Natalie Dreyer Head Coach NatalieDreyerentersherfirstseason as the head coach after a successful stint as an assistant coach in Missouri.Dreyerspentthelastfiveyears as the assistant women’s coach at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo., help-ing the program to a 46-33-12 re-cord during that span. Addition-

ally, 12 players earned All-Conference honors and 13 more achieved conference Scholar-Athlete status during her tenure. Dreyer, a native of St. Charles, Mo., helped guide CMU to four straight winning seasons, highlighted by a school-best 14-3-2 record in 2011. Dreyer also served as the assistant men’s coach for two seasons at CMU, where she fostered a pair of winning seasons. “I am very excited to be at the University of the Ozarks,” said Dreyer. “I was attracted to Ozarks for its small school atmosphere. Here, I have the opportu-nity to mold young student-athletes’ lives.” Dreyer holds a D coaching license from the United States Soccer Federation and a National Level Coaching Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. She worked as the assistant coach for the Missouri 1997 Olympic Devel-opmental Program from 2012-2014 and was the 1999 assistant ODP coach. Dreyer also served as an assis-tant coach at Boonville High School (Mo.) and was a resident camp coach at the University of Missouri. She was a standout player at CMU, serving as a three-year captain, while earning All-Conference honors three times. A four-year starter, Dreyer was a two-time conference Player of the Week. Dreyer’s coaching philosophy includes playing a sound, creative brand of soccer, as well as endorsing ahighleveloffitness. “I love a creative and attractive style of soccer,” said Dreyer. “The formation we play will depend on ouropponent, andwhatfitsourteamthebest.Towin games we must be defensively and offensively sound. We must bring a high intensity level to every game.Itwillbeourgoaltobethemostfitteaminevery game.” Dreyer’s recruiting emphasis will include the personal classroom attention provided by Ozarks’ professorsaswellasthebenefitsandbalanceofcompeting at the NCAA Division III level. “Ozarks is a unique and beautiful place,” she said. “Student-athletes will receive personal attention from

Ana Ramos Assistant CoachAnaRamosisinherfirstyearas the assistant coach. Ramos, a native of Arlington, Texas, was a four-year lettewin-ner at LeTourneau University, helping the program to its most wins since 2009 her senior sea-son. the faculty and staff here. That isn’t typically found at larger institutions. The NCAA Division III philosophy is based on the quality of a student-athletes overall educational experience, and I believe Ozarks exem-plifiesthat.Student-athleteslearnhowtobalancetheir academics, while competing in the sport they are passionate about. I want student-athletes that feel comfortable in a small school atmosphere and have a high work rate, coachable attitude, take their academics serious and have the passion to win and compete. It is my goal that every young woman that comes through my soccer program will gradu-ate with their degree in four years, and then go on to use the life lessons developed at Ozarks in their career.” Dreyer received her bachelor’s degree in Edu-cation from CMU in 2010. She also has a master’s degree in Education from CMU. Dreyer and her husband, Andy, were married in 2013.

EAGLES BUILD UNDER FIRST-YEAR COACH First-year Head Coach Natalie Dreyer has re-ener-gized the U of O women’s soccer program by bring-ing in 12 new players and building a foundation for a successful program. Dreyer came from Central Methodist University where she served as an assistant coach the previ-ousfiveyears.Dreyerimmediatelywenttoworkandincreased the team’s depth and talent, adding eight freshman and four transfers. “We are excited about the energy of this group,” said Dreyer. “As a coaching staff, we have been working on getting the girls to buy into what we are building, and they are doing that. We ask them to give 100 percent every day and we ask them to hold each other accountable.” The competition for playing time has been intense with the addition of more players, according to Dreyer. “The new players have brought the competition level up,” said Dreyer. “It has increased our depth, too. I tell the girls their spot is open, so everyone has to be ready. Everyone has a role on this team and everyone has to buy in so that we can achieve our long-term goals. There is a lot of talent out there. We have one or two players at each position.” The Eagles return six starters, including two All-Conference players. Senior defender Hannah Carter and junior forward Frances Adams were both named Third Team All-Conference in 2014. Carter started in all 20 matches and scored three goals. Adams scored twice in 19 matches. She also picked up one assist and took 41 shots. Seniors Haley Gilliam and Vicky Romero are proven players for the Eagles. Gil-liam has scored 12 career goals, while Romero had an All-Conference sophomore season before get-ting injured as a junior. Sophomore forward Brittanie Graggscoredateam-bestfivegoalsandhad32shots last season. “Frances causes issues with her quickness,” said Dreyer. “Haley provides us with energy and depth up top.Brittaniefightsandisathletic.Hopefully,wecanhave Vicky to full health soon. She is playing good soccer now. We will have some solid combinations up top.” Ozarks has plenty of experience in the back, with Carter leading the way. Returners Morgan Markham, Maggie Johnson, Eustacia Templeton and Alex Lewis bolster the team with starting experience. “I like to attack, but we have to be disciplined on defensefirst,”saidDreyer.“Ifwedon’thaveasoliddefense,itwillbedifficulttocompeteinthisconfer-ence. We have depth in the backline. Hannah

provides the team with leadership back there.” Ozarks will turn to freshman Megan Bradford to start in goal. “Megan is super athletic as a goalkeeper,” said Dreyer. “We will have Tristan Sanchez as the back-up.” Ozarks did not win a conference match in 2014 andfinished3-16-1overall. “We will work together to meet our goals and expectations,” said Dreyer. “In the preseason, we want them to compete. Once we do that, we can move forward with placing emphasis on the number of wins.”

ATHLETICS

The American Southwest Conference, one of the largest intercollegiate athletic conferences in NCAA Division III, is in its second decade of providing quality athletic experiences for its student-athletes, coaches and administrators. Founded in May 1996 to provide a structure for intercollegiate athletics among member institutions, the American Southwest Conference includes former members of the Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association (TIAA) and other institutions from outside the Texas borders. From the eight founding institutions to today’s present group of 13 college and universities, the ASC encompasses institutions sharing similar educational and athletic philosophies. The roster of American Southwest Conference members includes Belhaven Univer-sity, Concordia University Texas, East Texas Bap-tist University, Hardin-Simmons University, Howard Payne University, LeTourneau University, Louisi-ana College, University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, McMurry University, University of the Ozarks, Sul Ross State University, University of Texas at Dallas and University of Texas at Tyler. ASC championships are conducted in 16 sports (8 men, 8 women). Men’s championships are offered in baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, tennis and track and field. Women’s championships are offered in basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field and volleyball. The American Southwest Conference is headquartered in Richardson, Texas.
