Corporate Transportation Systems - project manager Recruited, mentored, and managed a diverse and talented staff of 35 BAs, Architects, Managers

and Developers. Lifecycle responsibility for applications used to plan, schedule, and track ground and air

movements, and collect timecard data for feeder drivers. Conceived and initiated a project to convert FS (Feeder (semi-truck) Scheduling application) from

1.5 million lines of C with (OS/2 APIs) and mainframe CICS to a thin client on VB/NT using stored procedures against MVS/DB2.

First adoption DB2 stored procedures at UPS. Charter member of SEPG. Led portfolio in attainment of CMM Level III processes. Moved FS application from NJ-based team to Louisville.

UPS Airline - Lead Developer and Project Leader Developed a link with Canadian Customs to transmit and release shipments via EDI. Technical lead for transition of ISPS-Brokerage from NJ to KY. Three-month special assignment in Danbury R&D to develop hardware for package scanning. Led team that developed overhead-scanning prototype in the Louisville Air Hub. Transitioned Crew Scheduling (CMS) application from CMSystems to UPS. Initiated and led

project to convert ½ million lines of Quicksilver (dBase-III) code and mainframe interfaces to

Clipper. Project was completed 3 months ahead of schedule. Technical lead and designer of a crash project to develop a crew payroll application (CPR), to

support the 1992 UPS/IPA contract. Project was completed on time, four months after initiation. First payroll from new application was most accurate crew payroll to date at UPS.

Worked with Rolls Royce and UPS Power-Plant Engineering to acquire and implement Rolls Royce-COMPASS to support the 727-QF, TAY-451 engine maintenance program.

Implemented PC-based ECM package. Demonstrated it to CIO and UPS board of directors. Studied power plant engineering at Pratt & Whitney. Consulted with them and GE-Struthers and

implemented subroutines (scientific FORTRAN programming) to provide engine performance monitoring for the GE CFM-56 (DC8) using Pratt & Whitney’s ECM.

Initiated and implemented acquisition of MSS from Air Canada. MSS connects UPS to ARINC and SITA. Learned VTAM application programming to support this effort.

Designed and built the ground software for the ACARS application. Collaborated with IE, AC Engineering, pilots, avionics vendors, and the FAA, to design and implement UPS Version-3 ACARS airborne application. Served as a member of the ARINC Data link Users Forum to improve support and draft standards for the ACARS (Data link) system. Advocated new technology at UPS such as differential-corrected GPS navigation, carrier-programmable avionics, and real-time engine performance alert messages (all of which have since been adopted).
