2015 CTC Training Camp
Welcome to the 6th Annual CTC Tri Camp!
After 5 years, we are excited to bring camp back to Mohican again
this year! We are continuing to improve the experience year after
year. Well build a quality training & learning weekend for all
levels of triathletes to benefit from. The Mohican area offers a
great opportunity for challenging runs and rides and the scenery
is spectacular.
As in the past, weve reserved house style cabins for the
weekend. Were planning the big Friday rides again for those
who can get the day off work and come down early. Some key
information for this year:
All meals and snacks are provided
Dinners on Friday and Saturday are catered.
Although we have 2 training tracks athletes can jump
between training options if they choose.
After checking in at the Mohican Adventures entrance you
will be guided to the Century House for cabin and bed
assignments.
The night run course will be marked with glow-sticks to get
everyone through safely & there will be an optional
pavement run for those that forgot their headlamp.
OPTIONAL: Bring a unique salad/side dish to show off your
culinary skills for Saturdays lunch or bring your
favorite homemade portable food to share with your fellow
bikers!
OPTIONAL: This year we have a massage therapist joining
us for treatment on Saturday/Sunday. She charges
$1/minute for post-workout massage. Most treatments are
10-15 minutes.

Getting there
Mohican Adventures is located just south of Loudonville on
State Route three (north of the State Park entrance). The
cabins are on the west side of the road (see map below). When
you arrive, check in at the gatehouse for your parking and
cabin passes.
From the Cleveland area, there are several ways to get to
Loudonville. The most straight-forward is to take I-71 South
to Exit 173 (Mansfield / Lucas exit) to St. Rt. 39. Go East to
Loudonville, approximately 18 miles. In town, take St. Rt. 3
South about 1.5 miles to Mohican Adventures.

2,500 feet of climbing
The first 20 miles of this ride are a challenging and hilly ride
through awesome countryside and woodland areas. The next
twenty are a bit flatter with varied terrain and a few tough but
short climbs. Miles 40-45 you can really open it up on mostly flat
open roads. The last twenty will keep you working with climbs
on tired legs. The directions are easier that it looks!

1,500 feet of climbing
The first 20 miles of this ride are the same as the route as the big ride.
Although only 32 miles, the ride involves a lot of climbing and is a
challenging ride for any level of cyclist. The ride travels through the heart
of Mohican as is a fantastic way to start a big weekend of workouts.

The trail run through the Mohican mountain bike trails has been a hit since
the camp started. We strap on headlamps and keep the pace slow. Lots of
climbing and descending. Its a very social run. Its only a 5.5 miler, but
takes a good amount of time to get through the woods. If you arent
confident going off-road, you can run on the paved running path nearby or
hangout at the campfire.

You cant escape climbing in the Mohican area, unless you spend all of your
time on Wally Road. However, based on feedback from last year, weve
added a moderate ride for those who want to save their legs for a stronger
run or bike later in the day. Sure, youll still climb 1,000 feet over 13 miles,
but the climbs are easy to moderate and you can pace yourself
comfortably. Or you can hammer your choice!

This ride will test your mettle. We will ride out to Pleasant Hill Lake, then
follow HFP Racings new Olympic Course for 25 miles (course below), then
ride back. Plan on 35 to 40 total miles. If you rode Friday, this ride may
very well bring you to your knees! If not, it will be a real quad burner none-

You will be treated to a spectacular ride through the Mohican State Park.
You are highly recommended to take in a bit of the scenery as you suffer
through over 2,000 feet of climbing. Its tough, but youll be rewarded with
an awesome dinner to get your mojo back later that evening!

900 feet of climbing
The loop starts out with 11 miles flats down Wally Road along the river.
Some challenging climbs come into play for the next 7 miles. In the middle
of that stretch is an area where stronger riders can really have some fun on
some quick rollers and hammer it out at a fast pace then are rewarded
with a steep tough short climb into the Nashville square. The rest of the
ride will wear you down a bit with climb after climb (and prevailing winds
in your face).
Important note: A small portion (about 1 mile) of the ride is on un-paved
roads. Its a little bumpy, but youll have no problem as its tight packed dirt
and relatively smooth. Just take it a bit slower and you (and your bike) will
be fine. Last year, conditions were not good. We will preview the course
before camp this year and change the course if necessary.

This route is simple. Turn Left out of the campground, just past
Mohican Adventures turn right on Wally Road. Take Wally 11-
miles to the end. Turn left on SR 514 and travel 7 miles to
Nashville. Turn Left on SR 60 and head to Loudonville. In
downtown Loudonville, turn left on SR 3 and head back to camp.

32 miles
Pace line practice, steady state riding
This ride takes the paved portion of Wally Road out to the end of
the asphalt, turn around and do 2x back-and-forth for a total of
about 32 miles. You can cut out at 16 miles if you need a rest or
want to get a longer run in afterwards. Well practice some
triathlon specific pace lines. For the newbies this is a perfect
way to practice cycling skills before the big Sunday ride. For the
veterans, this isnt a leisure ride, but it isnt a quad-burner either
and we like to put our speed muscles on and see just how fast
we can fly!
