Welcome from the Co-Directors of Athletics

Caleb Schaeffer Arunas Duda

Welcome to the University of Great Falls. The Argonauts possess a long and storied history of athletic success. Back in 1973 the then-College of Great Falls won the NAIA National Bowling Championship title. In the early 1980s the men’s basketball team enjoyed three years of pinnacle success in the northwest.

In 2015 the women’s basketball team reached the NAIA Tournament for the first time in program history and advanced all the way to the Elite Eight before falling to eventual champion Oklahoma City. The wrestling team finished fourth at the NAIA Meet with two wrestlers earning national runner-up honors.

In 2000, under the direction of University of Great Falls President Eugene McAllister, collegiate athletics were brought back to the Great Falls community. Athletics at UGF has enjoyed unprecedented growth. The community of Great Falls now enjoys attending a variety of competitive athletic events at the university and the surrounding facilities.

University of Great Falls launched men’s lacrosse in 2013. The addition of lacrosse boosts the number of competitive collegiate sports at the university to 16.

The Argos are proud members of the Frontier Conference and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The men’s and women’s soccer teams, and the softball team compete in the Cascade Conference.

It is my hope that you will use this guide to aide you in planning your next visit to Great Falls. If you have any questions feel free to contact me.
