MINISTRY OF INDUSTRY AND MINES OF ALGERIA His Excellency Abdeslam Bouchouareb, Minister of Industry & Mines of Algeria The Ministry of Industry and Mines of Algeria is in charge of national policy in the fields of industry, competitiveness, and the promotion of assistance programs, management of industrial government projects in the public sector, geological infrastructure, research of minerals and geology, development and extraction of mineral resources, promotion of investment and the promotion of small to medium sized companies. His Excellency Minister Abdelslam Bouchouareb is the Minister of Industry and Mines of Algeria. Born on June 3, 1952 at Ain M'lila- Oum-el-Bouaghi, Algeria, Minister Bouchouareb holds several degrees in medical science. In 1994, he served as the President of CNES in Algeria and in 1996 he was appointed to serve as the Minister of Industry. Ambassador Madjid Bouguerra, The Algerian Ambassador to the USA His Excellency Ambassador Madjid Bouguerra is an Algerian career diplomat who currently serves as the Algerian Ambassador to the United States. Ambassador Bougguerra earned his degree at the National School of Administration in 1973 and majored in Economics at the University of Algiers in 1974. In 1973, he served as the third Secretary to the Department of Cultural and Scientific affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1978-1981, he was the 1st Secretary at the Algerian Embassy in Tanzania. From 1981-1985, he was a counselor at the Algerian Mission in the UN in New York City. In 1986, he served as the Deputy Director at the African Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was the Ambassador to Zambia from 1987-1990. In 1990, he was promoted to Director of the Department of Africa in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and served there until 1992 when he became Ambassador to Niger, serving until 1997. From 1997-2001, he was Director General of the Africa Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was Ambassador to China from 2001 to 2005. In 2005, he accepted the position of Director General for Multilateral Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; in 2007, he became the Secretary General until 2009. He acted as the Ambassador to Germany from 2010-2013. From September 2013 to May 2014, he was the Minister delegate in Charge of Maghreb and African Affairs. U.S. EMBASSY IN ALGERIA H.E. Ambassador Joan Polaschik, US Ambassador to Algeria Joan A. Polaschik was sworn in as Ambassador to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria on August 15, 2014. A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Ambassador Polaschik previously served as Director of the Office of Egypt and Levant Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. In 2013, she served as the Acting Director of the State Department’s Office of Israel and Palestinian Affairs. Before that, she was Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli, Libya from 2009 to 2012, Counselor for Political and Economic Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Baku, Azerbaijan from 2005 to 2008, and Regional Refugee Coordinator based at the U.S. Embassy in Amman, Jordan from 2001 to 2004. Ambassador Polaschik served as Iran Desk Officer from 2000 to 2001 and as Staff Assistant in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs from 1999 to 2000 at the Department of State. Her other assignments have included Political Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Tunis, Tunisia from 1997 to 1999 and Consular and General Services Officer at the U.S. Embassy in
