Japanese FestivalLabor Day Weekend | Missouri Botanical Garden

Celebrating the history, culture, and people of Japan, the Japanese Festival at the Missouri Botanical Garden is one of the largest and oldest festivals of its kind in the United States.

Since 1977, the Missouri Botanical Garden has produced the annual Japanese Festival in conjunction with the Japanese Activities Committee, a coalition of sev-eral Japanese-American organizations that provide art, dance, food and enter-tainment for thousands of visitors each year.

St. Louis Art FairSeptember 11, 12 & 13 | Clayton, MO

The Saint Louis Art Fair (SLAF) is a free, three-day celebration of the visual and performing arts. The Art Fair will be held in Clayton’s central business district. The main focus is an easy-access juried exhibition of gallery quality fine art and craft with exhibiting artists.

The Art Fair presents live performances, hands on activities for children, and showcases some of St. Louis’ top restaurants. The Art Fair collaborates with over 20 local not-for-profit arts organizations giving them the opportunity to generate earned income and access to over 130,000 potential patrons.

Rise Up FestivalAugust 21 | Washington Ave. Downtown, St. Louis

The Rise Up Festival Art Show will feature 30 artists from the St. Louis Metropolitan Area, a main stage with music from The Dirty Muggs, Bottoms Up Blues Gang and Jeramiah Johnson Band. The festival will also offer children’s activities, street per-formers, and yummy treats from some of St. Louis’ best food trucks.

The festival is part of Rise’s continuing efforts to raise awareness about the impor-tance of the revitalization of the St. Louis metropolitan area. Their work provides invaluable connections that have a positive and lasting impact on people, the neighborhoods they live in, the economy and the region.

Big Muddy Blues FestivalLabor Day Weekend | Laclede’s Landing

Every Labor Day weekend, St. Louis’ historic Laclede’s Landing hosts over 60,000 people from around the country for the Big Muddy Blues Festival. This outdoor festival attracts an eclectic audience with the intention of celebrating the indig-enous art from known as “the Blues.”

Big Muddy provides a platform for a wide range of artists who represent exten-sions of the Blues genre, such as, soul, R&B, rockabilly, gospel and jazz. Now in its 18th year, the region’s largest Blues music event features over 18 hours of music with 30+ bands on three stages throughout the cobblestone streets of Laclede’s Landing while boasting the Big Muddy itself as the iconic river backdrop for the weekend.

LouFestSeptember 12 & 13 | Forest Park

The LouFest Music Festival is an annual two-day event, held on Central Field in Forest Park, located in St. Louis, Missouri. The event features local, regional and national acts, with an aesthetic range from funk and indie-rock to alt-country and soul. The event features three stages with alternating performances throughout the weekend. The festival grounds include a children’s stage and village, an environ-mentally friendly vendor area and a food court featuring restaurants from St. Louis neighborhoods.

St. Louis Brewers Guild Heritage FestivalJune 12 & 13 | Forest Park

Just in the last 12 months, St. Louis now finds itself home to 35 member breweries, 33 of which will be pouring their beers in tents spread through the Forest Park fes-tival grounds. Six home brew clubs will showcase what their members can create, while over a half dozen food trucks will offer up your favorite dishes.

The guild will also host a merchandise tent where special and collaboration beers will be featured. When you feel like a break is needed, head over to the dinner tent where nine local bands will pay over the course of the weekend.

The Great Forest Park Balloon RaceSeptember 18 & 19 | Forest Park

The Great Forest Park Balloon Race is an annual hot air balloon festival held in Forest Park in St. Louis, Missouri. With more than 70 entrants and 130,000 spec-tators, it is the most well-attended single-day hot air balloon race in the United States.

On the day before the race, the hot air balloons participate in the Balloon Glow, a night glow opportunity for spectators to walk among inflated balloons illuminat-ed by their burners. In addition to the Balloon Glow and a fireworks show, during the week of the event, a free public orchestral concert by the Saint Louis Sympho-ny Orchestra is held on nearby Art Hill, adjacent to the Saint Louis Art Museum.

Kimmswick Strawberry FestivalJune 6 & 7 | Kimmswick, MO

During the 1st weekend in June, Kimmswick is overflowing with strawberries. If it is made with strawberries you will find it at this festival. Everything from Fresh Straw-berries, Strawberry Shortcake, Chocolate Covered Strawberries, and Strawberry Cheesecake, to Strawberry Iced Tea and Strawberry Wine.

Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce Summer Concert SeriesDates Vary | June 2 - August 11 | Faust Park

Each season, the Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce hosts a Summer Concert Series in Faust Park. For ten weeks beginning in June, thousands of spectators come out to the park to enjoy live music and entertainment under the stars. Faust Park opens at 5:15pm for seating and concessions are available beginning at 5:30pm. All concerts are from 7:00pm-9:00pm. Whitaker Music FestivalWednesdays, June - August | Missouri Botanical Garden

Birds singing in the warm, rose-scented evenings signal it ’s time for the summer Whitaker Music Festival. The open-air festival presents free Wednesday evening concerts under the stars every June through August.

Visitors are welcome to bring their own picnic supper, baskets or coolers. Picnic fare, beer, wine, soda and sno-cones are also available for purchase on-site.

The festival is funded by the Whitaker Foundation, which supports St. Louis arts and parks to promote common heritage, celebrate diversity and encourage vitality with-in the community.

Operation Bright Side

Operation Bright Side as been dedicated to cleaning and “greening” St. Louis since 1982.

From graffiti removal to Project Blitz to the daffodils that sprout their blooms all around town, Brightside St. Louis is the city ’s oldest and most comprehensive not-for-profit cleaning and greening group.

American Red Cross

From blazes and blizzards to floods and fires, the Greater St. Louis Region fulfills the American Red Cross mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies. For 97 years, the St. Louis Red Cross has provided comfort, care and necessities to those affected by disaster. On the scene following tornadoes, floods and power outages, the Greater St. Louis Region also responds to an average of three house fires every day. We provide immediate assistance for food, shelter, clothing and emotional support.

From serving meals to disaster victims to helping with blood drives, volunteers contribute throughout the St. Louis community. Red Cross volunteers teach CPR and help soldiers arrange travel home for the birth of a child. They help them prepare for disaster and recover from the aftermath.

Mathews-Dickey Boys’ & Girls’ Club

The Mathews-Dickey Boys’ & Girls’ Club, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1960 by Martin L. Mathews and the late Hubert “Dickey” Ballentine. Initially, the Club was designed to provide structured recreational activities to neighborhood youths. Today, the Club’s goals are more focused and comprehensive and serve more than 40,000 young men and women, ages 5-18, throughout the St. Louis-metropolitan area.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of the Mathews-Dickey Boys’ & Girls’ Club. Without the thousands of individuals who lend their time and talents each year, the Club could not continue its important youth service mission.
