The success of this position will take everyone’s support. My staff and I are here for you. I want to personally thank Gary Nasby for the great job he did as Commandant. He has taken this detachment to the next level. Gary will be relied upon to provide mentorship to me and the staff. Our goals as a detachment are simple and parallel one of the purpos- es of the Marine Corps League: “ to perpetuate the traditions and spirit of the U S Marine Corps through the continuous association of Marines, who have proudly worn the Eagle, Globe and Anchor in times of peace and war.” I personally invite all detachment members to attend our monthly meetings. We have a great meal, which starts at 6pm and then move right into our meeting at 7pm. Our goal is to keep the meeting to 1 hour. The monthly meeting is where you keep up to date on detach- ment events, socialize with fellow Marines and provide valuable input on numerous business decisions. My hope for the detachment in the coming year, is to improve our meeting attendance and member involvement in all that we do. Re- member, this is YOUR detachment. My staff and I want to hear YOUR thoughts on the future of OUR detachment. Without your presence and voice, new ideas will remain silent. Finally, I am here for you. You can contact me several ways, which are listed below and throughout the Scuttlebutt. Stay active in OUR detachment, just like you were when on active duty. Once a Marine, always a Marine!!! Attention all Viet Nam vets! The Viet Nam moving memorial wall will be at Fort Harrison April 30th to May 4th. 2015 marks the 50th anni-versary of ground troops being sent to Viet Nam (see attached document 8March1965) - the real beginning of the war. The Veterans will march in to family and friends welcoming then. It will be a long time overdue welcome home party. We need to know who will be participating. All Viet Nam vets, their family and friends are invited. If you want to participate, please contact Rosie Mizell at [email protected] or Gary Nasby at [email protected] as soon as possible.
