“FOR THE RESIDENTS, BY THE RESIDENTS”
Happy New Year January 2016
Fulfillment in the New Year
Here’s to the outgoing year, 2015. May the good times live on
in our memories, and may we learn lessons from the troubling
times that will make us stronger and better then ever.
Here’s to 2016 for each and every one of you, may it be
filled with significant steps toward the fulfillment of your
fondest wishes.
In this coming new year, let us focus on our goals and work
toward our dreams, and yet (smile) let’s all try to go with the
flow a little more and stress a little less.
And most important, (raise your glass), here’s to all of you.
Appreciate yourselves and each other in the New Year as I
appreciate all of you now. Let’s focus on each other’s good
points and choose to overlook minor annoyances, to create
mutual happiness and contentment in 2016.
Here’s to 2016 (raise glass). Enjoy the journey!!!!
Happy New year from your editor, Phyllis Grossi
Annual Membership meeting
(We need you)
Since January, 2015, your board has worked diligently
and was available to work with all the residents to help
in adding many more activities. We need your input
on what you would like and open to new ideas.
Do you have a plan to make Southfork a better place to
socialize in? Do you want “change?” Do you have any
ideas you’d like to see implemented? Here’s an
opportunity to become more active in our community.
So, don’t sit back, come and join the forces!!!!
As a board member, your voice will be heard and
counted on for important issues and also being on a
committee will help anything that affects our
community.
Please come forward as a member before the January
25th annual membership meeting, because your votes
count. Please help to make this a better community.
Let your voice be heard. Use your expertise and talents
to help our community. Volunteer for a committee today

I am looking for wedding anniversaries celebrated for each month of the year. We
have so many in this community who have shown wedded bliss for so many years and we
would like to acknowledge all.
Please submit to me (Phyllis) by the 15th of each month so it can be shared by all.
from Tom’s desk.
Hello Southfork,
Wow!!!! Christmas season was here and gone already….where does the time go?
Judy and I are back and we want to thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes. Judy was
really sick with a foot infection but she is doing very well now. So glad to be back home.
In the past month our activity elves have been very busy with the decorating of the hall and
what a fantastic job was done. December was another busy and fun filled month with the
cookie swap, golf cart parade, Timpanelli entertainer, Christmas pot luck and more that I know I
have forgotten, but again thanks to all the hard work to keep the community going.
A great entertainer will be here on the 19th and Rich Wilson is his name. I have personally seen
him on stage and you will enjoy this show. Let’s fill he hall!
Since Christmas will be just a memory when you read this I hope everyone is ready for a healthy
and fun filled new year. This is another busy month coming up and I would like to invite all the
new residents to join our association. Come and see what we are all about on the 25th . You will
find we have a lot of fun and we have a lot of different activities and entertainment. We want
a good and active community. Please join us and welcome aboard to a new year.

Southfork Annual Association Meeting
What: Our annual homeowner’s meeting is a chance to meet new neighbors, catch up with old
friends and discuss local issues. This January meeting has been designated by our by-laws to be
the first meeting of the fiscal year with the election of new officer’s and directors. Please plan
to attend and learn what’s happening in Southfork!
Where: Southfork Clubhouse, January 25th, 2016 at 9A.M. sharp!
Why: It’s your neighborhood, too! With our combined efforts, we can continue to make our
community a better social environment with better communication to everyone. We need
everyone’s support to help and vote on issues that everyone is happy with! It is next to
impossible to please everyone but there are ways to try and appease most of the people. If there
is anyone who is interested in being an officer or run as a director your name must be
handwritten in on the already printed ballot because nominations were closed at the November
membership meeting!
Who: You, the homeowners, must have your yearly dues paid by January 10th
in order to vote
for any new officer/director’s. The annual yearly dues is $20.00 per household and only one (1)
member of each household is eligible to vote. Submit payment to Secretary (Peggy Elkins)
11044 Ewing Dr or place in the suggestion box in the lobby of the clubhouse.
How: No need to RSVP, just show up!
Reason: We need more than one candidate for each office to run. If there is only 1 person for
each office with no competition, elections will be held and the slate is automatically given to the
only ones listed for each office. So, if you want “change” this is the time to do it!!! Please,
come and submit your name or your ideas.
Women’s Club
On Nov. 14 we had our annual bazaar. It was a success. We
opened the doors at 8:00 am and we had a constant flow of
people. I want to thank everyone who helped us in this venture.
There were so many helpers like the people who baked for us, people
who made the sloppy Joes - people who bought the supplies( ice ,
drinks etc.)
