ARRINGTON ICE ARENA

Arrington Ice Arena was officially dedicated and opened for business on October 19, 2007 as the men’s NCAA hockey team squared off in their inaugural game against Potsdam State. The Bulldogs christened the new facility with a resounding 9-1 win in front of a packed crowd, who were also in attendance to see Lord Stanley’s Cup on loan from the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.

The facility is home to Adrian College’s men’s and women’s NCAA Division III hockey teams as well as the ACHA Division I and III men’s hockey teams, ACHA women’s hockey team and the synchronized skating teams.

The arena is named after Dr. Robyn J. Arrington, Jr. and his brother, fellow Adrian alumnus Harold M. Arrington. The brothers donated $3 million on behalf of their family. The $5.5 million project is also a place where local residents can use the facility for recreational activities. The operating schedule includes open skates for the community, learn-to-skate programs for children and adults and hockey programs for people of various ages and abilities.

The arena consists of a single sheet of ice, 550 chair-back seats, a media press box, a president’s seating area, concession stand, pro shop with skate rental, offices for ice sports coaches and personnel and locker rooms. For more information about Arrington Ice Arena, visit the website at (www.arringtonicearena.com).

Arrington Ice Arena has already been praised as one of the best hockey venues in Division III. The arena has hosted such events as a Detroit Red Wing Alumni Game and the last five MCHA Harris Cups. In addition, Arrington Ice Arena has played host to the 2010 and 2011 ACHA Division I All-Star Game and will host the U.S. Intercollegiate Figure Skating Championships in 2014.

Chad Davis finished his fourth season behind the Adrian College bench during the 2014-15 campaign with an overall record of 20-2-4 for an .846 winning percentage, which is a school record, and the 20 wins ties the 2012-13 squad. He was also named the NCHA Coach of the Year for the 2014-15 season.

Last season was highlighted by winning its first Northern Collegiate Hockey Association regular-season championship and going undefeated in conference play (15-0-3). In 2014-15, the Bulldogs had the longest unbeaten streak in NCAA Division III at 21 games, going 18-0-3 during that span. The Bulldogs also gave up the fewest goals (33) in the country, while opponents netted more than two goals in a game only twice. The offense also shined by producing 102 goals, or 3.92 per game, for fourth in Division III. The combined special teams ranked first nationally, which included the top power play unit at 29.9 percent (35-for-117). Moreover, Adrian College played an opponent from every conference while outscoring their non-NCHA opponents 25-6.

Five Bulldogs made the All-NCHA team, including sophomore goaltender Jade Walsh who attainted CCM All–America West Second Team status. Davis was tabbed the coach of the year in the conference.

Davis led Adrian to a successful 2012-13 season. The Bulldogs first set the most wins (20) and a then-program record for highest win percentage (.759) in a season, and compiled the top combined special teams in the country. Adrian also had outstanding individual performances with a pair of All-Americans, a conference player of the year selection, and three All-NCHA standouts.

Davis had a very successful rookie campaign with the Bulldogs in his first year as a head coach at the NCAA Division III level, guiding the squad to the 2012 NCHA O’Brien Cup championship game. Adrian finished the season with a 16-10-2 overall record and placed third in the rugged NCHA with a record of 12-6-2. Adrian also had the fourth-best power play unit in NCAA Division III while scoring on 26.1 percent of its chances (40-of-153). Davis coached Second Team All-American Kelly Salis and also guided All-NCHA players Olivia Rork, Brittany Zeches and Salis.

Prior to joining the Adrian staff, Davis spent the 2009-2010 season as a volunteer assistant coach at

Cole Workman is in his first year as Assistant Coach for the women’s hockey team at Adrian. Prior to coming to Adrian, he attended school at Finlandia where he played as a defenseman for four years. Additionally, he spent one year as a student assistant for the Men’s NCAA DIII Hockey team under head coach Dane Litke.

COACHING STAFFNCAA Division I Robert Morris University in Moon Township, Pa., where he worked with the Colonials goaltenders that finished first in the Atlantic Hockey Conference in team save percentage and goals-against average in overall play.

Before joining the coaching ranks, Davis played professionally for the Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League. He played his college hockey with Division I American International College, appearing in 52 games from 2001-04. He graduated from AIC in 2004 with a bachelor of science degree in business administration.
