REGGIE AWARDSSM

For more than 40 years, local Builders have coveted the Reggie Award more than any other. Winners are selected by judging teams of Builders and Associates who visit homes within their category and meet together to select the best example of excellence in design, construction quality and value.

ROMA AWARDSThe Remodeler of Merit Awards (ROMA) honor our remodeler members for quality and value in remodeling projects that range from baths, kitchens and additions to whole-house remodels. Professional remodelers judge their peers on creativity in meeting the unique challenges of remodeling, and in successfully meeting the needs, desires, and budgets of their clients.

TRILLIUM AWARDSSM

The Trillium Awards were established to honor our Associates for their partnership with Builders and Remodelers. As Reggie-winning homes and ROMA-winning projects are judged the very best, the Trillium Awards are given to all entered participating Associates in a ROMA-winning project or a Reggie-winning home.

NEW AWARDS IN 2015

NEW RISING STAR AWARDThis new award honors emerging leaders. Rising Stars are at the beginning of their career, they exemplify leadership qualities and show a dedication to activities which build industry relationships and promote profes-sional development. The Rising Star will be awarded to one or more individual(s) representing excellence as a Builder, a Remodeler, or an Associate.

NEW MN GREEN PATH LEADERSHIP AWARDThe MN Green Path Leadership Award is given to a recipient that inspires us with their innovation, passion and commitment to building energy efficient and sustainable homes. This award is presented by the Builders Association of the Twin Cities and Residential Science Resources.

SPIKE AWARDIn building a strong association, Spikes are priceless. A Spike is a member who works to recruit new members, gets members involved and retains members. Here’s how to start: You must earn six credits within two consecutive membership years. You receive one Spike credit for each new member you recruit, and an additional half credit when that new member renews on or before their anniversary date. You must earn two credits per year until you reach 25 credits to become a Life Spike. Each year, BATC recognizes the member who has recruited the most new members as our Spike of the Year.

LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR AWARD BATC’s Legislator of the Year Award is given to members of the Minnesota Legislature who have championed the advancement of our policy agenda and legislative priorities. These legislators work closely with BATC to introduce or support legislation or amendments that advance our legislative goals. The award is given only when a deserving Legislator is identified, and there can be more than one recipient in any given year.

ADVOCATE OF THE YEARThis award recognizes members who have made major contributions in support of BATC’s advocacy mission and platform, complimenting BATC’s mission of “Helping our members build their businesses—through marketing, advocacy and industry connections.” Recognition of an individual may be based on his or her contributions in a given year for outstanding service in promoting BATC’s legislative platform or for outstanding service over several years. The award is given only when a deserving member is identified, and there can be more than one recipient in any given year.

ROBERT L. HANSON INDUSTRY SERVICE AWARDWe thank all of our members who are involved in the industry. But there are more than a few of you who go above and beyond, offering your time, energy, and talents to serve here at BATC, at our state and national associations, and in the industry as a whole. That dedication and service is what the Robert L. Hanson Industry Service Award recognizes.

We turned twenty years old this year. Looking back over those two decades it’s clear that we have a lot to be proud of. Beginning in 1995 with a partnership with the City of St. Paul and a five year commitment to help revitalize the Frogtown area, your BATC Foundation has accomplished a lot in its’ short life. Since 1995, the Foundation has completed more than 43 projects with partners such as Rebuilding Together Twin Cities, Habitat for Humanity, Project for Pride in Living and many others.

We’re looking forward to another twenty years, and twenty beyond that! Your BATC Foundation is thriving and we invite you to join the fun. There are many ways to get involved, to find your spot call John Zirbes, the Volunteer Committee chair at (952) 470-4804.

Your Foundation Turns Twenty!

New Program Focuses on Helping the HomelessThe BATC Foundation became affiliated with HomeAid America this year, a national organization that works with HBA’s all over the US and focuses on the needs of the homeless. HomeAid Twin Cities will launch this fall with help from BATC’s Young Professionals (YP’s). During the month of November the YP’s will be collecting items for Avenues for Youth, a Twin Cities youth homeless shelter. The need is great—research estimates that, on any night in the state of Minnesota, more than 4,000 youth and young adults are homeless and unaccompanied by an adult. You can help these kids by collecting new socks, gloves, hoodies and other items (see the full list at BATCFoundation.org). Bring your items to BATC between November 2 and December 3. You’ll even earn BATC Bucks! Questions? Contact Heather Griffis at 651-697-7573 or [email protected])

PARADE OF HOMESSM & REMODELERS SHOWCASE®

Our signature events remain a primary focus for BATC. This year, we completed a major research study using exit interviews during the Spring tour, focus groups and a

substantive phone survey. The results were encouraging, and will inform our marketing choices, content and presentation well into the future. Key findings found that the Parade of Homes remains a very strong brand (93% of phone survey respondents have a positive impression of the brand); and that almost 70% of Parade of Homes visitors are in the market for a home or remodeling project within the next five years. For more details see the October 2015 BATC Digest.

ARTISAN HOME TOUR BY PARADE OF HOMES®

A successful second annual Artisan Tour combined traffic growth (30%) with a variety of new sponsors, new

partnerships (including retail ticket sales) and garnered substantial media coverage from all four major TV stations. The Parade Craze ticketing app technology ensured accurate traffic counts plus expanded photography, mapping and visitor comments to share. We are excited to begin work on for the 2016 Tour, and are exploring a number of additional innovations.

MN GREEN PATH

Minnesota Homes are some of the most energy-efficient homes in the United Sates. More than 5,000 homes have

been Green Path tested and certified! Participation growth in the Green Path Energy Tour during the Parade of Homes has increased from from 4% to 63% in four years! HOUSING FIRST CONTINUES PREPARATIONS FOR 2016 & BEYOND

Non-election years provide a respite from the onslaught of political ads in mailboxes and on computer screens, but for political efforts like BATCs Housing First there is no break in the action. Coming off a successful 2014 where Housing First achieved all of its major objectives, the focus in 2015 is on fundraising, coalition building, and infrastructure work to prepare for an even bigger effort in the 2016 elections.

Looking ahead to 2016, the entire Minnesota legislature is up for re-election as all 201 House and Senate seats will go before voters. While there is no statewide race on the ballot, the U.S. Presidential race will heavily influence election outcomes based on voter intensity and turn-out. Noting these factors, Housing First has continued to broaden its fundraising efforts to ensure that the homebuilding and remodeling industry is a major factor in the 2016 races. Leading this effort is a dedicated cadre of industry leaders who make up the Housing First Leadership Group. Under their leadership, in concert with the BATC Board of Directors, Housing First is well-positioned to build upon the 2016 success by running dynamic independent campaign efforts in state House and Senate races next Fall.

BRS is unveiling the New Reveal—highlighting (online, in-print and on social) the new products/services that exhibitors will have on display. Make sure you visit BATCBRS.com to exhibit and to check out what’s happening at the show.