By the way a couple came from Zephyrhills to have Sloppy Joes they
said that it was a very good idea to offer a meal at the Bazaar and we
were the only Bazaar to do so.
Thanks to all the ladies who made baskets and to the ladies who sold
tickets. Thanks to the quilters and to the ladies who worked on the
Bake Sale and the Coffee table. It was quite a production and we had
tables rented to outsiders. The atmosphere was so great that they
asked for an "encore"
Thanks again everyone for that big success and we could not have done
it without you. Thanks again for supporting the Women's club. P.S. A
special thanks to Craig Whitbeck who worked behind the scene. Thanks
also to the Manager who has set up all the tables. Thanks also to
Bill Laforest and Maggie who let us borrow a table.
On December 2nd we had our annual Christmas meeting with 48 ladies.
All the reports were read and approved. A list was circulated to get
hostesses For each month and now we have a full slate. The hall was
decorated beautifully and it felt like Christmas and the food was so
good and don’t have enough room to tell all that we had to eat and we
have to thank Carol Albers and Katie Bellnier for a great job.
We raffled 4 gifts given by Tanya Hahn - Thank you Tanya for your
generosity.
January is election month. Please think about which position you would
like to participate in and we need you. The meeting was closed and
It was time for our Christmas Party we had two tables full of finger
food, punch and dessert. Then we had our Chinese Auction everyone
who brought a gift went home with a gift. All the gifts were
beautiful they were all different not two alike and We had a lot of
fun.
Next meeting on January 6 we will have a speaker Isabelle Wirth from
Daystar. She is very interesting and will explain to us here all our
cans of food are distributed. Please be there.
Marielle.
What a wonderful morning was enjoyed by The Southfork Women's
Club for their annual Christmas party. Socializing with
neighbors and friends, doesn't get much better than that. A
wonderful job by officers and hostesses. Many thanks for an
enjoyable gathering. As you can see, many enjoyed good food,
dessert and a really fun gift exchange.
Unfortunately we learned that Judy Geyer had become ill on her
return to Southfork after visiting Tom's mom who celebrated her
100 birthday. A silent prayer was offered by all in attendance.
Tom and Judy, please know you are in our thoughts and daily
prayers.

Janet and Joe Lehman live at 11104 Mesquite Drive, Dade City. They are from
Miller City, Ohio and Angola Indiana. They have 3 children and 4
grandchildren. They became familiar with Southfork, visiting Janet's sister
and brother-in-law and immediately liked our community. When Janet's second
sister purchased a home here, they decided it must be a good place to live
and purchased their home in January, 2011. They are now permanent residents.
Janet and Joe have been married for 51 years. Joe is retired from Ennis,
Inc. after 53 years. Ennis is a business factory for printing forms. Janet
retired in 2006 from cafeteria work, where she cooked for all school levels.
Joe served 4 years with Ohio National Guard and 2 years with Army Reserve.
Was a 4H advisor and served on local school board for 12 years.
If you don't know Joe and Janet, Joe might ask you medium or well done. Joe
is our chef each Wednesday at Hamburgs and Hot Dogs. Janet might ask you for
$3.00 as she is our cashier at H@H along with shopping for goods, chopping
and preparing all condiments that go along with the meal. And they do it so
pleasantly! You will see Joe flipping pancakes at our monthly breakfasts and
again, Janet collecting cash or serving beverages.
Joe is a worker, living right across from them, uuhhmmm, Sometime I feel
like a slacker, so out comes the rake! As you might have noticed, their home
is beautifully decorated for the holiday, so I just put a "DITTO" sign in my
front yard. Teehee!
Thank you, Tom, Judy, Mary and Jim for being a part of Their decision to
reside here. Thanks Janet and Joe for all your hard work making Southfork
the wonderful community we all enjoy.
This reporter wishes a Merry Christmas and Happy New Years to all Southfork
residents. Submitted by Kathy Gallick, Life is wonderful.
JANUARY 2016 IN SOUTHFORK
HAPPY, HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL - A PROSPEROUS, SAFE, AND HEALTHY 2016
1/1/16 – New Years’ Day – everyone celebrates their own traditional style on New Years’
day! Don’t forget about the New Year’s Eve Party at the Club on the December 31st.
There will be great entertainment, friends, and foods that will explain why one should or
should not eat.. This will be so much fun and starts at 8:00 PM. Happy Birthday to all
the January folks!
