The renovation and extension to an old winery into a new entertainment and dining venue was a real challenge, dealing with old services and blending old with new and making the fi nal product look like it was one wholly planned and built venue.We have achieved this by using panels of weather tex and open light colours, structural elements, clad in quality materials and open plan building, the latest in technology for the kitchen and front of house dining and function areas. The kitchen was gutted and doubled in size, the shed at the back of the building was converted into a car gallery and a new wedding and reception area was added. A new alfresco dining area was also included in the build, landscaping was completed to create a 5 star destination.

The project involved the expansion of the Sub Acute Care facilities in two stages. The fi rst stage is the construction of a new Sub Acute Care building comprising 24 beds around a staff base and the extension of the main existing gym room, additional equipment store and extension of the existing group therapy room. The second stage followed after completion of the stage 1 and occupation of the new Sub Acute Care building, this works comprises of refurbishment and alterations selected rooms in the existing Sub Acute unit which provides additional services required for the new Sub Acute facility and also the refurbishment of selected rooms in the existing day therapy to achieve staff / patients segregation and enhance the day therapy unit management.

The butterfl y roof design using polystyrene/colourbond panels, provided the required span with smooth top and bottom fi nishes. Quality, reconstituted limestone walls provided a low maintenance fi nish while acting as a thermal mass. They also matched the existing premises and provided the necessary retaining. The overall winners from each of these regions competed for the title of Country Home of the Year. This year the South West was represented by Zorzi South for a magnifi cent home built to perfection in Eagle Bay. During the last 7 years 6 South West projects have taken home this prestigious award, confi rmation that quality trades working together are constructing some of the best projects in the state right here in the South West.

With another year of judging now behind us, the South West regions best residential, commercial projects and Civil Engineering Works for 2015 have been determined. It has again been a very diffi cult

challenge for our judging panel of Registered Builders with margins between winning and fi nalist projects being very close in a number of categories. The culmination of this process resulted in a magnifi cent awards presentation the Master Builders Bankwest Building Excellence Awards held at the Lighthouse Beach Resort in Bunbury and the resultant winners are displayed proudly throughout this impressive feature.

Winners are featured by category and price, and have been judged solely on the quality of traditional trades including Carpentry, Plastering, Cabinet Making, Painting, Tiling and Bricklaying.
