Dear Parents, The new academic session 2016-17 began with great enthusiasm and excitement. The months from April to July were filled with fun activities like splash, water play, out and about ,“ A week full of days”, Green is in and Speak up kids. These days were informative which allowed the children to ex-plore and discover and brought in a lot of excitement. Child-hood is the time to instill life long eating and exercise habits that contribute to good health. Nutrition affects children’s abil-ity to learn, develop and stay healthy throughout life.
FEW TIPS FOR BASIC MEAL PLANNING
Be a good role model. It is important to try new foods and new ways of preparing them.
Buy a variety of healthy foods, including fruits, vegetables and whole grain breads and cereals.
Set specific times for meals and snacks.
Limit sugary-high fat snacks.
Encourage children to drink plenty of water or milk, not empty-calorie fruit drinks.
Avoid adding excessive salt to foods.
Be adventurous. Have a “New Food Night” each week.
Avoid junk food.
Be creative: use texture, size, colour and variety when think-ing up new food ideas.
Help your children to understand why some foods are better than others.
Enjoy happy meal times with your children.

Elves:- Taking a step higher after successfully completing Foundation, children had the mixed feelings of excitement and anxiousness to be a part of Elves. The amazing Lab sys-tem was an initial challenge, but the children are well settled now.
Brownies:- With the proud feeling of being the senior most class of Cheviot Kids, children entered the doors of Brownies.
Foundation:- Innocent teary eyes looking for known faces and parents being nostalgic to send their loved ones to a new environment, was the scenario of the first day at school for Foundation. The highlight of the week was the musical story dramatization created and pre-sented by the Foundation teachers. It really brought a smile on the children’s faces.

Energy, enthusiasm, excitement would be the three
perfect words to describe the feelings of children
on their first Out and About trip of the year.
Cheviot Kids is a Green School . To celebrate Earth Day we distributed our own jute bags
to encourage children’s parents and teachers to use these bags and say no to plastic.
Insight into the Curriculum for the Elves and the Brownies was a
hit with the parents as it gave them a clear understanding of the entire years’ sylla-
bus and how this course is delivered for effective learning . They were shown the
teaching aids used in the classrooms to introduce ,explain, explore or learn various
given topics across all the core areas of learning. Parents went back with lots of
information and confidence to walk hand in hand with the school for the 360 de-
gree learning of the Children.

“SPLASH” Water play
Splish ! Splash ! we all went jumping into the cool pool
of water on this SPLASH. Water play has always been
an attraction for young children and Cheviot is no ex-
ception in that. But we definitely stand out in the way
we plan and execute our events. Children and teachers
drenched from head to toe in water couldn’t stop smil-
ing and giggling during the water play. Apart from be-
ing a fun activity it also provides a huge exploring and
experimenting ground for our young kids. Hence we
commence our first event on a very happy note and
eagerly wait for the others to come.

Green Is in…..
Green is the colour of prosperity and happiness.
So how could Cheviot Kids remain untouched by
the same. The day was planned meticulously to
provide experience that we hope will last a life
time. A wonderful skit on “My Future Plight” was
put up by the teachers to help the children un-
derstand the importance of wise and better use of
our natural resources. Every event becomes a
grand success because of our parents involve-
ment and enthusiasm. TOGETHER WE CAN AND
WE SHAL BUILD A BETTER TOMORROW FOR
OUR NEXT GENERATION. We should always re-
member that we do not handover our Earth to our
children, but we borrow it from them.

Academics
All the activities conducted were based on Teach-Learn-Engage Principle. With the rain setting in and the trees taking the various
hues of green the Brownies started the project on trees.
The children were taught the various parts of the tree,
making them aware that each part is important. The
children moved on to creating a tree of their own, by
doing various activities… Thus the children were
taught; they learnt and engaged themselves into a fun
activity to make the concept stronger.
Brownies
The tiny buds of Elves that are slowly
blooming worked on the project of Plants. In
the various sessions the children differenti-ated between plants and animals and were
able to tell why a plant is different from an
animal.
The young learners of Elves are gradually moving ahead. They simply love playing the
“matching letter” games in the English lab
with various teaching aids. They are able to
match the capital and small letters using spoons and cards. Thus setting the stage for
higher learning.

fearless painters like Michelangelo
