CJC’s MULTIDISCIPLINARY TEAM
The Children’s Justice Center (CJC) houses a multidisciplinary team that comes together from across both public and private agencies to coordinate a comprehensive response when a child abuse crime has been committed, which includes specially trained investigators, prosecutors, victim advocates, social workers, a pediatrician, mental health therapists and a civilian forensic interviewer.
CENTER’S PURPOSE
CJC is one of 600 nationally accredited Children’s Advocacy Center in the U.S., all having two main goals:
Have well-trained child abuse investigators and prosecutors who can effectively identify perpetrators of child abuse crimes locally and hold them accountable; and,
Help victims access needed medical care, mental health, safety and victim advocacy services to prevent further harm to the child and provide a chance for healing and recovery from the abuse.
Children deserve a chance to grow healthy and happy

A Comprehensive Intervention is Critical to our Community’s Future
CJC strives to help abused children gain safety, justice and access to healing and supportive services, because without sufficient interventions and treatment,
an abused child is more likely to grow up becoming our community’s future health or crime problems of tomorrow
Without effective intervention and healing, child abuse crime victims will grow to become more likely to:
o Enter into domestic violent relationships
o Become a victim of sex trafficking o Repeat the cycle of child abuse as an adult
o Engage in crime as a juvenile or adult o Develop addictions to substances or engage in self-destructive behaviors
o Develop a serious mental health illness
o Commit suicide

MURAL DONATION FROM ARTIST SUE CLANCY
THANK YOU BURGERVILLE IN ORCHARDS
Burgerville in Orchards has consistently donated to CJC for the past five years from their counter change-box customer donations. Every coin counts and their gifts have helped fund better specialized training for newer CJC staff members, improving the local expertise for kids.
iQ FOR KIDS DONATION PROVIDES HI-TECH FOR CJC
A donation from iQ Credit for Kids funded an Elmo Cart for CJC to provide high-tech court-room evidence displays for child abuse crime case trials. This gift provides a useful tool for attorneys seeking justice for child victims.
Two beautifully designed murals with hand-crafted paper and painted where largely donated by local artist Sue Clancy. They bring a vibrant feel to CJC’s forest meeting room for kids. The artist donated many hours of hard work on this beautiful piece for the kids. Thank you Sue Clancy!

LONGSHOREMAN Volunteer Award
Lacy Dyer was awarded for her work in the past seven years leading the Holiday Bike Drive, along with her fellow Long-shoremen and have brightened up the holiday season for abused children who, without their generous gifts, would likely have a very bleak holiday.
WELCOME LUNA CUBIAS
Thank You Sheri Sanders
From the local Charitable
Community Sewing Group
“Stitches of Love” who donated many handmade essential items which helped provide so much for
our kids in need
In December 2014, the International Longshore Local Union Local # 4 donated 100 bicycles and their Longshoreman’s Credit Union also donated many holiday gifts for needy and abused children from their holiday “Giving Tree” drive. The generosity during the holiday season for kids from the Longshoreman’s staff has been remarkable. This last December marks the seventh year in a row of holiday giving to CJC to distribute to needy children throughout their collaborative network. Social workers, therapists and advocates are able to identify children in need and even make special requests for the children on their caseloads. The Longshoreman have made dreams come true for hundreds of children during the holidays for so many years now. They have brought so much joy. Thank You Local 4!
Thank you Lacy Dyer

RUSSIAN SOCIAL SERVICES (ROSS) & CJC Partnership
Since more than 100,000 Russian-speaking refugees and immigrants reside in the Portland-Vancouver area northwest region of the US, it is essential to have their expertise in coordination with CJC victim advocates to more effectively service and support Russian-speaking community members in Clark County. In addition, ROSS staff have meet with the CJC team and provided very informative background information
history and unique cultural aspects of our local Russian community members. To learn more about ROSS see: http://emoregon.org/ross.php
New Children’s Activity Room Dedicated to Windermere Steller A reception was held at CJC to unveil the new Windermere Steller Foundation Kids Activity Room. Approximately, 70 community members visited the reception and took tours. The room was fully remodeled with a portion of the funds from the 2013 Windermere Steller Foundation donations. The offersmany child to teenage enrichment activities that help relieve stress for children who visit the center. This room was designed by the CJC victim advocates to establish a special place for children in need of some solitude time and relief away from the more public
reception area. It is a room for fun in a colorful, friendly and safe environment. This room will also be used in the future to provide mental health services onsite for children and their family members who need treatment services.
This Children’s Activity Room was dedicated to our local Windermere Steller Foundation in honor of their very generous support of local kids over the years.
Photo: The Children’s Activity Room provides home-style comfort with fun activities for toddlers to teens to provide some fun-time away from busy areas of the center or playtime relief from stressors.

2014 WINDERMERE STELLER CJC GALA The Windermere Stellar Realty CJC Gala "An Evening in Wonderland" was a grand success, creating one of the most Impressive and entertaining fund raising events at the Royal Oaks Country Club in Vancouver. CJC IS A SAFE AND SUPPORTIVE PLACE FOR CHILD CRIME VICTIMS AND THEIR NON-OFFENDING FAMILY MEMBERS
Creating a safe, comfortable and child-centered environment is an important part of all Children’s Advocacy Centers. CJC has worked hard to develop a child-friendly atmosphere with the a child’s art walk, wall murals, livingroom-type meeting spaces and play spaces. Since many children come to us significantly traumatized by felony-level abuse
this kind of sensitivity is essential.
In addition to the center environmental design and decor, CJC law enforcement personnel dress in plain clothes when meeting with
children and families at the center with no visible weapons; and, the center prohibits the presence of suspects or perpetrators within CJC.
CJC’S CERTIFIED FACILITY DOG: TABITHA II IS ON THE JOB!
Thank you to Canine Companion for Independence for raising her to be such a
great working companion for children and an amazing member of the CJC team. Her presence increases the level of comfort and sensitivity for child crime victims
as they go through the investigative and judicial process
Tabitha II was bred and raised by the nationally recognized
Canine Companions for Independence (CCI). She was
placed at CJC fully certified at 2 years old in 2011. Members of
the CJC team participated in the 2014 1st Northwest Region
Dog Walk fund raiser. All proceeds from the event went
to support CCI for their dog breeding and training program to bring more dogs like Tabitha
to join teams like CJC.
