SEASON 2015 REFLECTIONS EXHIBITIONS REFLECTIONS FROM THE FIRE Longboat Key Center for the Arts will be collaborating with the esteemed Habatat Galleries(MI) to present “Reflections from the Fire” two extraordinary contemporary glass events. In the Durante Gallery we will be presenting two dozen artists representing 13 countries from North America, Europe, Australia and Asia. Each artist has distinguished themselves not only in their respective countries but throughout the world. Every technique in glass will be represented, each created with the unique vision coupled with consummate skill. The exhibition provides an instant education into the world of studio glass and a visual experience that will last a life time! Accompanying the Durante Gallery exhibition of international glass art, we will be hosting the first Contemporary Glass Auction to occur in Florida! This body of work was again assembled by Habatat Galleries (MI) and has examples of earlier work by many of the masters. This too is an international event and will present historic works in the careers of many of these noted artists. There will also be many surprises, famous works that have just recently come on the market, and special works revealing unique approaches to making art! A catalogue for this event is available. From its humble beginnings, in a garage in Toledo in 1962, Studio Glass has become a medium of astounding versatility. In our Durante Gallery, you will see everything from large castings to intricate work created over a torch. Today there are an estimated 15,000 artists working with glass. This exhibit is juried to reveal the innovators, visionaries and historic figures in this field. Unique to many exhibitions of this kind, most of these works will be available for purchase.

for and where the pitfalls are in developing an art collection. This will be followed

OPENING RECEPTION DURANTE GALLERY/ LECTURENoted artist Peter Bremers from the Netherlands, will give his overview of

worldwide glass. He will present images and conversation concerning his own
