ESPC — OUR HISTORY The East Shore Park Club Company was incorporated in 1928 with the State of Ohio as a not-for-profit corporation. The origi- nal property which established the Club consisted of two lake- front lots conveyed by The Kangesser Company. Records show the Club taking deed to these lots in 1936. Addi- tional adjacent lots were added to the property in 1951, 1957, 1972, 1997, and 2015. The Article of Incorporation states that the purpose of the Club is “to own and operate a private park for the benefit of the owners of all the sublots comprising The Kangesser Company’s East Shore Park Subdivision.., providing beach, boating, recrea- tional facilities.., for the purpose of constructing a Clubhouse... and such other buildings.., for the best interest of the members.” Over the last 87 years, many things have come and gone. In the 1930s, there were two tennis courts, a ball diamond and a great beach all on the property. The late 1940’s into the ‘50’s brought us Lake Erie erosion. The tennis courts, ball diamond and the beaches all succumbed to the harsh waves of Lake Erie. The ero- sion crossed the northeast corner of our building south all the way to the sidewalk at Dorchester and Harland. The City of Cleveland came to our rescue (since their own utilities were in danger), and back filled the property with re- claimed concrete obtained from the construction of the Shoreway. The baseball diamond was brought back for a period in the late 1950’s and ‘60’s, as well as some of the beach, but the tennis courts were lost forever. The Clubhouse itself was built in 1965 with a full kitchen and restrooms. Much updating has happened over the years creating a class-A facility, used for a variety of year-round club events and member rentals. Up 'til 4 is a band dedicated to acoustic / rock music from the singer-songwriter era of the 60s and 70s through the modern indie-folk music of today. They put special emphasis into their vocal harmonies, and their Influences include Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young, Grateful Dead, Jackson Browne, James Tay-lor, and Carol King to name a few.The original trio includes: Karyn Morgan has performed in the Akron and Cleveland area with a variety of bands including Contraband, Liafail, and Rivers Edge, and most re-cently with folk female trio, Martha's Mistake. She also has two original CD's and a host of recording credits. Karyn has opened for national talents Stevie Nicks and Lord of the Dance. John Weniger (Guitar, Keyboards, Harp and Banjo) has brought his talents to Up Til 4 and has worked with many musicians over the past quarter century all around northeast Ohio. John has also written many songs, and still plays out with his long time collaborator Gerry Simon as Weniger/Simon, a duo that has endured over many years. Carl Sweigert has played in the Kent area with rock and blues band Ed Head, and folk country Blue Dog String Band. Muscians often refer to him as the “petulant rock star”. Difficult to get along with but valuable to a band. Rounding out the ensemble is Denny Ash on Bass Guitar, and for tonight’s performance, Erik Diaz is filling in on the drums.

Butch Armstrong, born in Shaker Heights, Ohio, first picked up a guitar at age ten after having been inspired by the Beatles. Butch toured the U.S. with RASTUS, a local jazz-blues fusion band and then with Sonny Geraci of the "Outsiders." His next project was called GOODFOOT, an R & B band that worked steadily through the 80’s, following which he founded his own band, the Armstrong Bearcats. Alan Greene was voted "Best Guitarist in Northeast Ohio" in the 1997 Scene Magazine Annual Readers Poll and the 2004 Free Times Readers Poll, and was nominated as such in the 2001, '02, '05, '06 and '08 Free Times Music Awards. Alan has played guitar and recorded with Humble Pie, Breathless, The Innocent, and the Mr. Stress Blues Band. He is also featured on various recordings by Michael Stanley, Donnie Iris, & Pere Ubu. Cy Sulak launched his career in the 70’s playing in Sweet-leaf, who besides braking attendance records at the Cleve-land Agora, opened for many national acts. In the 80’s Cy was a member of the All Sports Band, appearing on Ameri-can Bandstand and Solid Gold. Cy joined MSB for a 4-year stint in 1996. Prior to his current gig with to Victory Highway, Cy was guitarist in The Dynasoars, My Old School, City Heat, The Brothers Blues Band, and Calabash. Neon Don Buchanon began playing professionally in 1973 in "Frankie Flame and the Firebirds," and spent a year with Dave Morrison’s "Aces & Eights". Don gained his rock reputa-tion as lead guitarist for the Generators, recording several records for the Buzzard label in the early eighties. Recently, he has been working as “Neon Don and Friends,” reuniting with Eva Dilcue, singer from the Generators, along with other veteran Cleveland rockers too numerous to mention. Billy Coakley got his start in the early 80's playing in a variety of jazz, rock, and reggae bands. With the reggae band SATTA, he spent ten years touring the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Billy has shared the stage with the Allman Brothers, Johnny Winter, Blue Oyster Cult, Southside Johnny, and many other notable acts. Billy is also a member of the music ministry at his home church, Community of Hope. Michael Barrick started his career as a trumpet player, and performed for ten years as a member of the United States Air Force Jazz Band, touring and recording in Asia, Europe, and the U.S. After three years, he switched to bass guitar, and the rest, as they say, is history. Besides playing with the Armstrong Bearcat Band, Mike also is the bassist for the “Bad Boys of Blues.”

