Chris Radmonovich embarks on his fifth season at the helm of the Wagner Water Polo team, after leading the Seahawks to the Metro
Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship game the past three seasons.
In 2014, Wagner captured it’s first MAAC championship under his direction, winning both the regular season and conference championship en route to an NCAA tournament appearance.
Success in the pool has been matched by the efforts in the classroom under Radmonovich’s helm, as Wagner has earned the top GPA in the nation among all Divisions of Water Polo teams the past three seasons. Last seasons team average of a 3.57 GPA bested schools such as Stanford, Harvard, and Brown.
The 2013 season was a record-setting one for the Seahawks. Radmonovich lead the team to 26 wins, which was the most in school history, along with coaching MAAC Rookie of the Year Jess Lundgren, en route to winning MAAC Coach of the Year.
In Radmonovich’s first season with the Green & White, the Seahawks compiled an overall record of 17-15, finishing second in the MAAC. During that inaugural season, he led Lauren French (Most exclusions drawn in Seahawk history with 354) to Honorable Mention All-American status and aided in the development of Chelsea Beck (Most steals in Seahawk history with 294), the 2011 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year.
Radmonovich has also been instrumental in leading the Seahawks to accomplishments out of the water, as the Water Polo squad has continued to participate in the “Tunnel to Towers” run the past two seasons. The 5K run helps to honor Stephen Siller, a former New York City firefighter that passed away during the September 11 attacks.
Prior to his arrival on Grymes Hill, Radmonovich served as the head coach of the Hutt Aquatics Club in Wellington, New Zealand where he led the senior men’s team to the Silver Medal at the National Championship Tournament.

Kosich played her final two seasons at Hartwick, after transferring from the University of Pacific. In her senior season, the team captain started 28 of 41 games, scoring 44 goals and adding 29 assists while leading the Hawks to a 29-13 record. Kosich coached the Modesto-Stanislaus U18 Water Polo Club team in 2012, along with serving as a coach for the Bill Antilla Water Polo Club team from 2010-11.
In addition to her coaching duties, Kosich is pursuing her Master’s in Business Administration.

Wagner, 2013
Laura Karbach enters her second season on the Water Polo coaching staff as a Volunteer Assistant.
In 2014 Karbach helped tutor the goalies on their road to a MAAC championship.
Karbach was a standout member of Wagner’s Water Polo team in the net from 2009 through 2013. The three-time All-MAAC and three-time Academic All-MAAC goalie led the team to a school record 26 wins in 2013, starting all 37 games at goalie for the second straight season. Karbach was named MAAC Defensive Player of the Week five times for her efforts between the pipes in her senior season, the most of any player in the league. In 2012, Karbach was named Co-Defensive Player of the Year in the MAAC.
Along with her coaching duties, the Abington, PA native is pursuing her Master’s in Education.
2015 SEASON OUTLOOKThe prior three seasons to 2014, the Wagner College Water Polo team was within an arm’s reach of the
Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) title, last year that goal was reached as the Seahawks claimed the
MAAC regular season and post-season championships. With the return of five All-MAAC performers and 10
letterwinners, the Seahawks look to repeat as MAAC champions and improve on their NCAA Play-In game loss
to Indiana.
The squad of Head Coach Chris Radmonovich, alongside

assistants Allison Kosich and Laura Karbach, will be led by senior captains Jessica Burdge and Rachel Burns. Burdge tallied 150 points on 103 goals and 47 assists garnering her All-MAAC First Team honors
while also setting the Wagner record with 51 sprints won. Burns collected 106 points on 32 goals and 74 assists which earned her a Second-Team All-MAAC selection.
Leadership will also be provided by a senior and junior class that has seen much action during their careers while tasting both defeat and victory along the way.
The Seahawk attack will again be strong as they return their top five leaders in points from a season ago: Jessica Lundgren (181), Megan Rodriguez (170), Jessica Burdge (150), Rachel Burns (106) and Lily Doerfler (67). Lundgren, a junior, set the school record with 155 steals in 2014, while netting a team leading 104 goals. Lundgren’s performance earned her MAAC Defensive Player of the Year honors and an All-MAAC First Team nod. Rodriguez, broke the single-season assist record for the second consecutive year outdoing last years mark of 82 with an eye-popping 105. Junior center Doerfler was named to the All-MAAC Second Team after recording 67 points, 34 steals and 6 blocks.
The Seahawks also return standout sophomore goalie Emily Riddle who was an All-MAAC Second Team performer a year ago.
The biggest loss from the last season’s championship team is former captain Stacy McGregor who graduated with over 125 games played and was an important contributor to the team a season ago, scoring 19 goals, recording 19 assists and drawing 18 exclusions.
The freshman class will be one to watch at Wagner, as four additional field players and one goalie arrive. Lacey Anderson, Elise Begg, and Natalie Nye will be featured on attack for the Seahawks, while Kimberly Watson will see time at utility, and Anna Ward will serve as the primary back-up goalie.

