TEAM NOTES• In the last three games, opponents have only scored four points on the fastbreak• The Cavaliers have had both a balanced offensive and defensive at-tack this season. Against Pitt, eight different players had at least two rebounds and nine had at least one board. All nine players who appeared in the game scored against the Panthers• Virginia has five players averaging more than nine points per game and eight players averaging 3.0 or more rebounds per game• The Cavaliers have held their opponents to less than 60 points in all 13 victories this season• The Cavaliers come into the week ranked seventh in the nation in scoring defense, holding opponents to 53.3 points per game. The UVA men’s team came into the week ranked first nationally in scoring defense at 53.2 ppg• The Cavaliers have led at the half in every game this season except at UNC and Pitt and have led by at least 10 points in all but three games (St. John’s, North Carolina, Pitt)• The 37 points scored by Clemson were the fewest by a Cavalier op-ponent since UVA held Clemson to 36 points in a game on February 6, 2012. It was the second time this season UVA held an opponent to under 40 points, after limiting UIC to 39 on Dec. 16. • Virginia’s holding Clemson to scoring 37 points was deemed last week’s defensive performance of the week by the Hero College Sports News (herosports.com)• Virginia is No. 85 in the latest RPI rankings

VIRGINIA TECH HOKIES• Virginia leads the all-time series 45-12 and is 20-4 in ACC contests• The Cavaliers had won 18-straight match-ups in the series prior to be-ing swept by the Hokies last season, falling 66-46 in Charlottesville and 60-55 in Blacksburg• The Hokies lead the ACC in turnovers per game, averaging just 13.1 per game. They also average the fewest fouls at 15.7 per game• After starting the season 15-0, including a 13-0 record in non-confer-ence games, Virginia Tech has lost three of its last four games with the lone win in that span a 72-70 victory over Wake Forest• VT has four players averaging double figures with Chanette Hicks leading the team at 16.5 points per game. Hicks leads the ACC in steals, averaging 3.9 per game• Regan Magarity is averaging a double-double with 13.5 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. She also has blocked 29 shots this season

COMMONWEALTH CLASH• The Commonwealth Clash presented by Virginia529 is a head-to-head, points-based competition between the athletic teams at University of Virginia and Virginia Tech. The Commonwealth Clash encourages a friendly, statewide rivalry between the two schools across all school-sponsored sports with 22 individual event points on the line. The school that accumulates 11.5 points or more will be crowned the winner and take home the Virginia529 Commonwealth Clash trophy. Visit TheCommon-wealthClash.com for more information and updated standings.• There is a half of a point on the line in this game with the score cur-rently tied at 4.5 apiece • In its inaugural year (2014-15), the Commonwealth Clash came to a close with Virginia winning 15 to 7. The Cavaliers won last year (2015-16) 14 to 7.
