Isn’t it always?
99.85% of the time does not resolve it this way. Escalates to a technician.
Ok, this solves some problems. But Wi-Fi issues can be location-dependent, or not Wi-Fi at all, and the APs might not see the issue or the cause.

Can The Right Tools Really Help?
Typically tools focus and compete on test features and measurements.
Tool#1ü Signallevelü NoiseandSNRü Decodesü Channelutilizationü Retryratesü Connectivityü Pingtests
Tool#2ü Signallevelü NoiseandSNRü Decodesü Channelutilizationü Connectivityü Pingtests
Tool#3ü Signallevelü NoiseandSNRü Decodesü Channelutilizationü Retryratesü Connectivity
Tool#4ü Signallevelü NoiseandSNRü Channelutilizationü Retryratesü Connectivityü Pingtests
Results in lots of valuable measurements, and lots of overlap, but product attributes can make it difficult or time-consuming to use.

Operational Expediencies
The right product attributes can make workflow faster and easier by providing:• Faster time to results• More integrated and automated workflow• Coordinated workflow for escalations and validations• No learning curve (yes, this is operational)

Faster Time to Results
• Form factor• Boot time• User interface navigation• Data display: UI flatness vs readability• Automation
• Boot• Login• WaitforBGprocesses• Startapp• Go!>30secs
• Boot• Go!<10secs

Integrated and Automated Workflow
• Form factor• Combine tools into one• Automated upload/storage of results
©2015 NETSCOUT ° CONFIDENTIAL & PROPRIETARY 9
Coordinated Workflow
• Immediately make results available to others: manager, project lead, contract hirer, customer
• Cover mass tests while on-site to optimize that costly time. Have results available later, automatically, no time added.

“The Wireless is Slow”
What to check for:• How many APs on the channel• Airtime utilization of the channel• What AP is the customer connected to, and what rates are supported• Are there legacy clients present?
©2015 NETSCOUT ° CONFIDENTIAL & PROPRIETARY 14
Troubleshooting in the Channel Domain
Channel Utilization is one-click from Home and immediately shows:• Are there too many APs on a channel• Are there APs on overlapping channels in 2.4
GHz (2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10)• Is 802.11 (Wi-Fi) airtime utilization too high?• Is Non-802.11 (non-Wi-Fi) airtime utilization
too high?

“I Can’t Connect to the Wireless”
What to check for:• AP Signal and SNR coverage for the network• AP configuration (Security, 802.11 types and rates)• See if the AirCheck G2 can connect from the location of the client• Client configuration• Network services and connectivity: DHCP, DNS, internet• Congestion and channel overutilization• AP backhaul to the WLAN controller and the network

AirCheck G2 Tips
• Testing captive portal networks• Adjacent Channel Interference test
– On each channel for which an AP resides, counts APs on overlapping channels– Scans and counts all channels in 2.4GHz, but reports results for only channels selected for scanning– Best practice: set channel scan to only 1, 6, 11, to limit results reported to these channels.
• Resolving hidden networks • How to add a network to a profile without having to type in a long SSID• Screen Captures• Filters: signal level, SSID• AirCheck G2 Manager: analyzing results in a spreadsheet• Link-Live: filtering results, reply to email to add note

Profiles
• Specific settings and configurations are saved to Profiles– Networks and credentials, thresholds, filters, etc.– Does not include Device Settings
• Test different scenarios at different sites– Create a profile for each site you test– Create profiles with different thresholds for testing different services: VoFi, web/email,
guest vs employee access, etc.• Profiles can be configured and save on the tool and on AirCheck G2 Manager.
