Apply for financial aidComplete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.gov by the priority date of March 1.Wichita State University’s school code is 001950.

4 Submit your housing contract and prepaymentOnce admitted, you must have an approved housing contract OR exemption form on file to schedule your orientation. See wichita.edu/housing for details.

5 Register for orientation All new, degree-bound freshmen attend a two-day orientation where they meet peers, explore campus and learn all there is to know about being a Shocker. Sign up using your myWSU ID at wichita.edu/orientation.

Prospective freshmen graduating from non-accredited high schools and homeschools should visit wichita.edu/getadmitted for requirements.

Freshman Admission Requirements

Complete the pre-college curriculum with at least a 2.00 GPA on a 4.00 scale (2.50 for non-residents); AND

Take the ACT/SAT Aim for a test date during your junior year. Wichita State’s ACT code is 1472, and our SAT code is 6884.

Apply for admissionSubmit your application and $30 non-refundable application fee at wichita.edu/apply. You will need a copy of your high school transcript to enter grades and test scores into the admissions application.

Schedule an advising appointment To enroll in classes, contact your department's academic advising office.

Rank in the top one-third of your high school’s graduating class; AND

Achieve a minimum ACT composite score of 21 or a minimum combined (critical reading and math) SAT-I of 980, OR

Achieve a 2.0 GPA or higher on any college credit taken in high school

Scholarship Awards

wichita.edu/scholarships (316) 978-3430 Fully admitted students are automatically considered for four-year, renewable scholarship awards ranging from $8,000 to $16,000 for Kansas residents and $8,000 to $24,000 for non-residents.

Students are evaluated based on three criteria• Unweighted GPA looks at individual academic performance• Class rank looks at how students perform at their school• ACT/SAT looks at how students perform on a national level

What if my grades and/or test scores improve?Students who have GPA or ACT improvements after the initial award will be reconsidered in December and February.

Competitive Scholarships

Freshmen Merit Scholarship Program

Kansas residents and non-residents named a National Merit, National Achievement or a National Hispanic Recognition finalist receive a scholarship of $80,000 (residents) or $112,000 (non-residents) to WSU. Students must notify WSU by May 1 they will be attending in order to receive this scholarship.
