth in the Best Value School category among the same South Regional College group, which places us an impressive eleven spots higher in their overall ranking from a year ago.

Your gifts serve many important purposes, starting with scholarship opportunities that make a high quality, Liberal Arts education at Alderson Broaddus University accessible to promising students who otherwise could not a� ord to attend a private faith-based institution. � is, along with the collective e� orts of administration, faculty, and sta� , and a strong Board of Trustees have made these opportunities and accomplishments possible.

Commemorating the year in which Alderson Broaddus University was founded, the purpose of the 1871 Society is to recognize our most generous Annual Fund donors who support our mission and become partners in a shared vision for Alderson Broaddus University.

The Elkanah Hulley SocietyDonors who make charitable planned gifts to Alderson Broaddus University may enroll as members of � e Hulley Society, created by the Board of Trustees in 1994 in memory of an early Alderson Broaddus President, Dr. Elkanah Hulley.

Membership is bestowed upon donors who have remembered Alderson Broaddus University in their wills, who have designated the University as the bene� ciary of life insurance policies, who have made gifts of real estate with retained life interest, or who have established life income plans such as charitable gift annuities or charitable remainder trusts.

Planned gifts often provide opportunities for individuals to make larger gifts during their lifetimes than they ever thought possible.