COMMUNITY SERVICENew York, NY –The Wagner Women's Water Polo team took part in the 13th annual Tunnel to Towers 5k Run and Walk, Sunday, September 28th. This marks the 13th consecutive year that the team has been a part of this event which is in memory of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Additionally, the team raises money for the foundation through donations and t-shirt sales.
"The team is honored to carry on this tradition and to help such a worthy foundation" said coach Chris Radmonovich. "It's a tremendous event that helps us to never forget those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom."
The event began in 2002 and is hosted by the Stephen Siller Foundation. The mission of the organization is to honor the sacrifice Siller made that tragic day. The event traces Siller's path through the Battery Tunnel and across Battery Park before reaching his destination of ground zero.
The 34-year old Siller, from the Squad Company 1, Park Slope Brooklyn Fire Department, had just completed the night shift on September 10, 2001, when his scanner told the news of the unfolding horror. He immediately turned his car around and headed back to Squad 1 to collect his gear before speeding off towards downtown New York City. Siller attempted to reach the World Trade Center to locate and assist his company; however he was denied access to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel. Determined to reach the burning Tower Number One, he abandoned his truck and ran through the tunnel, with 60 pounds of gear strapped to his back, eventually reaching the horrific scene.
Siller was last seen alive near the corner of West and Liberty streets where he was in search of his fellow brothers and sisters of Squad Company 1.
He left behind a wife and five children.
The event serves as a memorial to remember all the heroes who sacrificed that day.

Opened in 1999 and part of a $13 million campus-wide improvement, the Spiro Sports Center is a 93,000 square foot student-oriented multi-purpose athletic and recreational facility. Since its opening, it has become a major focus of student activity on campus. The facility, which tripled the existing athletics facilities, is designed to serve the recreational and intercollegiate athletic needs of the Wagner College community.
Wagner’s Division I Water Polo Team and Division I Swim Team compete in this six lane, 25 yard NCAA Regulation size facility. The pool also plays host to the Wagner Aquatic Club as well as
holds hours for recreational swim.

ATHLETICS ADMINISTRATIONDr. Richard Guarasci
Wagner College PresidentDr. Richard Guarasci is the 18th President of Wagner College, where he was previously the Provost and Senior Vice President, responsible for academic and student affairs, admissions, and support service, in addition to serving as the chief operating officer.
At Wagner, Dr. Guarasci founded The Wagner Plan for the Practical Liberal Arts, the four-year curriculum for all undergraduates, that draws together a substantive liberal arts core into a series of learning communities.
Dr. Guarasci was Dean of the College and Professor of Political Science at Hobart College from 1992-1997. Previously he served as Dean and founding Director of the First Year Program at St. Lawrence University.
Dr. Guarasci is the author of Democratic Education in the Age of Difference: Redefining Citizenship in Higher Education (Jossey-Bass, 1997), and numerous other publications including 3 books, more than 20 articles and more than 50 conference presentations. He is now a national leader in higher education with many speaking engagements throughout the United States. He is an active educational consultant for more than 20 universities and colleges. Time Magazine selected him as a National Undergraduate Educator and he received awards from the Sears Foundation, the Glitz Family Prize and many other citations including a day of recognition by proclamation of the City Council in Geneva, New York.
Dr. Guarasci holds a Bachelor of Science from Fordham University. He received his M.A. in Economics and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Indiana.
Walt HamelineDirector of Athletics
Under Hameline’s leadership, the Seahawk athletic department has undegone an ambitious expansion in both sport offerings and facility improvements.
Known for his keen vision and boundless enthusiam, Hameline was influential in establishing the Seahawk Club, an intitiave aimed at increasing funds for the scholarship endowment and complete financial support for the athletic department.
Hameline, stepped down as the head football coach after 34 seasons with an all-time record of 223-139-2 (.615). In 2012, Hameline had a memorable season, as the Seahawks were Champions of the Northeast Conference (NEC) while becoming the first NEC team to ever
win a game in the FCS Playoffs, as Wagner defeated Colgate in the first-round, on his way to earning NEC Coach of the Year honors. In 2011, he became just the sixth active coach in the FCS to accumulate 200 career wins.
Hameline’s overall coaching ledger includes five ECAC Championships, three NCAA Tournament appearances and the 1987 NCAA Division III National Championship — all told, 10 post-season appearances in 29 seasons. Hameline won his 175th career game - all at Wagner with a come-from-behind victory over St. Francis (PA) in the 2005 season finale. He became the winningest coach in Wagner College history in 1990.
The 63-year-old administrator, has been a key developer of the Northeast Conference, serving on numerous committees and as president of the league. In 2003, Hameline was honored for his playing, coaching and administrative achievements when he was inducted into the Utica Sports Hall of Fame. Additionally, Hameline was given the All-America Football Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award in 1998.
An outstanding defensive back at Brockport State, Hameline received his Bachelor of Science degree in physical education in 1975, and went on to earn his Master’s Degree in education from the University of Albany in 1977. Hameline resides in Colts Neck, NJ, with his wife, Debbie, and has two daughters, Kristen and Kelly.

