    DepartmentsCAO / CLERKS DEPARTMENTThe CAO / Clerks Department makes sure the paperwork at Town Hall keeps moving This includes preparing agendas, by-laws and minutes for Council Meetings held the first and third Tuesdays of each month in the Council Chambers at the Town Office at 5941 Highway 89. Town Council Chambers or other facilities can accommodate your wedding, or our trained staff can perform your ceremony at your home, on the beach or another place of your choice For more information about this service, contact Annilene McRobb or Peg Schieck, CAO / Clerks Department, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a m 5:00 p m or call 519-338-2511 The CAO / Clerks Department can help you file planning and development applications such as site plans, rezoning or minor variances, or assist with your severance or subdivision through Wellington County All dogs in Minto must be licensed with dog tags You can purchase a tag for $12 00 per dog prior to March 31st On April 1st, dog tags increase to $20 00 per dog unless you are the owner of a new puppy or dog, or you are a new resident to the Town If you see a dog at large contact Jim Renwick Animal Control Officer 519-327-4681 The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario requires organizations wishing to run lotteries such as bingo games, raffles or break open tickets to apply for a licence in the municipality where the event is to be held For more information on applying for a lottery licence, please contact Matthew Lubbers at 519-338-2511 ext 240 or email matt@town minto on ca

    TREASURY DEPARTMENTThe Town of Minto Treasury Department is responsible for the management of the Towns financial affairs. In addition to the preparation of the annual financial statements and budget, Treasury staff spend a great deal of time preparing applications for grants and completing reports which are required if these grants are received The adoption of an Asset Management Plan is mandatory in order for us to be eligible for any future infrastructure funding Therefore the completion and maintenance of this plan is a high priority for Treasury in co-operation with all other departments The Town of Minto approves an annual budget and its portion of the tax rate accordingly This is usually about 39% of the total bill The Province sets Education tax rates and the County of Wellington determines the Upper Tier rate These three tax rates will be applied to the assessed value to determine your 2015 property taxes Interim bills will be issued the first week of March with due dates March 27th, 2015 and May 27th, 2015 Final bills are mailed the first week of September with due dates September 28th, 2015 and November 26th, 2015

    2014 Assessment InformationIn 2009 the Government of Ontario made a number changes to the property assessment system This is our second round of the four-year assessment cycle and phase-in of assessment increases To provide an additional level of property tax stability and predictability, the market increases in assessed value between 2008 and 2012 will be phased-in over four years 2013 to 2016 The phase-in program does not apply to decreases in assessed value The full amount of a decrease will be applied during the current tax year The 2015 tax rate will applied to the phased-in value on your fall 2015 tax bill The change in assessed value and the phased-in assessment values for the 2013 to 2016 property tax years are listed on your Property Assessment Notice which were mailed out November, 2012 by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation

    911 SignsYour 911 sign is important Emergency Services get to your home by this number The number and the road you live on is your municipal address Emergency Services do not know where you live The number must be posted on your property If the sign is lost or stolen it is your responsibility to have it replaced at your expense ($25 for a new sign, $40 for the post plus HST). Please call the office and we will arrange to have your 911 sign replaced
