Small ways you can make a BIG impact in the lives of local children this holiday season

Eastside Baby Corner makes a positive difference in the lives of children and families in need. We do this by collecting and purchasing children’s items and distributing them, free of charge, through local social service agencies. We give families help and hope.

About UsEastside Baby Corner (EBC) was founded in 1990 by Karen Ridlon, a local pediatric nurse practitioner who was concerned with the large numbers of babies in her practice that began life without adequate food, clothing, beds or safety equipment.

Her commitment to giving these children a stronger start grew from an idea into an agency that annually distributes almost 60,000 new or gently-used items.

EBC serves a broad area in greater east King County. It is the only agency that provides these unique services in this region.

EBC receives financial support from many of the cities it serves, as well as from private foundations, individuals, businesses, faith-based organizations and civic groups.

How to be a EBC Holiday Helper

At EBC, the holiday season is a time for both celebration and deep reflection. We celebrate you, our amazing donors who gather holiday items so children can have not only the wintertime necessities such as warm coats and blankets, but also those extra special items that make the holidays extraordinary - like a new toy or a fancy dress. We reflect because the holidays are a time when we see requests for our services rise. During these

cold winter months, the true magnitude of those in need in our local community becomes more evident. In light of that, the message we hope to share with you this holiday season isyour donations truly matter! Here are a few ways how you can help this Holiday Season:Host a Holiday Drive Items collected for EBC will be given directly, and immediately, to children who need them this winter. Fun Ideas for A Holiday Drive:Host a collection bin at your organization to collect high-needs items such as diapers to keep newborn babies dry, or coats and long pants to keep kids warm during the chilly season.

Create a fun and friendly competition to see who can collect the most items. Host a Holiday Giving Tree where staff, members, customers, etc. can choose a high-needs item or a special holiday item to donate to local children.Request donations in lieu of traditional holiday gifts at this year’s holiday event. Contact Cori at [email protected] to plan your drive.

Volunteer your time (as a group or individual) The time you spend volunteering at the EBC Hub this holiday season will have a real impact on the children in our community. Come together as an organization this holiday season by volunteering as a group. Gather your employees, members, clients

and friends and help EBC fill some of the 1,000+ orders we receive each week. To volunteer, please visit www.babycorner.org. For groups of four or more, email [email protected].

Give an end-of-year giftThe money you give provides the absolute essentials (such as food, formula, diapers, car seats, and portacribs) that we know children need, but community donations cannot cover. No matter how large or small, your donations will help kids thrive. Donate at www.babycorner.org or call Helen Banks Routon at 425-372-7525.