THIS IS WAGNER COLLEGEAs tenacious as any Seahawk, Wagner College enjoys a bucolic perch atop Grymes Hill overlooking Manhattan and the other boroughs of New York City. Founded in 1883 as a Lutheran proseminary,
Wagner has evolved to become an independent residential liberal arts college enrolling a capacity of over 2,000 students. The location of the College above the gateway to one of the world’s greatest financial and
cultural capitals was the work of alumnus Frank Sutter who convinced the College’s Board of Trustees to relocate Wagner here from Rochester in 1918. In this, the Rev. Sutter and the trustees were extraordinarily
prescient. Their wisdom provided Wagner with a distinct geographical advantage over all other all liberal arts colleges in the country. Wagner is New York State’s southernmost college and its 105 park-like acres
represent the highest elevation on the eastern seaboard from Maine to Key West Florida.
The College’s signature curriculum – the Wagner Plan for the Practical Liberal Arts – capitalizes on the best of a traditional, suburban, liberal arts college campus and the infinite array of educational opportunities afforded by New York City. Students intern in the world’s leading financial institutions. The contrast between the frenetic life of the city and the almost pastoral setting of the campus is the perfect metaphor for the melding of experiential and theoretical education that is the hallmark of The Wagner Plan. In small learning communities, students and faculty explore the conceptual foundations of the arts, humanities, and sciences. The faculty challenges students to consider new ideas, to master new skills and technologies, and to reflect and draw meaning from what they have experienced in and out of the classroom.
A lush canopy of mature maples and oaks shades Wagner’s 105-acre campus of manicured lawns and gardens; historic and modern buildings; and sweeping views of Manhattan, Brooklyn, and New York Harbor. In early 2009, former U.S. President Bill Clinton recognized Wagner College and President Richard Guarasci, at the second annual Clinton Global Initiative University. Wagner was cited for the Port Richmond Partnership, an innovative program that will focus the school’s community resources in an effort to improve quality of life in a specific Staten Island neighborhood.
Movie companies have frequently used the campus as a classic college setting, most recently for a movie titled “School of Rock” starring Jack Black (Shallow Hal). The picturesque campus was also used in a fall 2001 television series, The Education of Max Bixford, starring Richard Dreyfus and as the site of a prospective private military school in the HBO series, The Sopranos.

Since the adoption of the Wagner Plan in 1997, enrollment has increased by nearly 40 percent and student quality as measured by high school average and SAT scores have improved as well. Once largely a commuter campus, now 82 percent of all undergraduates live on campus in residence halls that offer “million dollar” views. Though continuing to serve students from metropolitan New York, the college draws most of its enrollment from beyond the immediate region.

Mid Atlantic States and Southern New Jersey: Take the New Jersey Turnpike north to Exit 10 (Outerbridge Crossing). After crossing the bridge, take Route 440 North (West Shore Expressway) for approximately 6 miles to I-278 East (Staten Island Expressway). Take I-278 East for approximately 5 miles, following signs to the Verrazano Narrows Bridge and Brooklyn. Take Exit 13 (Clove Road/Richmond Road/Hyland Boulevard). At the first traffic light, turn left onto Clove Road. At the second light on Clove Road, turn right onto Howard Avenue. A sign for the College is visible at this intersection. Follow Howard Avenue to the top of Grymes Hill.
Southern New Jersey Shore: Take the Garden State Parkway north to Exit 127 (Outerbridge Crossing/Staten Island). Follow directions from Outerbridge.