IT’S TIME TO REVEAL OUR DECEMBER “Babes”
#1 – JOHN QUAIN – born August 27th in Saranac, New York and moved to Southfork in 1995!
John has four children and several grandchildren. He was a teacher for 17 years and owned his
own business and worked 50 years as a heavy equipment operator between teaching. He married
Mariella in 1994 and they traveled the US in a fifth-wheeler for one year during 1994 to find where
they wanted to settle and it was Southfork! Wonderful!
#3 – MARIELLA QUAIN – born as Mariella Proulx November 20th in Montreal, Canada! She has
two boys – one in Ohio and two in Montreal, and three grandchildren. Mariella actually consulted
a card (tarot) reader years before 1994 and she was told all the events/changes that would
happen in her life and so far, they have all been correct – starting in 1994 when she married John.
She worked as a Purchasing Agent for Novartis Pharmaceutical Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1994.
She and John enjoy life here but hate losing so many folks over the years! What an asset they are
to our community!
#2 – LONNIE LAYNE – born as Lonnie Crandell on August 8th in Flint, Michigan. She and hubby,
Roger, moved to Southfork in April 2011, after paying a visit to Max and Peggy Elkins. She and
Roger wanted to take home a Florida souvenir, but after visiting here, they bought a home. They
decided that they couldn’t take that “souvenir” back to Michigan! Lonnie retired as office
manager from William Floyd Heating and Air Conditioning in Flint, MI. You’ll see a lot of Lonnie
leading the Activities Committee here and she’s been a great organizer to make sure all our
residents have great times! A lot more fun to come and we thank Lonnie for her leadership and all
she does!
#4 – ROGER LAYNE – born on November 9th in Detroit, Michigan. He retired as Contract
Manager of Genessee County Community Mental Health Hospital prior to moving to Southfork with
Lonnie. Between Roger and Lonnie, they have five children and 12 grandchildren. You know
Roger as one of the Southfork directors and you can see him several times a day walking their
beautiful dog, Darby, to the doggie park!
#5 – NANCY JONES – born Nancy Sjostrand (which is Swedish), on October 21st in Aurora,
Illinois. She was also raised there and is so proud that her grandfather actually landed in Ellis
Island, NY, in 1904. Nancy had a 20-year career as an elementary teacher and also taught
computer sciences at another facility. She and husband, Bob, purchased their home in Southfork
in 2002 and when Nancy retired they came back here spend to their first winter in 2006. She and
Bob have three children and five grandchildren. You’ll see Nancy around the park in lots of
activities! She’s been our shuffleboard champ also! Way to go, Girl! Happy Bob got you your
“trophy” too!
“SOUTHFORK”
#1- My, what a pretty one
– then and now! And with
brand new teeth! She was
born and raised in the
Northeast & has made her
home here for less than 15
years. You know her!
#2 – Another “looker” in our
park. This handsome guy has
lived in Southfork 10 years.
He’s from the great Midwest.
You’ve seen him driving
around and you’ll know him
for sure!
#3 – You’ll never guess this
adorable baby! Born in the
Midwest, this person has lived
here for 10 years! What a story
to read about this baby in the
next issue! Good luck with this
one!
#4-“It’s my party – I’ll cry if I
want to!!!!” This gal is so cute!
(The hubby may be in the dog
house after sharing this pic!)
Born in the Northeast (maybe
she’s cold) and been here for
less than five years. You gotta
know this special lady!
#5 – Now talk about a real cutie
pie-WOW. Look at those dreamy
eyes! This prizewinner was born
and raised in the Northeast, US,
and he and the lovely lady have
been in Southfork for over 10
years!
Okay, you all…keep bringing the pics. Lots of folks are enjoying this feature so why not share yours too! So cute!
Thanks to those who have shared! Until next issue….

FYI. Technically challenged people as am I,
things I have learned!
Never leave you "Chipped Ignition Key" in ignition
when car is not running for any length of time, it
draws on battery, thus dead battery, been there,
done that. If that persistent red light on your
dash goes on, indicating low tire pressure and you
have just purchased 4 new tires and ALL the
pressure in the tires is perfect, check that spare
in the trunk, if it has a sensor, put a few lbs. of
air in that baby, problem solved, been there, done that. Most 2016
automobiles do not come with a spare. May be optional. Make certain to
check on that!
If you are in trouble on the highway and you call 911 and you did not
notice that last "mile marker" sign, not to worry, big brother knows
exactly where you are, within feet. Been there, done that.
Just for your information!
A note from Kathy Gallick, Life is wonderful.
