MISSION : Above the Clouds has sought to bring joy and hope to the most vulnerable members of the community – terminally or seriously ill children. As the organization has evolved, and as its board has come to recognize the powerful effect its activities have on its clients and their families, the target population has been extended to include all at risk youth. Most of these youth are victimized by socio- economic and other conditions that are beyond their control and result in homelessness for some, poor academic performance for many and low self-esteem for most. VISION: Above the Clouds seeks: To fulfill the need for seriously ill and undeserved children to experience joy and to have opportunities to escape the fear, stress, and tedium that mark most of their lives. To fulfill the need for youth to be afforded the guidance, support, and friendship that a positive adult mentor can offer. To fulfill the need for youth to be provided with experiences that instill a love of learning that can offer the motivation needed to work hard at school. PROGRAMS: We are organized around three programs; all include flights on small airplanes piloted by volunteer, certified pilots. 1. Dream Flyers is our cornerstone program, which affords each child the opportunity to design a flight plan and take the controls as a co-pilot, followed by a celebration with family in the Pilots Lounge. 2. Discovery Flyers are paired with mentors and use monthly in-flight experiences and field trips to foster trusting relationships, a sense of group membership, and a sense of self. 3. Cadet Flyers receive 50-70 hours of in-flight and ground instruction resulting in the opportunity to solo fly. Annual Report 2015

VISION: Above the Clouds seeks:

• To fulfill the need for seriously ill and undeserved children to experience joy and to have opportunities to escape the fear, stress, and tedium that mark most of their lives.

• To fulfill the need for youth to be afforded the guidance, support, and friendship that a positive adult mentor can offer.

• To fulfill the need for youth to be provided with experiences that instill a love of learning that can offer the motivation needed to work hard at school.

Dream Flyer Shanice gets ready to fly with her Dream Pilot, Chris Steward

Call to Action In 2016, Above the Clouds seeks to build capacity to meet the growing demand for its services. In order to increase participation in each of our three programs, ATC needs to:

1. Increase the number of certified pilots who volunteer their time to provide flights. 2. Increase available funds to cover the costs associated with increased plane use. 3. Recruit more volunteers.

To Donate: Above  the  Clouds  is  a  non-‐profit,  tax-‐exempt  organization.  Donations  are  tax  deductible  to  the  fullest  extent  of  the  law  under  section  501(c)(3)  of  the  Internal  Revenue  Code.

To make a donation via PayPal, please visit www.abovethecloudskids.org.

If you would like to support Above the Clouds with an in-kind donation, please email [email protected].