FROM POINTS NORTH AND EASTNew England (via New York) and Long Island: Take either the Belt Parkway or the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway to the Verrazano Bridge onto Staten Island; remain on I-278 West. Northern New Jersey: Take the New Jersey Turnpike to either Exit 13 (Goethals Bridge) from northern New Jersey, or Exit 10 (Outerbridge Crossing) from southern/central New Jersey. Follow directions provided above from the Goethals Bridge or Outerbridge Crossing.
Plane: Wagner College is most easily accessed from Newark Liberty International, LaGuardia and JFK Airports. Car service is available between Wagner College and all three airports for around $40-$50 each way.
Train: Amtrak, Long Island Railroad and New Jersey Transit trains arrive at Penn Station in Manhattan at 34th Street and 7th Avenue. From Penn Station, take either a cab or the New York City Subway (IRT Downtown #1 or #9 train to South Ferry; IRT #4 or #5 train to Bowling Green; IRT N or R to Whitehall Station) to the Battery Park Ferry Terminal. Take the Staten Island Ferry (no fare) to Staten Island. From the ferry terminal on Staten Island, the College is a short ride via car service, which can be picked up at the terminal.

The Staten Island Ferry is run by the City of New York for one pragmatic reason: To transport Staten Islanders to and from Manhattan. Yet, the 5 mile, 25 minute ride also provides a majestic view of New York Harbor and a no-hassle boat ride, for free!

2014 HIGHLIGHTSWater Polo Tops Nation In Team GPA For Third Straight YearStaten Island, NY- The Association of College Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) has announced for
the third consecutive season that Wagner College Water Polo has earned the highest team GPA in the
nation, heading a list that includes 57 other programs comprised of Division I, II and III. The Seahawks
posted a 3.57 GPA improving on last year’s mark of 3.50.
“It’s a testament to our athletes who work hard year round in the classroom and the pool,” said Head Coach
Chris Radmonovich. “Earning the highest GPA in your sport is an exceptional honor and to have held that honor for three consecutive years speaks to the type of student
athletes we have here. I see the constant effort they put in and in this case the results truly show just how dedicated these athletes are to their respective studies.”
Graduated senior Stacy McGregor (Sinking Spring, PA/ Wilson) placed in the “Outstanding” category for the third consecutive year. Sophomore Gabryel Oloapu (Auckland, New Zealand/Diocesan) shared that distinction as well. The ACWPC groups its academic awards into three separate categories: Outstanding (4.00-3.71), Superior (3.70-3.41) and Excellent (3.40-3.20). Wagner had 10 student athletes in total that met the GPA requirements.

Scarlett), junior Megan Rodriguez (Danville, CA/ San Ramon Valley), and sophomore Amanda Sutherland (Denton, TX/ Denton Ryan). Additionally senior Rachel Burns (Auckland, New Zealand/ Diocesan) placed in the “Excellent” category.
Lundgren Earns MAAC Defensive Player Of The Year Poughkeepsie, NY - At the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) awards banquet, Jess Lundgren (Queensland, Australia / Mountain Creek) was among five Seahawks honored as the sophomore won Defensive Player of the Year.
The sophomore from Queensland, Australia, re-broke her own school record in steals this season with 142, a record she set last season with 124. After being named 2013 MAAC Rookie of the Year, she returned to the pool and led Wagner with 73 drawn exclusions to help anchor a Seahawks defense that earned the number one seed in the MAAC Water Polo Championship. On top of her stellar defense, Lundgren was ranked third in the MAAC in goals scored with 96 and led Wagner with 167 total points on the season. Wagner finished with a 23-11 record and an 11-1 mark in MAAC play.
Joining Lundgren on the First-Team All-MAAC list was junior Jessica Burdge (Stockton, CA / St. Mary’s), who earned the honors for the second consecutive season. Burdge was the leading goal-scorer for Wagner, tallying 98 scores on the season.
Three Seahawks earned All-MAAC Second Team honors in sophomore Lily Doerfler (Annapolis, MD / Broadneck), junior Rachel Burns (Auckland, New Zealand / Diocesan), and freshman Emily Riddle (Edmonton, Alberta / Dr. E.P. Scarlett).
Additionally, nine Seahawks were named All-Academic, earning at least a 3.20 GPA on a 4.0 scale. The Wagner representatives included Burdge, Burns, Doerfler, Michelle Greenough (Davis, CA / Davis), Sidney Hoshko (Coronado, CA / Coronado), Maura McGinley (King of Prussia, PA / Upper Merion), Stacy McGregor (Sinking
