Governor’s Welcome Fellow Kiwanians, Friends, and Guests: Welcome to Erie, Pennsylvania and the 98th Annual District Kiwanis Convention. First Lady Judy and I truly hope that you will find your time in Erie pleasant, relaxing, informative, and fun. Please take advantage of the many events and activities planned by your convention committee and enjoy the beauty of Northwest Pennsylvania. Thank you for serving with our team of Kiwanians who spent the past ten months

Steaming the Way Ahead and making PA Kiwanis stronger. We also want to thank you for making Kiwanis more relevant in our communities and for your generosity in supporting our Kiwanis international global service project, The Eliminate Project. Since October 1st Pennsylvania Kiwanis contributions have been among the Kiwanis world leaders in giving.

Thanks for your continued focus on strengthening our clubs’ membership and for working with Formula Team leaders in opening new clubs within our district. There is still much more work to do as we continue to Steam the Way Ahead.

Once again, welcome to our fun filled 98th Convention. I look forward to greeting you personally as we celebrate our service and fellowship in Kiwanis. Have a great time!

Yours in Service,

Membership Chair Reason for Nomination: Mariza is a dedicated and active Kiwanian who strives to embody the Objects of Kiwanis. She has held numerous leadership positions. You can find her making meals at the Ronald McDonald House or Gift of Life on a regular basis. She supports the SPCA, Salvation Army, and is a significant donor to our annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand.

Mariza makes efforts to support other clubs in our division. We can always count on her to not only attend events but be an active participant. She was an essential component and charter member of the University City Kiwanis Club that was formed in 2000. Thanks to her continued efforts, we have a thriving and successful young professionals club in the city of Philadelphia!

Mariza’s most passionate efforts are revolved around Circle K and Key Club. She has acted as Kiwanis Advisor to several SLP clubs. West Chester Circle K has come to rely on her guidance and support. She can be counted on to supply yummy treats and is a good source of information. She attends district events on a regular basis and helped charter two Key Clubs.

Mariza is a Kiwanian who rarely gets recognized for all the wonderful things she does for others. We look forward to many

more years of service and are thankful for her efforts on behalf of the youth of Pennsylvania.

REGION IV TRUSTEE

We need to build a stronger Kiwanis Family so that we can serve children and youth.

To do that, we cannot let the parameters of

how we have always done things define how we must do things to serve more children in the

future.

Don’t worry about what we eat and where we meet, examine everything we do to make sure it is relevant to what we should be doing, try new ideas and don’t fear failing sometimes

with new ways and ideas – it is part of the path to success.

Remember, nothing is as powerful as a

changed mind.

Yours in Kiwanis Family Service,

Kevin Thomas, District Executive Director