Craig Williams first met Gary Uhas in January

1959, at the now-historical address of 43 Egg

Lane, Euclid. Having joined up with Paul Globokar

(a bass player of no fixed hairstyle), they started

playing as a trio. After 18 months, they discov-

ered drummer Ivan Ivaskovic (whom they persuaded

to change his name to Ivo to save time, and to

shave his head to save on Brylcreem) hiding in

their van, and the classic line-up of EXIT was

completed. In 1960, at the suggestion of then-

manager Mark Cebron, the group went to Cleveland

where, with fifth member Andy, who mainly stood

at the back, they played all the clubs in the

Flats. It was there that Andy crawled inside a

trunk with a young Villa Angela grad and was

never heard from again. Luckily, he had no talent

for playing anyway. It is rumored that Exit ac-

quired all their music from others. Many people

said that they stole it from Cleveland blues leg-

end Bill “Mr. Stress” Miller, but he said that

EXIT’s music came from his next-door neighbor

Blind Lemon Pye. Pye claimed that he did write

the music, but his wife claims that he is always

lying. She said that he also claimed to have

started the Mersey Beats, Frankie Yankovic, and

Lawrence Welk. There is a small-time group named

the Beatles who patterned their career after the

legendary band EXIT.

A cello rock powerhouse featuring three cellists and a drummer, Cello Fury's original music combines the emotive and symphonic sounds of the cello with driving rock beats to create a cinematic, progressive rock sound. A rarity in the music world, Cello Fury appeals to a diverse audience throughout the United States and abroad, performing in ven-ues ranging from concert halls to rock clubs. Continually de-veloping their own unique style of cello rock music, cellists Simon Cummings, Ben Muñoz and Nicole Myers along with drummer David Throckmorton unleash vitality and rhythmic drive in their music and dare to venture past classical expec-tations. Cello Fury has performed on radio and television, in rock clubs, concert halls, and music festivals such as SxSW, performing for audiences as large as 67,000 and touring throughout 27 states and abroad. As an independent band, Cello Fury has released two albums of original music, “Cello Fury” and “Symphony of Shadows” and performs over a hun-dred live shows each year. Cello Fury has collaborated with other musicians and artists across genres, ranging from dance, theater, opera and orchestra as well as with rock bands and singer-songwriters. In addition to an active performance and touring schedule, the band focuses on inspiring young musicians and giving back to the community. Cello Fury is on the roster for the "Gateway to the Arts" educational outreach program, partners with "Class Act Arts" in the Maryland and Washington DC area, "Young Audiences of Rochester" in upstate New York, and "Young Audiences of New Jersey and Eastern PA", pre-senting school programs throughout four states. In 2013 alone, Cello Fury reached approximately 15,000 children through 60 outreach concerts.

Penny Lane features: Michael Francis, guitar/vocals Alan Meyer, bass/vocals Jerry Abbadini, keyboards/vocals Pete Felice, drums/vocals Natives of Maple Hts and Parma, all are veterans of the NE Ohio classic rock music scene. Michael and Pete are current members of long-time local favorite Custard Pie; Alan currently plays with Rockternal; and Jerry currently does guest stints with the bands as well as plays solo. All are full-fledged Beatlemaniacs, and Penny Lane was formed as a special outlet to share their love of the Fab Four with like-minded NE Ohio audiences. What you shouldn't expect are phony accents and ill-fitting Beatle wigs. What you should expect are faithful renditions of the Beatles catalog, with a healthy dose of solo Beatles and selected '60s classics sprinkled in. "A splendid time is guaranteed for all!"
