How? The Coalition of Immokalee Workers. Food Chains follows this high-lauded group of tomato pickers as they battle gigantic agribusiness titans, the supermarket and fast food industry which purchase hundreds of billions of dollars of fresh fruits and vegetables each year. The CIW is asking these retailers to pay just a penny more per pound for their Florida tomatoes, which would nearly double the wages of workers, amongst the poorest laborers in the U.S. Food Chains exposes the human cost in our food supply and the complicity of the supermarket industry.

In 2008, Rich Wilson competed in this race along with 29 other skippers. The only American in the fleet and the oldest, he placed ninth out of the 11 who finished. It was a tough experience -- one characterized by injury, extreme fatigue, and a weird, 18-hour hallucination. In this one-on-one conversation, Rich recounts his experiences during this voyage and previous voyages (including a harrowing rescue from a capsized boat off Cape Horn) and discusses his plan to race in the next Vendee Globe. He also talks about the motivation for his voyages, which is to create online learning adventures for middle-school students around the world. Go Around Again is directed by Rick Groleau, a Boston-based multimedia producer.

Lessons Of Basketball and War

Director: Ron BourkeGenre: DocumentaryRun Time: 0:56:12Saturday, April 11, 2015 - 11:30am to 12:30pmVenue: Guthries Independent TheaterMaine Premiere | OR, U.S.A.*Nominated for Best Documentary

Lessons of Basketball and War explores universal themes of violence, prejudice, cultural identity and conflict resolution as seen through the eyes of adolescent girls – refugees from war and famine in Somalia who have resettled in a strange foreign city. Pushed together in an inner city housing project, religious traditions and beliefs are tested by the onslaught of a sexualized, celebrity obsessed America. Teachers work to help students with little previous education and a propensity for an abhorrent form of personal violence fueled by a legacy of ethnic hostilities. This hour-long documentary offers an engaging and at times thrilling account of a year in their young lives and the challenges faced by one dedicated educator,

peacemaker and basketball coach.

LISTENINGDirector: Khalil SullinsGenre: FeatureRun Time: 1:37:32Saturday, April 11, 2015 - 1:00pm to 3:00pm - Q&AVenue: Guthries Independent TheaterMaine Premiere | CA, U.S.A.*Nominated for Best Feature Film, Best Actor (Thomas Stroppel), Best Actress (Amber Marie Bollinger), Best in Festival

For years, we have tried to harness the power of the human mind... and failed. Now, one breakthrough will change everything. Beyond technology. Beyond humanity. Beyond control. Hide. Your. Thoughts. LISTENING, the powerful

debut feature from visionary director Khalil Sullins, is a psychological thriller about penniless grad students who invent mind-reading technology that destroys their lives. David (Thomas Stroppel) and Ryan (Artie Ahr) hope inventing telepathy will solve all their problems, but the bleeding-edge technology opens a Pandora’s box of new dangers, especially when it falls into the wrong hands. In a color-saturated vision of present-day science fiction, friends are forced against each other in a life-or-death battle over not only the privacy of our minds, but the future of human free will itself.

On October 7, 1998, University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard was brutally beaten, tied to a fence and left to die because he was gay. Years later, Michele Josue, a close friend of Matt’s, revisits the shocking case with never-before-seen photos and rare video footage, as Matt’s all-too-brief life is remembered through the vivid testimonies of those whose lives he touched, from the friends and family who knew him best to the bartender who saw him on the night of the attack. New revelations emerge in one of the most notorious hate crimes in US history, leading to a searing, poignant, and multi-layered biographical and sociological portrait. It’s just a regular night for the band, Triggerfish. Late Monday night rehearsal... check! Bickering and playing some raw punk rock in between... check! Figuring out how to get themselves out of a near-hostage situation with a camera following them... um, wait. So maybe that part’s slightly out of the ordinary. Clutch, Corey, Lance and Sasha are Triggerfish. They are poorly managed by an arrogant junkie-type, Ronnie Randini. Ronnie is convinced that having a film school student doing a documentary on the band is gonna be the push they need to get into the mainstream. He has no idea how far this will go. This is the story of TRIGGERFISH!
