  • We can all agree that the last few months have been exciting ones in th

    e cattle

business. We certainly have reveled in the success of our customers and enjoyed

    some of our

own. Its been enjoyable seeing the turn in the market allow some hardworking

    producers

take a break from their second job, catch up on some projects that have been pu

    t on the

backburner, maybe take the time for a long overdue holiday. We have a lot of gr

    ound to

regain with the losses the industry has suffered for the last decade, but the futu

    re certainly

has a positive outlook at this point in time.

All that being said, were part of a rapidly changing world. We ultimately cat

    er to a

consumer that is more concerned with food production than ever before. We a

    re faced with

the task of balancing efficient production for a growing population with environ

    mental

sustainability and social pressures. This is a daunting challenge, but one we cann

    ot ignore.

If we are going to remain profitable in the beef industry we need to continue to

    focus on

optimal production systems in the topography we live in. Here in dry grass cou

    ntry, we

strongly believe this means focusing on the beef produced per acre. This transla

    tes to having

a maternally based cow herd, moderated in frame, solid in structure, with high

    weaning

ratios. We strive for the same characteristics in our commercial herd as we do

    in our

purebred herd, as its important for us to understand what our commercial cus

    tomers are

looking for. This years bull offering is one we are

extremely proud of. Weve selected a group that

is powerfully muscled, easily fleshing with calving ease and structure ingrained

    in their

genetic make up. We continue to prioritize maternal qualities and structural ch

    aracteristics

first and foremost as we truly believe these are the cattle that work the hardest,

    last the

longest, and ultimately make us all the most money.

Once again this year we have a powerful selection of yearling bulls coming fr

    om our

guest consignor Larry and Vicki Shultz. L & V have worked alongside our progr

    am for

many years and they select and breed for the same cattle design in form and fun

    ction as

we do. Their bulls are available for viewing prior to the sale at Pugh Farms alon

    gside our

own sale bulls. We are also pleased to offer a large selection of open palpated c

    ommercial

Angus influenced heifers in the sale once again this year. These females are desi

    gned to be

the future of the industry and are truly top cut in type and kind. We would like

    to thank the

folks at SMC Cattle Co for consigning the bulk of the females for the sale this y

    ear.

We understand that fast paced lives and schedules are now the reality of the

    industry and

life in general. Therefore we offer sight unseen, satisfaction guaranteed purcha

    sing as well

and are available anytime to answer questions about the offering; please dont h

    esitate to

contact any one of us for more information. You are also more than welcome t

    o come and

see the bulls at the farm prior to the sale. Customer service and integrity are p

    illars of our

program and of upmost importance. We endeavor to fulfill your needs, and are

    more than

willing to discuss them with you.

We are all very grateful and humbled by the support shown us at last years s

    ale. To our

customers who continue to believe in our program, thank you. To see this year

    s strong set

of bulls, we would like to extend an invitation to join us in Veteran on the 18th

    , we look

    forward to visiting with you.
